    The ability to add a tool box, fuel tank, or just have a generator sitting back there all the time and still have more bed than most people with empty shorts is already worth it.
    Ford throwing in the 48 gallon tank is icing on the cake.

    At first I HATED the long bed but now, the huge front end looks silky with the tiny bed in the back. The longer bed makes it look perfect although I do wish it was maybe a foot shorter

    Long bed with the steps definitely looks better then without steps. From an aesthetic stand point in my eyes. Makes it look a little smaller like it’s not so long.

    After going from a short bed to a long bed, I won't go back. The long bed has so much more space even with a 5th wheel hitch in the bed.

      I agree. I did the same thing. I will never go back to a short bed. I haul a 5th wheel and I really like the extra room in the bed with the 8ft box and the not having to worry about turning and pinching the cab is great.

    After owning both I Will never go back to the short bed. You touched on everything. More space in the bed even though I don’t need it, it’s nice to put a piece of plywood, Queen size mattress or other misc. items in the bed and shut the tailgate without going over the tailgate and needing to tie the item down.
    Towing my trailer and headed out on vacation time is where they don’t compare! Ride quality and the extra distance on a tank of fuel especially when I don’t know the quality of fuel where I will be going and needing to stop while pulling my toy hauler made up for the $200 immediately.
    Plus I get more steps in, LoL when you have to park at the end of parking lots!

  • @Andy_Mark
    @Andy_Mark Před dnem

    The decreased payload and towing might look like a drawback on paper but is deceptive in the real world. In a max-load situation, the long bed will feel noticeably more capable. However, there are other drawbacks to consider. In an urban, everyday driving scenario parking is a nightmare. I had a customer trade a late model short for a similar long with the same axle ratio and gas 7.3 engine. He towed an 8500lb trailer and said the added stability made him more confident while towing. However, this advantage was outweighed by a measurable decrease in turning ratio. He said the added bed capacity and stability didn't make up for the added nucience of finding places to park and wider turning with a trailer. Not to mention, most garages will not be big enough. Food for thought.

    I had a ‘22 F350 Crew Cab LB for 6 months and ~3500 miles. Hauled hay, 3 horse GN trailer, and dump trailer full of manure beautifully, but I quickly realized the LB was overkill for me and made the truck ridiculously long - about 22’ with trailer hitch. My wife hated how big it was and didn’t even want to ride in it, much less learn to drive it. The huge gas tank was painful to fill up so I usually never let it get below a half a tank before filling. Sold it in March ‘23 to a guy who hates the look of the side steps so he wanted a ‘22 with low miles so we were both happy. Still have my ‘87 6.9 diesel standard cab LB until I decide what’s next.

    It's always been my opinion to get the long bed with the super cab. It gives you the same length as a crew cab short bed so it's just as easy to park but you get the bigger fuel tank. Get it with 4:30 gears put a two and a half inch level kit on it and you can run 37-in tires and take it about anywhere.
    I never understood why Ford doesn't build more of them this way. Nor do I understand why a family of four needs a crew cab. Unless you are hauling around four other full grown men you don't need that much space in the backseat, and it doesn't make sense to get a pickup that can't carry as large of a piece of wood as my minivan.

    I wonder what's the point of building a 350 without a 5th wheel prep package?

  • @larrymac2093
    @larrymac2093 Před rokem

    I just picked up a 23 F250 lariat 6.7 Tremor short bed. I did my research but second guessing myself if I bought enough truck to two my 38ft 5th wheel. It comes in at just under 14k lbs wet. My Tremor came with the 11,000 GVWR package and 3.55 gears. I traded in my 2018 F350 6.7 Lariat long bed that had no issues towing my 5th wheel. My wife and I decided to upgrade for the 10 sp trans and short bed so we didn't have to pack a lunch to walk from front to back and easier parking and maneuvering. The specs on my 18 F350 where 28k GCWR and 20,800 trailer weight. The specs on the 23 F250 are 31k GCWR and 20,500 trailer wt, so I only to a 300 lb hit on trailer wt and a 3000 lb gain on GCWR. I thank I might have taken a hit on payload capacity also but not sure. They are almost identical in towing capacities. The only disadvantage is have to use that heavy a-- slider hitch. I'm also not sure on the Goodyear 35's, I have always used Michelin on my tow vehicles. I would have liked to have gotten the F350 but couldn't justify the price difference and finding one at MSRP. My got my 23 at MSRP plus a $500 military discount. The guy who special ordered it backed out. I have a good relationship with my local Ford dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I buy trucks for their utility, not to add a bunch useless mods that look nice but only add weight and rob payload. Long beds add utility in almost all cases. Prior to 2023, the LB also added about 700 lbs in payload over the SB. That advantage has been reduced somewhat in 2023 to 400 lbs.

    • @nickzalan4762

    People don't want a long bed due to parking the sucker. It just grinds my gears of how for sales Ford made these trucks like a SUV. With a 4 door cab. To me if you do not work do not buy a short bed work truck. What does a person need a F- 250 for unless you got a job to do? Maybe you have a boat to where it is easier to maneuver the truck around. That is understandable. But people just driving such a truck for going to work in a office? Huge waste of fuel. I see the fords F-250 F-350 XLT or special editions. They are treated like a car. Ask someone to get you through a ditch full of mud and water, a person will think that they would get stuck in their truck.
