If that's from "Lee Lapidaries" of Cleveland, OH then my uncle Ted Lee built it. He & his brother Fred Lee along with my aunt Sylvia WERE "Lee Lapidaries." Sylvia was Fred's wife - Ted's wife was Jeannie & both were my mom's sisters all from WV. ~ (Yep - 2 brothers married 2 sisters). My two uncle's parents were Hungarian immigrants who came to Cleveland early 1900s. The family name was butchered at Ellis Island to "Lee." I believe it was originally something like "Lee-how-ski." Uncle Ted was the designer & machinist. Fred & Syliva the business side. My uncle's sister also worked the business as a gem cutter. Uncle Ted passed away from cancer in 1989. Fred passed about 10 yrs ago in his 90s. I never knew much about the business except it was adjacent to Uncle Fred & Aunt Sylvia's huge house on West 117th St Cleveland - That was the business 2nd location they move to in 60s or 70s. If you Google "Lee Lapidaries" you can still see the simple shop where they built the equipment. My mother worked in the business for a short period as a stone polisher (she told me) But she & my Dad (who worked @ Ford assembly plant, Cleveland) moved back to WV about 1961. I was born in 63. I loved to visit my Cleveland family growing up. Didn't know Lee was a name in Lapidary world until later in life. Sadly - none of my cousins continued the business once the brothers were gone.

I have the same machine but it doesn't have the little black handle on the side. I bought it from a friend who's friend passed away. Would you happen to know what the black handle is called by any chance?
