    Don't know who Tony Page is, but he is a sad case - still pissed off at a man who is over 90 years old, and he saw him in 1970! Believe me: Ray is fun to work with, which is why he has had such a great LA band for many years.

    Yes, that IS Rick Baptist. You must realize that freelance musicians work with more than one employer. Don Clarke on solo trpt., along with Ray. Tom Ranier on piano, Kirk Smith on bass, Bob Leatherbarrow on drums. You can see Alan Kaplan, Bill Tole, Dave Ryan on trombones.

    At least, he had the sense to utilize 2 Tenors, Altos and a Baritone sax. All that he has ever done with his bands was, just stand there with his trumpet. and play a few licks. By the way, we performed together at the Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, 1970.

      Tony, if you've listened to Anthony's recordings from even 10 years ago, or further back 60+ years ago, he did a lot more than "a few licks on trumpet", he was THE PRIMARY SOLOIST on his records. I listened to Ray Anthony 78's when I was in my early teens (early 1970's). What a beautiful orchestra, plus Anthony solos were wonderful with the rich tone and power of Harry James. I think all you know about Ray Anthony is what you see in this Video.

      john smith Anthony NEVER gave me a paycheck. It was Frank Sennes (Entertainment Director) and Howard Hughes. The same that signed Anthony's paychecks.

      trumpetvids This was Ray's Birthday and all these fine musicians, donated their time to play in the band for him that day. Ray is now 93 years young. He still plays his horn and also plays tennis as well. Ray has a website, rayanthonyband.com to see all that he still does . Recently someone has made a video of him and Maryiln Monroe, you can see it at marilynandi.com I think it's great. I'm sure this will give Tony no sleep from jealousy.

      Tony, anyone familiar with Ray Anthony's musicianship and recordings know you're full of it. If you hate Ray this much, you must have done something to really T him off at you. What did ya do? Show up for practice or a gig late, or too drunk to play, or were you pissed because he tried to give you some positive criticism about your playing? What's the real problem? Plus in an earlier post of yours you used the F word: makes you sound like trash.

    • @Tony7840
      @Tony7840 Před 9 lety

      jeff Craven Stand by my claim of his Narcissism, self-centeredness, etc. Witnessed it first-hand. Jeff, look up Warren Luening on Google and CZcams. He was my conductor and arranger, when I appeared with Anthony. Warren, far exceeded Anthony's musicianship as a trumpeter. He forced me to not let Warren do a solo in my show. Frankly, the day of rehearsals in LV, when I said "hello" to him, he just scoffed and looked over my shoulder without any reciprocation. Was not asking him to "bow down," or ANYTHING else. Just say; "hi" back.

      @@Tony7840 For swing fans all that matters is what we hear- and may see- so all this "insider gossip "is pointless, Mr Page. I don't care if you and Ray don't see eye to eye. I'd never heard of you before but Ray 's music has lived for decades and is still enjoyed by many. My advice to you is to let it go and learn how to get along with who ever gives you opportunity. If it doesn't feel right- get out politely and move on!
