    I like making journals from composition books like these. Today I bought 40 more to make. Everyone does them differently. I always get ideas of how to cover, what adhesive to use, how to finish inside, different ways to make pockets etc. Always helpful.🙂

    I’ve made quite a few of these and it’s fun to see a different perspective on making them. I do fold the paper to the inside and glue it down, so I can make a smaller liner to finish it off. Like you, I add my ribbon with the DS tape to the inside cover before adding that liner. Your books are beautiful and I never thought of adding pockets-So Useful!!! Thanks for sharing.

    I just subbed. My students and I do notebooks every year. Sometimes they put pockets inside the cover. After they decorate covers with letters and what not, we use plastic packing tape to seal it. They have the ribbons for a place marker. Then we punch a hole ( I have a class set of one-hole punch tools) and thread a rubber band through the back cover to keep their notebooks closed when they carry them in their book bags. These are so cute, though. I find they remember these and most keep them as a reminder for future classes ( I teach Algebra 2 and Geometry). It has made their student conferences easier for them to show/tell their parents what they’ve learned. Thank you!

    I cut all of my paper to the dimensions I had carefully measured, but before I was to put them all on with the adhesive tape, I thought I would see if I could gain any tips before putting my very first sheet on, so here I am. Yes, I’m very nervous that I won’t be able to match everything up perfectly and really mess it up. I tried out the adhesive on a separate piece of paper, and it seems like I will only have one chance to get it right since once it’s on, it’s on for good. Watching your video, it looks to be far easier to put the whole page on and then trim around the edges. It makes sense really. Thankfully, we’re given two pages of each design, so I’m just going to pull them out and try it your way. Wish me luck! And thank you so much for making this video rather than assuming everyone knows what they’re doing, cause we don’t. Plus, I think the best way for me to learn is to learn from watching others through their skill and insight, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, so thank you again.
    Wishing one and all a very Merry Christmas and an even better New Year! 🎈

      Papercrafts and Planners,
      Well, I did it your way, and it worked out pretty good, I was really happy with it. I couldn’t find another page that would match right to go on the back, so I had to use the one I had cut out with the dimensions. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad. I used a black marker to color in the white spots of the composition on paper and you can barely tell unless you look real close. There was only a sliver of it showing. I got lucky for sure and I did practice runs of laying down the paper before putting the adhesive on.
      This is for my fourteen year old daughter for Christmas, and I know I will make more and better ones for her in the future. I’m already set to make the small composition book with the left over paper of the bigger one. I thought two of them would be cute together as a gift.
      Again, thank you so much for your help and your reply, it meant a lot to me.

      Ma'iingankwe H awesome! Once you start making them you won’t be able to write in a plain notebook, you will be decorating them all. 😊

      Honestly, these were not great sellers. People mostly look at them and decide to make their own. I mostly ended up giving these as gifts. If you sell them I hope you have good luck

    • @brigitasehgal2937
      @brigitasehgal2937 Před 11 měsíci

      @@2006dedra no I would do them only for myself, as people are more and more moving into digital instead of paper writing. I do junk journals, and even they are becoming harder to sell. Due to the amount of time required I found you really can't recuperate at a decent price, so I am creating digital items, while paper ones are just for friends and family gifts. The same is with sewing and quilting. All these crafts require a lot of time which you just can't charge for. 💞

    Great Video. How do you add the ribbon bookmark?

    • @2006dedra
      @2006dedra  Před 3 lety +1

      The easiest way is to attach the ribbon to the back of the composition book near the spine, before you cover with paper. You can use double sided tape or regular scotch tape. Liquid adhesive can be used to attach the ribbon but the ribbon can move around. Hope that helps
