Was a World of Warcraft addict. Can confirm.
Haha, way back early 2000’s i had the matrox triple head2go with 3x 17” screens. WoW was the coolest shit on that as out of the box it worked, no mods, it was my jam because of it haha.
Hell With this monitor you probably can see from mines to blacksmith on arathi looking from farm
... except for any of Ion's decisions about game mechanics ;)
@@CyberBlaed Those were the days. 64mb voodoo video card had a fan on it and everyone thought it was overkill. Vanilla
@@mrsrhardy hehe bought the g9 yesterday, initialy gonna power it with my old gtx1060-6gb/i7-9700 untill i can get my hands on a reasonable rtx card,
I have been watching your YT channel for a couple of years and I just figured it out... your descriptions are always so practical and clearly stated, and you speak like your chatting to someone visiting at your place. Makes for great videos. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thanks! You're probably the best monitor reviewer out there as you put things into context as to what is good for the user and suggested settings rather than just going over all the random specs. Thanks!
I have not seen many monitor reviews on your channel. But out of all the reviews I have been looking for this monitor; your is the most conclusive one. Thank you
Always love your content!
Thanks for the review. What's the animated background you're using?
Hey loved your review. It helped me to decide whether to buy AOC or Odysseys G9. Can you please also tell about the live Wallpapers? They look cool
Omg i cant believe how accurate you are, im a Wow player and want to buy 2 of this monitor
Ps: my monitor now is two of 21:9 fullhd i work in coding and gaming (wow) and i just love them, but i need things more large if u can understand me
For a VA panel of this size and shape I would think the viewing angle would be horrendous? I've used curved VA panels before where one eye would see a slightly different shade of color than the other and it was really bad.
I was expecting you to say “games LIKE WoW” but you have an even better answer!! 😝
Very good review really! You mentioned all the important factors for me. The response time was too high and price tag was too high when you can get a better monitor for not much more. When I buy a expensive monitor I want 10 bit and HDR as well. I was a little bit interesting in this monitor before, now I think I'll wait for a better/bigger one. I do have 2x 34" MSI Optix monitors today. Maybe I want to replace them in the near future.
I see you're still using this monitor. Are you still happy with it? I am considering picking one up to replace my MSI 34" 1440P which I love. Mainly for work and racing games/ Five M/ GTA 5. Lightroom / Photoshop.
Would you recommend using three 16:9 monitors side by side?
ey that star citizen wallpaper was sick
Yes has uploaded new video 😍
But it is about monitor not xeon 😔
Not sure if it works for all aoc monitors, but my aoc 27g2u the osd with buttons are really wonky to use, but there was available for download software to controll everything called G-Menu from aoc, also had some settings not available in the osd.
Nice background! I been using it for a few months now!
Where do I get the background? The one with the helmet glowing?
@@alvinj3530 a lot of those backgrounds are from wallpaper engine. Try looking there for it.
The orange background @5:55 is Orange Nebula by Zenzu for Wallpaper engine :)
0:59 Where did you get this wallpaper from? I want it!
49 changed my life
Not only for racing sim, but for flight simmers this is also awesome.
Does it have any PIP or window snap functions like other monitors do?
Haven't saw it yet but I know its gonna be good
So would you want to use the sRGB?
Do you think these response times are going to be an issue for racing sims/games?
With the OSD thing... why didn’t you use the included remote?
You missed that it does PbP and has a KVM built in.
Are 32:9 monitors capable of let's say... 3440x1440? Or 2580x1080? Sometimes you want to scale things down because of fps issues, but not wanting to get to 16:9 scale, but 21:9 instead.
I use a 29" ultrawide at 2560x1080 and its kinda max size I would use, its over 70cm wide!
The horrific fov-induced-stretching at the edges is a deal breaker for me - I'd hate to game on that . I have a triple screen setup but I almost never game with them in nvidia surround mode, for this reason. Triple screens are great for games/simulators that have proper multi-monitor support, but I suppose it isn't even possible to set this up like that because it can only act as two screens.
I have this monitor with 165 hz version. Stuck on 120 hz. Unable to select 165 hz. I use 2.0 high bandwith cable. Any help?
Where'd you get the moving galaxy background?
Australian tech tubers are really the best when it comes to reviews (except Steve from Gamer's Nexus. He's number one).
I had one of these, and for productivity it was amazing. However for gaming, it was not so good.
A lot of games do not support this aspect ratio, and a lot of those that do give a very distorted image on the edges.
A lot of the time you end up playing games at 2560x1440p and end up playing with a 2 large blank bars.
When set you G-Sync compatibility (as this is a Freesynch Premium monitor), the result is not always effective, often I would have to lock framerates to get the best result. HDR output is not that good because it's not 10bit.
After 6mo I ended up buying an 38" Ultrawide instead (Alienware) which has a better picture, 144hz, HDR600 and G-Sync Ultimate.
