I would never have thought I would see CaptainSim and IntotheBlueSimulations in the same sentence!
I made a conscious decision not to engage with any content creator that covered captainsim product, but seeing as it’s ITBS, then it must be of a certain quality.
Ong
Spot on!
Haha! Curiosity got the better of me. . .
I certainly don’t agree with the way CaptainSim have behaved previously however, personally, I’d rather judge each product based on its own merits and hopefully that way, encourage certain devs to improve their efforts. I know that the C130 won’t be for everyone but equally, a lot of people will be looking to purchase the addon and at least this way, I can give them a realistic idea of what they can expect.
All the best : )
I don’t believe I’ve heard you say “not modeled” so many times in a single review.
Even very old FSX version of CS C-130 has working air conditioning selector and switches... Seems like a downgrade when it comes to systems.
@@macieksoftthis can be brought up to par by mods on flightsim to like the 777
Now, now - don't exagerate. He also says "Currently not modeled" quite a few times :D
I've been in the Herc multiple times. Only landed with the plane twice. 😁 One of my favorite memories was I was flying Space A from Andrews back to Pope but the flight was a "round robin" so we headed West with stops in PA, another I can't recall and then CA before flying home.
Along the way back from CA, the co-pilot was taking a break and I was invited to be his seat warmer. The night time cockpit was a sight to behold. Busy, busy cockpit illuminated in all red but the view was spectacular. Especially the view through the chin glass a I looked down at the spattering of towns and cities twinkling in the blackness. Best seat in the house.
The second time I landed in the C-130 it was coming home from a funeral in KY that I had flown into Andrews to then drive into Ashland. So once again coming from Andrews. The return flight from Andrews to Carswell (C-40) had been scrubbed and I had to get back in time to report back for duty on time with my department.
They had a 130 going to Kelly so I grabbed it. The cool thing was as we were descending over San Antonio at night, the pilot opened the upper clam shell and the view was beautiful at night. It was weirdly comfortable being back in one after some 30 years at that point. What was a pleasant surprise, after two Navy landings on my trip up, I was prepared for a, uh, let's say a firm landing. When those screw jacks started the gear down I hunkered down in the seat to "brace". Those Air Force guys had an entirely different philosophy and greased the landing.
Maybe it's nostalgia but watching this I can still hear and smell the plane. Stupid, I know.
Use to fly on the C-130 and C-141 (stretch) all the time all over the Far East while stationed at Yokota AB in the 70's. Every time I flew I landed in it, lol. I always referred to flying in the C-130 as the flying boat. By the why I grew up across the river from Huntington, WV.
Nostalgia yes stupid, No 🤙
Such a shame to see what Captain Sim has become. Their 757 for P3d was one of my all time favourites
Likewise, MKE - I loved some of CaptainSim’s previous efforts, back in the day (particularly the 707, 727 and 757). Unfortunately, even if they improve again somewhat, at this point they’ve probably damaged their reputation beyond repair.
Cheers, all the best!
It's been a long time since I've flown the Mighty Hercules, but I can make a few observations, not necessarily intelligent ones.
It's a remarkably easy airplane to fly and not at all heavy in pitch although the roll rate was slow, as you would expect, Fairly easy to get a grease job on landing, I thought it handled not much differently than a Cessna 182.
I think your climb performance was not too far off given the light weight. Those are powerful engines. Normal climb schedule was 220 KIAS at sea level less 2 knots per thousand feet, pretty sporting for a turboprop. Cruise was around 1100 pph per engine, giving around 280-290 knots true which is quite good for such an aerodynamic abomination.
The was no heading hold feature on that autopilot,
In the pre-GPS days, navigation over water in the C-130 was by the omega system of blessed memory. The navigators claimed to know how to operate it, refuting the old adage that no navigator is worth 200 pounds of gas.
On the overhead panel, everything above the fire handles was the exclusive domain of the flight engineer. I was always afraid I'd get my knuckles rapped with a ruler if I had the temerity to put a hand anywhere near those switches.
