Who else is excited about seeing the completed bench😀✋️
✋️ 😀👍👏👏
👍
Me! I can't wait to see it. I've seen other people make them and they're pretty cool.
Definitely on that list
🙋♀️👍🤚🙌
Sweet. Pups are our children.❤
Yes they are!
A dirt sofa with Heating-brilliant. Talk about earthing-so healthy, kick back and heal. Great job.
Remember when a person is seated on a wooden bench with legs you are able to scoot your heels to the back so your feet can end up under your bum to make you feel comfortable. But with a solid structure you need slanted inwards wall if you want to create that same comfort. Also prevents lots of toe stubbing walking around the structure.
Yes absolutely need to do this or you will be kicking into the cob. Looking at the window above the bench, I think it would be nice to do a similar style of glass insert into the cob using just the bottoms of glass bottles. You can buy a bottle cutter and just cut out the round bottom piece. I personally think sort of a yellow color would look nice with clear pieces as well Lol every one has an opinion right?
Citrine color
You two give off such a good vibe, healthy, happy and positive. Thank you for that.
We have a neighbor who is finishing up an earthship build and he's doing a rocket mass heater and earth/dirt sofa. It's super cool to see how yours is turning out!
Another great video.
Don’t you all want to build a fire in the heater and try it out before covering it with dirt and cob?
yall hang in there ,,this is a good world yall made,,,what more u need,,happy couple happy dogs,,,fresh air,,no hulooms,,junkies hanging around,,,lol,,did good,,
have you done a test light on the rocket mass heater to make sure it draws properly before you cover it up with cobb?
also some suggest doing a burn before the cob is fully cured....otherwise when the pipes expand from the heat the first time it could crack the cob.
Also to check for co2 leaks
Glad to see Jess again working, she has a terrific smile, I wish I had 1 tenth of her energy! :) God Bless You Both!
Loved watching your pups find their Easter baskets ❤
Good afternoon you guys hope you guys are having a great day keep up the good work I'm proud of you guys❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 where's the house I don't see the house 🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠
Hello wade
Awesome!! Very cool basket scenes with your dogs. Love you creativity, Jess. You both look happy!! Love to watch your videos!
I love seeing your future plans, but maybe it’s time to just stay focused on the original dome there looks like there’s a lot more work to do❤️❤️
We're working on the dome in this video😀
😂🤪everybody has an opinion 😂😂
Loved watching the dogs with their baskets.
I love your videos. I have watched for a few years but never commented before. My family and I are in the processes of building our own earthbag house in northern Nevada. It's a very time consuming way to build and very labor intensive but so worth it. We have been able to incorporate some the lessons you too have learned into our own build, so thank you for all you post. Keep up the good work.❤
That was really sweet to have Easter Baskets for your fur babies! I'm glad you all had a great time.
That was the sweetest thing I saw today❤️❤️
I love the self watering planter 😊
Love your place and all of your babies
Hello Dottie
What you did for the dogs was so precious.
Happy Dogs and happy Mom and Dad I cant wait to see your sofa !
what a great idea, so sweet and makes the dog so happy
GO JIM GO!!!!!!
❤❤ @Loved the Dog Easter Badkets so adorable
This Is really neat to follow your build of this heater bench. I’ve long been a curious enthusiast. It makes so much sense. Being able to warm your bones and house, Dreamy. What an opportunity to let your imagination create practical magic. Glad as always to keeping up with your green dreams.
Took me a bit to realize sofa would be over duct work!.!! Easter dog basket hunt was great!! Everyone looks ready for spring😊
Great video guys. I have a friend that started making dog treats for her old blue healer. The dog had very stiff joints. She puts Turmeric and a little black pepper mixed into an organic peanut butter and purée yam mix. The dog loves them and is really moving a lot better! Maybe something for Crew.
Window is just an opportunity for another art project on the outside cover. Looking good.
Hello Erin
That was a cool Easter basket hunt for the dogs guys!😊
Awww they are so cute getting their baskets. That bench is going to be awesome! I love working with the earth plaster/cob. ❤❤❤
Lol over hearing about the potential new/updated living spaces.

Great progress 👌 I'm glad to see the plans for the side of the dome by the root cellar. That's a good placement for a laundry room!

THANK YOU
Thankyou for the weekly dose of gdp. Look forward every week. Have you ever estimated how long it will take to your dome completed
LLuvia in the basket was priceless
I think its a good change of plan. Going with the flow. Plans evolve. You 2 rock!
Loved the Doggie Easter treat hunt 😂
Beautiful guys xxx
Wow what a great idea I do it next year for my fur baby. Love your shows always something special to see
One way to cool using the earth's ambient temperature is to bury a tube running deep into the earth with a tower at the end on one end and the egress into your home. It will siphon air cooling or heating by the earth's own temperature. It works well especially if you attach a fan to help pull air which way you want it to go.
They have the openings for the bedroom below the dome
THUMBS up to this video!!!! Once you get the cob on the inside, are you going to paint the walls? 👍👍👍👍👍
Hello Gloria
Y’all got This house in the bag!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂awe Happy belated Easter!😊
I saw a man in the Philippines did a bench in his house and he broke tiles up and stuck them on the side of the earthen bench made with cob there channel (Building Our Dreams Vlog )really well made and he pained on the cob like paint to smooth it !
