I love sitting in silence, it really calms me down. It’s hard for me to imagine how people can live without silence, like being constantly surrounded by some kind of noises, but by choice. When I come back home after work silence is like heaven for me.
People who rarely have silence as a child (when the body and mind most adapts do it), are probably the ones who can't live with silence as an adult. For example, if they lived downtown in a loud city and vacationed to a country inn in a town of less than 5,000 population. Or a person who was raised in a large, loud family full of children, especially young children.
Oposite silence makes me freak tf out I listen music on average 14 hours day youtube 2 hours and am sleeping or with people the rest and listen to music while I sleep

Being in the window treatment business. I insulated and upholstered all the walls in our MBR. It was amazing. When people would enter the room, some of them would get a weird sensation. Some would gasp, some would just stop and listen. Some even got dizzy. It was fun to bring people up there just to watch their reaction

I would like to try meditation in this room and maybe I would be able to handle all the noises from my body 😂

Back in the 1960's I went with my school class to Riverbank Laboratory in Geneva, and was in what was then, the worlds quietest room. They said it was so quiet you could actually hear the air molecules bumping into each other.

I’ve been in a quieter room. I had to do a low volt job for skunkworks in there radio equipment test room. It’s a 4 story tall cube like room built to have absolutely zero reflection of any kind. The cones that covered the walls are six feet tall and cover the entire room. It’s huge! And insanely weird to be inside of. We’re used to echos in a room that big, but you couldn’t even hear yourself accept for the vibrations of your vocal cords radiating through your body to your ears. It feels like you’re underwater. Talking to people was nearly impossible, because it was so hard to hold a conversation when you’re hearing yourself like that. I had to work in that thing for about 48 hours. Definitely felt weird after..
I used to live in a really really quiet place then I had to move and the new place is noisy af. So now I can’t sleep without a fan on to the point where I have two back up fans in storage for when the motor wears out on the current one. Silence is so important but once you go to “the other side” it causes a whole host of problems like anxiety and even gastrointestinal upset 😣. I’m on medication for various crap I didn’t have when I lived in the quiet place 😣
