What’s weird is they are calling them 3eight glove and the 5eight glove where the first is for 3 rounds and the other 5 round bouts. The 3eight is black and the 5eight is gold which is weird because the gold is supposed to be for champion ship fights but there are non championship fights that are five rounds so it’s a weird naming system.

@@Kehzro I have a pair of training gloves that I use, and they are basically a hybrid of boxing and MMA gloves. The padding covers more of your fingers than an MMA glove, but you still have partially exposed fingers and your thumb is completely exposed. I could definitely grapple with them, but I feel like the new gloves they are promoting would be a lot more comfortable in terms of grappling and wrestling, but they are still fully capable of delivering eye pokes. I think the gloves shouldn't matter, and they just really need to be more strict with eye pokes and dirty fighting in general, if that's what they're concerned about.

You must have some kind of degree when it comes to business. Selling a patent is a one off, Trevor wants a partnership so he gets his share regularly. Even if this is most likely now gone, he can take care of himself.

You know this is a goldmine for me. Being both a designer and an MMA fan. I have created designs for the glove myself as well. I'm even looking at an evolution of the gloves being smart - equipped with the ability to record strikes landed as useful statistics.

Everyone here stating Trevor Whittman has better gloves maybe maybe not. Trevor made a business decision not to sell his patent the UFC made a business decision to go with this gloves. It is what it is. Trevor can keep his gloves but UFC Fighters will fight with this one. In my opinions this looks way cooler too and effective.

@@FistfulOfGabagool I think messing with points for an accidental one or two eyepokes would just aggravate the scoring problem even further. If it is continuous in a round or match, I think after a set amount (3-4) pokes should start to cost the fighter. And there should absolutely be punishment for deliberate consistent cheating all through-out a match, as much as you and I probably loved MacGregor he is holding the cage and people's gloves every chance he can.
I cannot wait to try these out, I do wonder how it feels when getting hit with one of these. I'm not an expert but stacking the foam sheets seems like it would be similar to putting horsehairs in boxing gloves

@vesperide598 Not really. It just makes it easier to close the hand, it doesn't force the fingers downward by much like some of the prototypes that have been discussed. These will not mitigate eyepokes much.

Unfortunately they aren’t the same. He talks about Trevor whitmans gloves that curl the fingers down a bit so they have to try to straighten their fingers. It’s definitely a step in the right direction though

I would be interested is knowing which company they selected for the chips in the gloves. In the future they should incorporate a sensor to provide real time feedback for force, i believe fans would eat that up to see the psi force of their favorite fighter.

I think the point was the old gloves apparently had stiffer foam that kept the glove out stretch so it automatically made people eyepoke and now people can easily more do whatever they want but its basically the same, they even used leather with isnt elastic so if you try to curl your fist the leather will resist it