The powerplant, especially the propellers, seemed more like magic than science, They had to have been designed by a special breed of
wizard-engineers skilled in the Black Arts.
I hope this adds some context, but I doubt it.
It was fun for me to read if that helps. I wish I could do a redo on my life sometimes and try to become a military aviator. Seems amazing. Thanks for the story!
Haha imagining the engineer guarding over his knobs and buttons
I was an FE on the "E" models at Yokota AB Japan 03-06. We would not have used a ruler... lol just a 3 D-Cell Maglite! I miss flying in the Herc.
@@realusaf9313 I happened to be a avionics tech at Yokota from 81-83. Flew on the heerky-pig to Korea a few times for team spirit.
23:20 good sound for sleep
Oh and I have…
This plane is tempting. I've driven back and forth between Fairbanks and Anchorage too many times
That screenshot at the end though 😀 Thanks for the in-depth review. Hoping for some additional liveries, better sounds, J-model, etc. - but this is a decent start.
Great video thanks. It struck me whilst watching how our expectations of aircraft has gone way up. Even since the launch of msfs 20. I wonder where we will be in another four years....exciting!
Great video, I too was surprised by it being quite good, with some continued development this could be a really nice and detailed addon to which the modelling deserves and I really hope Captain sim does not miss this opportunity. I noticed quite a lot of tearing in the video with the prop animation and the landing gear which looked like frame generation errors, personally I have turned this off on my sim and use lower settings with TAA which really help clean up the image.
Another great video! Thank you
Hey Sir. I actually rode in the back of the C-130 on a training mission. So this is really nice to watch. Thanks for the video Sir.
Yet another brilliant video, well done sir.
Happy to see a honest review about a CS product. A lot is been said about the recent CS products and I really hope they will be able to get back on the horse with their back-in-the-day quality. For one I'm glad ITB is doing this here. At least I'm guaranteed a good, objective and ttrustworthy review. Into the blue was and is one of my go-to channels regarding `simadvice. Keep it up
Great video - looks like fun!
I owned a lot of the captain sim products during the Flight simulator 2004 and X days. This was the norm for their products. Their 767/727/ and 737-200 were really good. This is a port of their C130 from back then.
Select the switch down above the heading / ils selector dial..and then you can operate the heading bug and heading hold
Pulling up out of a nose dive at Vne and just made it back straight and level AP engaged!
Thank you for another great presentation.... Your views are always of great value.....Roger... Pembrokeshire
Many thanks once again, Roger! I’m really happy to hear that you continue to get value out of the content : )
Much appreciated and all the best to you!
I'll consider it if they develop it further, and if the Milviz one fails to appear. I liked the Captain Sim 727, but it took them an awful long time to sort out the bugs, and I have a feeling it'll be an equally long time before we see any further work on the C-130. Good video though - it satisfied my curiosity about the model.
Nice panel that with a little more work will make it a great panel, the Default King air sounds actually work nicely as a stop gap till they get some Allison T-56 soundpacks going. The heat effect is perhaps a bit over board for the Herc, but still nice, and the exterior model is quite nice looking (thought likely the same as the exterior only offering C.S. had before this. As to the climb rate, maybe some Herc pilots can attest, but my old boss and Mentor flew them for TransAmerica and Southern Air Transport, and I remember him remarking how the Herc climbed like a homesick angle when lightly loaded. Lack of Heading hold. Again this is from my old boss. He once said to me taking off in the Herc involved opening the throttles, getting off the ground, and going right to INS, which did most of the flying up to final approach and landing which he said he hand flew. Nice compression of the gear on landing, though the reverse sounds definitely needing attention. One thing I remember him saying that sounded marvelous of this plane was flying during the Aurora Borealis, and how it looked in that Glazed cockpit. As to not being able to move about the plane with the cockpit camera, yea the PMDG DC-6 has the same issue...why do all that great work inside and limit the camera? Great review, and perhaps we are seeing a Captain Sim redemption arc.