The AG49UCX is pretty good for most things, especially if you use MS Powertoys to allow window tiling (Its nice to run Word, Email, and a web browser at the same time).
Also remember that watching movies or videos on this aspect ratio is not very good.
There will never be proper game support for this monitor, as its too niche.
Seems like a lot of miscomings with this monitor. I have watched a lot of reviews and everyone is very on the fence with it.
Yeah thats the Issue I have with my 49 inch samsung g9 and that the image is stretched on the sides in most of the games which kinda sucks but for racing games its really sick and I dont mind playing fps on it
9:19 when he bursts out of the box I laughed so hard :D
what happened in the box ... look at his eyes.. hes seen ghosts ... :p
Pretty cool. I'll still take my triple dell sr2716dg 27" gsync monitors. 7680x1440. Everything is awesome!
Yeah, they need a 3 screen ultra wide.
Can you make a video about all the relevant old Xeon cpu's with all the relevant motherboards for them for overclocking to look out for its all a little confusing tbh.
You would help me out a great deal there thank you :)
10:18 where can you get that wallpaper?
i'm really interested in having my own gaming setup but mannn its so expensive
What's with the ugly microphone?
Hi Bryan, how did you get the split screen ' two monitors at 12:36? i have an ultra ultra wide and and keen on setting it up like this. cheers.
Have to plug in two inputs and then select PBP in the menu. then from there refresh and change resolutions.
gotta review that Samsung G9 !
I think the microphone looks fine. We can't all use razer LED emote mics... some people like using quality audio products.
monitor such as that should have a 3090 running it but still wait for the better version - right ?
If you don’t suffer from motion sickness and are a racing or flight simmer I really think you are going for top of the line VR over this. Space saving alone would be worth it.
I really like immersion compared to smaller panels
hey men i was just wondering if you can make a review of alseye h120d cpu cooler vs snowman t6 that would be great
Will replace 3 x 24 with this size one day. I only use it for productivity and dont like the gap between the monitors.
What about light bleed in on dark colours?
I've a curved monitor but it's not the ultrawide type but It does 4k and whatnot so I'm good for now... the one you got there might be a bit too wide for me tbh! But it does look nice aesthetically though!
That shot at 09:15, you coming out of the box just killed me :D
What cable to use for 5120x1440 at 120hz?
Yeah I just got a 49" G9, great monitor (I dont use it for gaming) nice but 2 or 3 27"/24"screens are better for productivity IMO, you can only divide it by 2 (even if there are 3 ports (2 DP, 1 HDMI) which mean the "bezel" is in the middle, pretty annoying .Windows management software do not make up for it, many app want to go full screen (microsoft apps for example). My son loves it to play Fortnite/minecraft of course.
Woot. love the YES!
Not first, but waiting for heart reaction
HDR 400 isn't a gimmick when it's a true 10 bit monitor, and can actually ATTAIN 400 nits peak brightness. I had an Acer Predator that was only HDR 400, but had true 10 bit color depth, easily passed the shadow of the tomb raider test, and doom eternal test. Doesn't look great in movies, but when gaming it was more than fine.
I'm addicted to WoW. And now I need to buy this massive curved monitor.
i just bought this for productivity. right under $900 now
For sure. I think 24 inch is probably perfect I got 27 and its a little to big imo.
When was 4’9 Rated?
whats the wallpaper at 5:51?
I just traded an h100i v2 for a 1060 3gb, the last part my roommate needed for his budget pc! Now we get to grind reminant from the ashes together lol
does a MacBook get full resolution and 120hz?
i just want a SUW cuz it fits my windowstill setup with 1 clean monitor arm from a side lol + it minimizes the amount of cables and i can plug in a laptop with usbc without daisychaining
You didn't put the UFO tester link in the description like you said you would......
where is the ufo refresh rate test link?
How is the colour accuracy? Can u colour grade on this?
Yes sRGB is very accurate, I talk about it midway.
@@techyescity cheers bro, yeah i asked the question as just after i clicked play. I know most youtubers are active in comments when the video 1st drops. I didnt wanna miss out on getting an answer.
no disrespect intended brutha.
thanks heaps for the video and thanks heaps for the reply.
cheers bruzz
I used my 29" AOC Q2963PM (2560x1080) 21:9 IPS monitor for many years, I like how immersive 21:9 ultrawide monitors are in games. The main problem with ultrawides are that most new AAA games don't support it, I had trouble getting- Sekiro: shadows die twice, Monster hunter world, Ace combat 7, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom, Devil May cry 5 to work since those games don't fully support ultrawide monitors. My only fix was to upgrade to a 4k (3840 x 2160) 16:9 Gaming monitor, since so many game developers refuse to add ultrawide support into their games...