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys.
I imagine you've finished it by now but the RMH is looking awesome!
That easter basket hunt was so cute! I'll have to do that for my dogs next year
Hello Nicole
@@SmithHiggins-ph2dn hello
@@NicoleHoltActress hi there how are you doing today?
Love it keep it up as always ❤
Were your washout for drain of washer and over flow from roof you should plant fruit trees individual plots to be self watering with the pipes going to each trees to direct water to them.
I am surprised that you didn’t address all the comments in your LAST video telling you that you put the Chimney T / Clean-Out in wrong.
ty..xoxo 🥰🖐👍🤟✌🤪
That is cool my friend.
Great job.
All four of you look so happy 😆 💥
What a great surprise for the babies 👍
Your work is something I’m always amazed with, good luck on the final outcome, know it will be very pleasing to you guyes!!!!!!!! Take care 🤗
🐾🐾 😎 - Texas
Don't forget the toe kick to get your toes under it a bit for more comfortable management
So cute
GDP!!! Lets Do this !!
❤️👍👍👍
I also use Arizona Tea Gal jugs to water…
You two have come a long ways! 🧡 the Easter baskets.
🧡 your progress.
Great thermal mass. Could insulate’it from the outside wall
really nice video! Small request, could you please check the temperature of the water in your cistern when you have a stretch of warm weather? I'm curious to see if the water maintains the ground temperature well.
I bought land over in the raw desert near lake Havasu, it is tough doing everything alone, good thing you have a tough woman!!!
That bench will be the best seat in the house next winter! Will you use any rocks within the bench, or just filled with cobb?
We've added a layer of gravel. Also, the cob is very rock heavy. Thanks Lynette!
❤👍
I could visualize a small smooth rock layer on top and sides of bench that would be pretty, prevent sitting on and degrading the cob. And putting a few cushions or blankets then on top of the rock layer would also be so pretty.
With cushions on top I see the dogs up on the bench laying down on it and the other laying on the floor next to it in the winter
Rocks of various colorations could be very cool indeed
You know, I understand taking a step back on the second dome idea, because yeah, you really do need to focus on getting this one built. But at the same time, I do hope you're talking to your fellow homesteaders about the possibility of getting some help at some point. Like, there's a lot of options - from just trading a day of work on someone else's project for a day of work on yours (allowing greater speed when actually building), to hosting some kind of workshop or community day, like Tiny Shiny have done recently, to semi-permanent lodgers trading some labor for housing, like some do. Like, I know this is your thing, and you want to do most of it yourselves, but remember that animals are born knowing the things they most need for survival - and humans are born knowing nothing but how to cry for help. We're a social species, and relying on each other is not a weakness. If you could get twenty people working two-three full days on fixing the cellar/building the dome, what would that do? Would you go work on a neighbor's place for a day if they asked you to, because they hit a setback with their housebuild? Then why deny them the chance to do the same for you? Like, seriously, I'm just trying to remind you to investigate all options you see on that. I'm so glad you've got Jess's brother there and helping you out, because his arrival definitely seems to help shake you of some of the funk you've been in since the cellar collapsed. Just... sorry, I'm rambling. Your ideas look really cool, either way, as does the mass heater.
2022, started tomato and pepper seeds in yogurt containers. Poor growth for 4 weeks, started transplanting little by little. The plants that finally produced fruit were the ones I transferred first. They did even better if I waited till June and planted straight into garden. I think the plastic wasn't designed for being a plant pot.
Can't wait to see it finished! Great job guys!
All those rocks I would be making a lot of fireplaces, ovens out of them> PITS AND THINGS
Please explain how the plywood floor/ceiling to bedroom will support the weight of the heat and bench rocket stove ??? Are there supports somewhere ?
This m ay sound like a daft question, but it is me asking. So nothing new! ;o)
While I agree you need to form the cob round the exhaust pipe from the stove, what about the rest?
If you are mainly after thermal mass, as long as you don't leave voids why not chose rocks from your "garden" to bulk it up rather than mixing all that cob and having to dry it all out afterwards?
Also, a bit in the future ..... it is rare in the USA, but in Europe there is a popular way of using the sun to heat the domestic hot water ...... a Solar Radiator. Have you thought about using one on your dome?
Have you tested 😮the rocket mass heater before you cover it all up
Rocket mass heater looking great, Jessica I noticed you were growing a cutting from your lavender bush and you planted it in the centre of the pot have you had success planting this way before? Great video thank you.
This is our first time trying this, but it's looking good so far.
That’s gonna make rearranging the furniture tough isn’t it ?
🥳🔥🌬
Put rocks between the pipes and in back so you don’t have to fill everything with cob holds more heat that way
She definitely found some peyote about 300 feet from the Dome.😂😂
Where will the big screen go?
Enjoying your build but what's with the pistol on your hip?
I asked the same question. Jim responded "self defense". I assume pigs.