Thanks for the info, Pythos - much appreciated! It’s always good to get some clarification from those a little bit more “in the know” : )
Cheers!
The C-130E and H models were my bread and butter for six years in the USAF. I maintained engines and props. The flight deck is rendered very well! Start procedure is right, except for engine start sequence, which is 3,4,2,1 in reality. Aside from that, this is brilliant stuff, and I love your reviews. Guess I need to break down and get back into sims. Left them a long time ago (CFS2 and IL2). Still working on and flying real life aircraft, now. Been at it for over 45 years.
Why exactly do they start in that sequence? Is it hydraulics related?
@@cptmitchell983: I think it's tradition. The APU or GTC provides enough air to start any engine, and you'd think they'd start the one closest to the APU/GTC, but, they usually start with #3. There is no mechanical reason associated with the sequence.
Enjoyed the review especially as I love analogue cockpits and turboprops. CS is a developer I only know through (bad) reputation but I’d be tempted to go for this. Any idea if any developer is planning a Viscount? It’s an aircraft very dear to my heart and one I’d love to fly in the sim.
brave to review anything Captain Sim , however I did buy something without Your review as usually I wait first for Your Spot on Reviews but this time the Just Flight PA-28 Tomahawk had me going oh bother there goes my quid lol . Another good video as usual.
There is SKE Radom on the fuselage, so it’s a shame that it was not incorporated into the sim. Of course, most things are not modeled.
Thaaanks for doing this review. Seems that Captain Sim is back. Decade ago they were really good. I remember also the 727 and I still miss it.
I gotta say Captain Sim did a great job visually..Im going to take a look at there C - 130 Hercules..I actually bought the Captain Sim triple 7 & was disappointed to say the least..They used the interior of the 747 w/ all 4 engine controls..LOL..Perhaps they have upped there game.
what are your color settings man , also dope video really enjoyed it
I got one CS aircraft and will never do again. Just not happy with aircraft after one day of flying. You do get what you pay for and CS shows it.
I am currently looking at my USAF C-130 checklist from years ago when I flew E and H model C-130s. USAF engine start sequence was engine 3, then 4, then 2, then 1. I realize I am in the weeds on this otherwise great video.
Thanks very much for the info, Cpt P; I had a sneaking suspicion it probably wasn’t “1, 2, 3, 4” haha.
I’m glad the video brought back some nice memories! Much appreciated and all the best : )
Thanks for covering this so i can save my money. Current H model aircrew and while this looks good visually, most of the systems modeled are hugely incorrect but glad there is some representation of the legacy herk.

New drinking game: Everytime he says "not modeled" everyone takes a shot. Double if he says "default sounds"
Haha! Probability of death = Certain XD
The CS C-130 for FSX was pretty good. Everything in the cockpit was modeled and worked. It also came with many liveries including the Coast Guard. Such a pity so much in this release is not modeled. Visuals are very good however.
I was a C-130 Flight Engineer for 4 years in the Coast Guard and was stationed at Kodiak Air Station for 2 years. I flew over every inch of Alaska during that time so flying over Denali is VERY familiar to me. I have 2000+ hrs in the "3rd seat" of H models and every switch in that cockpit, especially the overhead one is burned into my brain to this day. So sad that so much of it is inoperable and that they went with older nav gear. The ones I flew on had HSI's, and a fully coupled auto pilot in all mode including INS. In autopilot you flew by turning knobs on HSI and altitude selector. Not that gyro pilot nonsense.
Not a fan of Captain Sim. Their FSX C-130 was fully fleshed out. All systems worked and came with many liveries if you bought their, "pro pack." That pack sold at the astonishing price $135 back in FSX days!! So figure any, "pro pack" version of this one to carry a WHOPPING price! I hope they finish modeling all systems for this release and include a Coast Guard livery. A good C-130 was always a must have for me as I have soooooo many incredible memories as a flight engineer connected to it. I also got just short of 200 hrs in the co pilots seat flying this amazing plane while on 12 hr fishery patrols. In the Coast Guard, they allow FE's who show interest to fly so that pilots can take naps on long patrols too. I always loved flying that magnificent aircraft.
