The most shocking thing about this photo is how many people actually "freaked out" thinking this was a portal or a haunted building before just assuming the most likely outcome that the camera did something weird.
Indeed so many irrational people...
That says a lot about people's overall level of education. Even in the Tech field. And this is in a developed country with a good (as it is considered) education. Imagine what happens in countries with minimal or no education.

Exactly! Only a minuscule fraction of the general population has even the slightest inking of how complex computers are. With that level of complexity, they are 100% guaranteed to occasionally do strange or even seemingly-impossible things!
She's a comedian/story teller. She probably embellished/used some hyperboles in order to make a story out of it.
I found astonishing that people always go to the most insane explanation for a simple fact. Well done, Iphonedo !

oh I beg to differ. I know people who are superstitious to the point where something odd happens - they instantly jump to the most fantastical conclusion.
Nicely done. What I didn’t get is her talking about everybody freaking out. Why? So you saw something strange, that’s not proof of some weird fantasy thing being true. Portals and witches are not a thing. Nobody is in a mirror plane. I usually react with “Oh, I don’t know what that is. Looks like a fun effect. Somebody will explain it.” I see the same hysteria with US UFO data. It’s not aliens visiting us in secret. 🙄

I bet she didnt even believe what she was saying but she made it a big deal so it can go viral so people can find out about her various social media and podcast lol. I didn't even know about this until this video but thanks for disproving this nonsense.

What I don’t follow is why this freaked anybody out. My immediate response was, “that’s a pretty wild tech glitch,” not “it’s supernatural!”
My second reaction was, what cool effect! I’ll have to try that!
My third reaction was “maybe it’s a weird aberration of HDR, although she’d have to have moved her arms incredibly fast.” You debunked that well.

This is why you can't believe a single thing MOST people say about strange, inexplicable, paranormal first hand experiences. They lack the knowledge, experience and/or reasoning to even attempt to determine a sound explanation and immediately freak out and jump to the most ridiculous, fantastical conclusions.
This is truly worrisome, how so many people are absolutely dependent on things they have very little understanding of. Even the so called "experts" and "geniuses" have no clue how modern phone cameras work.

I’ve been to 7 Apple stores in Europe in 3 days, the covent garden was the busiest of them all, in an hour not one person came to talk to me, and if I started to talk, they just ask if I had an appointment, if not then to make one, no talk.
That’s because they were all busy in another room freaking out about this photo!
To me I saw the picture this last Saturday and was like okay I just figured it was something wrong with the camera 📸 I don’t get hyped up about this stuff anymore I have seen many unexplained photos cameras have taken over the years and people freak out about lol 😂

I used the panorama feature to take a similar photo once so immediately knew what was up.

Sometimes this can happen with HDR, when the processing of the photo decides what section of the photo to keep, highlight, and use.

Let me guess - it is because if rolling shutter? Sensor is iriented in a way that the image was scanned left to right?
my s23 ultra does weird things all the time like that, if lighting is poor it does a long exposure then 'decides' what the image will look like. the 'preview' of the image often CHANGES once the computations are done! this story is silly, kudos to you for not just figuring it out, but disseminating the information in a kind way!
edit to add: i'm now chuckling thinking about occam's razor...(SUPERNATRAL SHENANIGANS! THAT must be the reason!)

Are we living in the Middle Ages? Some people really are, I guess. Also, there aren’t really any more experts at Apple stores any more. Even though they still have great customer service (compared to the competition), there aren’t really any “geniuses” in my experience. There aren’t local experts solving problems.