I have a 2560x1080 monitor. Over the past 3 years, almost all the games I play support 21:9. I never heard of a modern game that does not support 21:9, not until today. There are some free demos (of new games) that do not support ultrawide. I had to change the .ini config in Oblivion to support 21:9. After that it worked fine. I could list a hundred games than support 21:9. All the games on my channel were recorded in 2560x1080. czcams.com/channels/ec-h4Ic-PNRp6hjMBJLxpA.htmlvideos
@@sixcoregamer9221 I'm talking about playing games out of the box on day one without having go to the WSGF or editing .ini files. even Fallout 4 I had problems with the in game hud not being in the correct spot (bad scaling) or most games that don't support 21:9 ultrawide & with having black bars on both sides of the screen. I got tired of it & just upgraded to a 27" Acer Predator XB271HK 4K (3840 x 2160) IPS Nvidia GSync gaming monitor!
@@wedgoku Ten years ago, people were complaining about games that do not natively support 16:9. Some gamers preferred 4:3 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1080. There are many old games that do no natively support 16:9
www.gamesas.com/resolution-tweaking-1920x1080-t11172.html
@@wedgoku was it really that difficult for you that you had to spend money instead of modifying a few files?..... wow
i do wedding video edits and i need the screen size. so yes i am invested in getting one. im looking at the viotek though.
I'm always buying practical things with my own money and now I want to really buy something I like that I can also use for work ofc but mainly I want to get a 1440p pc with an oled 49 inch monitor. I'd be like Craig from South Park "sooo happy"
i got a intel asus motherboard lga 1151 8th and 9th gen with 8gb ddr4 ram and m2.0 for $99
also you do nice videos
Damn, with that monitor you need one eye looking at Perth and the other at Brisbane!!!
You forgot the flight simulator people
No I want two of them for my home 737cockpit !!!!’ Can you review such setup?
Nice... An Aussie tech CZcamsr, quoting Aussie prices.
Pro of 32:9 monitor:
- CS:GO gives more fov
Cons:
- lower framerate
That's all I know
Csgo crops the image for ultrawide :(
@@CatBack94 Not anymore, Valve added ultrawide support a while back and now fov scales with aspect ratio so with a triple monitor setup (16:3) you get 152° fov compared to 138° with 32:9 aspect ratio and 106° using a normal 16:9 aspect ratio monitor. 3kliksphilip made a video about fov using different aspect ratios in CS:GO, I'd recommend you check it out.
I game a on a 55 inch 4k lg tv on pc i love it but sometimes i need a monitor
The only reasonable application for this wide a panel that I can think of: sim racing (with the correct fov)
Flight sim.
First Person Shooters are primary use for my 49". Racing sure, it's great but the immersion of FPS and 3rd Person games is excellent.
Dat thumbnail ahaha things masssiiiiive
ok yoomer
Hahahaha😐
The main disadvantage is that some CZcamsrs bump their monitors and cause a crack in the panel :P
I'm kidding. Don't kill me Nick!
I know where you live.
@@GearSeekers Lmao *hides
I use a projector and get a 8 foot wide display :)
Haha good video and amusing guy.
Vs Samsung CRG9 ?
Oh shit... I’d love that fucking monitor
As a simracer, call me when the industry has a triple screen equivalent.
Hello chat I'm looking for some help on a perfect 1440p UW for the upcoming holidays. Im aware about the panel types and im not sure what i would prefer coming from laptop screens to a cheap acer monitor i prefer ips/va monitors more. I just wish VA wouldn't be so bright so it would satisfy my eyes for nighttime gaming. My budget is $200-400 USD I mainly game and I also watch videos/anime. Reading is another benefactor too.
Currently on my idea list I have the
Samsung g5- odyssey( i know this isn't UW but its $299 rn)
Scepter 35in (C355W-3440UN) at $380
Viotek GNV34DBE for $400 original price is $420
I'd prefer two 38" monitors tbh. Either stacked or side by side. Maybe someday.
9:18 my new home after spending all my cash on this monitor.
just wanted to write my own funny comment about this scene, but i guess this one is already good enough
wow Bryan you lucky bugger that is cool
so funny, when you started listing the 4 types of people, i'm like, "this is also great for world of warcraft" and then it was number 4 lol
The RGB joke was a good one 🤣🤣
A tips for a ultrawide monitor to test: LG 38GN950, you will not be disapointed
Next video bring back the golden mic. The poor thing must be rotting away without events to go to.
WoW!
just a reminder when you mention usb and display port you need to mention what version of it it is... display port/hdmi 1.3, 1.4, 2.0 usb2.0, 3.0 etc...
I want a monitor that large but taller. Basically, a 21:9 52 inches.
That was on sale on prime day
I want that but twice a high....5120x2880.
first thought that came to my mind was, dang WoW would look sick on that monitor
Quick answer to the "wrong side" question that I wish you had used: Because I am in Australia.
price actually not bad