Not willing to drop any money on this unless or until it's complete and EVERYTHING works.
Thanks for the Alaska flight. Brought back many memories.
Let's hope they make it available on the In-game marketplace
Their FSX and P3D models were staples for me in those sims. So they just scrapped the external/internal bit and went with a complete model, eh? Hope they compensate those who bought the external model, and waited 3 years patiently. Oops, just looked and there is no such break for external model purchasers. I'll miss the whole, complicated rigamarole of the FSX/P3D versions. Really enjoyed flying it in those platforms. Thanks for the heads up. PS right click the AP turn knob and it recenters it. Dont know how I remembered that. Also noticed I cannot open ramp and para doors in flight. Bummer. PPS: where can I access the checklist you are using?
I have been i the cockpit of the rnzaf c-130h and this looks nothing like it but I am almost 100% sure the rnzaf have had avionics upgrades
Yeah this is a legacy Hercules i believe so it has all the classic avionics it had back in the 60s
Great review as usual 😊 Almost bought it but glad I didn’t. Been on Fat Albert with RAF a few times at Lyneham. But no Alison Turboprop sounds and a single livery with no option to create more is a deal breaker. If CS was less of a money grabber I’d be more inclined to invest in their stuff.
Cheers, Andy! I’m glad you found the video useful / it saved you some money. Apparently, CS are working on a custom soundset for the aircraft and have “graciously” allowed users to create their own custom liveries for the addon so, let’s see how things pan out. . .
Much appreciated and all the best! : )
My Favourite Plane C 130 After Watching This Review I Brought It Straight Away And Have Spent Around 2 + Hours In It .
I’m glad you’re enjoying the aircraft, Christopher! Happy flying and all the best : )
Thanks.
Hoping they will also releasese oldies like the 707, 727, 757 and 747-200 🙂
So is this an update for their exterior-only model? I've held off buying it despite it being absolutely the aircraft I want most; if this is going to be a separate purchase I'll wait for that.
It's a separate product, they said one was the 130F, the other was the 130something and if you baught the exterior only one, you'll pay full price for the new with the cockpit too
@@alexs6885 thanks for the clarification, buddy. 👍
i dont believe this amazing comeback, im shocked by the fact CaptainSim had the balls to fix the issue which was the C-130. Im actually generally impressed at this new C-130.
Wait for A2A to do their Accusim B17.
Now THAT will be worth waiting for.... 🎉🎉🎉
Does this aircraft have all the buttons available to interact?
AP hdg only works if you set the FD to manual
Love the C-130.... have wanted a good one in flight simulator for a long time. But... captainsim...
its a pity that not every switch has been animated, i know the good old fs2004/fsx version of captain sim`s c-130 and there were almost every switch clickable
So many very nice made aircraft addons and awesome developers out there... There is no need to buy from captain sim.
That's the default King Air 350 sound?
$40? Oh dear! Have Captain Sim not seen what their competitors are doing?
Your fuel panel nor your electrical panel were properly set up for start, the LSGI buttons were always used for start, the aux pump not modeled is pretty sad, good luck with that ramp and door, the engine systems are all out of wack, the modeling looks great the systems are a complete disaster. I owned this plane in FSX I wrote CA sim about this plane and all of its systems issues and I was told it’s just a game so they were not too worried about accuracy and it looks to be the same story for MSFS. I’m hoping the c-130J coming to DCS won’t be this messed up.
wow, I'm just getting back into FSimming, I remember when CSim were 1 of the goto, this is not 1 of those modules...
Welcome back to the hobby, Darren! Happy flying and all the best : )
I hope this is a turn for the better in Captain Sim's progress. I do want to see them at least competitive, they have a niche market worth carving at. Captain Sim's 3D/texturing is fantastic, it'll be a shame to see that talent go to waste!
Is the mighty and my all time love aircraft really back? derfault sound? oh no. that was by far the best in FS2004 and FSX the awesome sound
Hi DT,
Alas, the Herc still has quite a ways to go until it’s back to the quality of its FSX counterpart. That being said, graphically she’s a beaut (clearly) and apparently, CaptainSim are working on a custom soundset (so, fingers crossed on that one!).
Cheers! All the best : )
The four wheel drive of aircraft. RJW-Vet-Hurr,Ut.
When will release the C-130? the old birds are the best, all the automatic planes are nice, but fly a 707,727, C-130, Comet, more like a F28 is the best way to fly. I will wait to see this plane again flying the MSFS skies
For being $40, there shouldn’t be so much Inop/not modeled animations in that cockpit. That’s a big red flag right there as there are many other aircraft add ons out there that charge a lot less with a fully animated, nearly fully animated cockpit. One other person I read in a group stated the sounds are too quiet and I’d have to agree as well.
Does the autopilot have the ability to follow a flight plan via GPS? Not through "traditional" means, but via other apps like Mobile Companion... I've seen some models that theoretically wouldn't have this capability but it would be possible to mimic... Does anyone know if the C-130 would have something like this?
Hi Erik,
I’m afraid I’m not 100% sure on that one; I’d say it’s unlikely, given that one can’t even select “NAV” for the HSI source.
Sorry I can’t be of more help on that. All the best!
Is it possible for you to share your concordes check lists you used in your real as it gets videos?
Hi Geraldo,
I’m afraid I can’t, as I was using a modified version of a payware product’s (Colimata’s Concorde) checklists (and so, the documents are not mine to share). There are some decent checklists available online though, including ones compiled off real-world BA checklists (I basically went through a number of different checklists and then combined them all into one document).
Sorry I can’t be of more help on that one. All the best!
Well, if wanted to fill this thing up locally with AVFUEL it would cost about $35K for 32K Lbs. Is that a good deal? :D
Timothy Dalton should fly this😊
can anyone help me? i play on xbox and whenever i fly any plane and im level my plane seems to turn right or left slightly when im not touching the controlls ive checked fuel there okay i have the same probleem in pitch as well but im pretty sure thats trim but if anyone can help me that would be awsome its making me not wanting to play anymore :)
The bird looks awesome. Therefore, it has less switches that actually work than the default Cessna. It's a no.
I think i will wait for C-130J from Blackbird Simulations instead.
Good day sir, could you give us a link for this scenery please?
Hi Preston,
Both sceneries are freeware, available from Flightsim.to (ICAO codes are down in the video description).
I hope that helps. All the best! : )
I think Captain Sims business model is to target the casual gamer flight simmers who fly predominately in external view and don;t care about systems, flight dynamics, cockpits, etc. I believe back in the day they wanted to be a major player in aircraft simulation, but I think the standards and skills required to produce a high quality systems rich aircraft these days far exceeds their capabilities. I do believe relatively speaking their products in this case should be much cheaper.
I think all of that is a very fair assessment, CV!
At one point in time, CS was actually a pretty solid developer. Clearly, their ambitions have somewhat shifted since then; I can understand them going after a new target market however, that doesn’t excuse some of the dev’s actions over the last couple of years.
Cheers for your thoughts! All the best : )
if they port their 707 and 727 that would go a long way
$50 dolla....OOOoooo Cpt sim room for improvement lets hope some free updates soon then livery and fixes
Yes, the C130 is unfortunately, rather pricey for what it is. I gather CS have stated that the aircraft will be getting a custom soundset and also that they will be “graciously” allowing simmers to create their own repaints for the aircraft haha; I’ll believe it when I see it but, that would certainly be a step in the right direction for the addon.
Cheers, Simon. All the best!
I have too much self respect to give Captain Sim £2, let alone the £32 for this. I'll wait on the Blackbird one.
sadly the BB version is a glass cockpit. I'd mortgage my house for a proper modeled analog c-130.
Do Chitty Chitty Bang Bang next
Is there anyone on here that can help my. My FS suddenly tells me to insert play disc. I dont have a disc never had one. Bought it digital. Any ideas?
If you type "Please insert the Microsoft Flight Simulator Game Disc" and Zendesk into your chosen search engine there's an official step by step guide to fix that issue. In summary it's likely down to an authentication error, I assume you're on Microsoft store rather than Steam?
Terrible sound. No sound for gas generator. Hopefully someone will come out with a sound mod. And I’m not a c-130 pilot but I am fairly positive start up sequence in the real herc is 3-4-2-1 which In the sim it does not allow you to do. Every start up I have seen that is how they do it.
You got it, 3,4,2,1 is the normal start. Also, the overhead panel features GTC controls and the exterior model features an APU… big difference believe it or not. GTC cannot be operated in flight, the APU can.
Apparently, CS has said that a custom soundset will be coming for the Herc - that might address a few of the addon’s downsides (of which, there are of course quite a few).
Cheers for the info, all the best!
This was the complete opposite of a rolling takeoff. You were stopped and aligned with the centerline.
Ordinarily, I would agree with you however, the CS C130 manual seems to define a "rolling takeoff", as any takeoff where power isn't set against the brakes - so, I was operating under that definition.
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Assuming this was what you read:
C-130 NATOPS
8.10.1 Normal Takeoff
“The throttles are gradually advanced toward maximum power, and the crew monitors the engine instruments to ensure maximum power is not exceeded. Normal takeoffs are made with 50-percent flaps. Anytime charted performance is desired, power should be applied before the brakes are released. ***A rolling takeoff is permitted provided charted takeoff power is established within 5 seconds after the aircraft begins its takeoff roll***.”
A rolling takeoff is when you taxi onto the runway and immediately start your takeoff roll without stopping. The 5 seconds you mentioned is only a condition for being PERMITTED to execute a rolling takeoff, but it’s not what makes a takeoff a rolling takeoff. It’s a “Don’t do this if that cannot be performed” thing.
Hi CWG,
It’s written a little bit differently in the CS manual. The section I was referring to states the following:
“A rolling take-off is permitted provided maximum power is established within 5 seconds after either brake release, or aircraft is cleared for take-off”.
I do agree with you, re what ordinarily constitutes a rolling takeoff and I’m sure you’re correct in this case also (the NATOPS manual makes things clearer). The CS manual does state “brakes off” though and obviously, one couldn’t perform a normal rolling takeoff with the brakes set haha; so, in this particular case, I took that to mean that anything outside of setting power on the brakes, was considered to be a “rolling” takeoff in the case of the C130. I didn’t give it a great deal of thought at the time though - unfortunately, I can’t be completely invested in each addon that I review.
Again, I don’t disagree with you, I was just reading between the lines (perhaps erroneously so) of the CS manual.
Cheers! : )
I want to thank you for your overview of these aircreft. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I have been purchasing aircreft. Thanks again. It's obvious why these companies will not allow you to test fly before you purchase. $$
It’s a stunning modelled plane best you’ll ever see .. but it has Carenado systems … it’s that’s simple
Yep, very succinct / fair, Saren (in fact, that might even be a little unkind to Carenado haha).
All the best!
What about the comparison with the Azurpoly's C-160 ?
160 is a nice plane... I got it when it first came out, sure it's come a long way since.
Based on owning the 160 and what I saw about the 130 so far, the 160 is more complete and polished compared to the 130; so far I'd say you pay way more for the 130 but get much less, but there is room for improvement and maybe CS will add more to make it worth it's price, who knows
For now the trusty old Transall seems to be the go to for military cargo in MSFS and it didn't get such a high rating on the store for nothing 😉
@@alexs6885 Staying with the Transall and French Air force thank you
You're welcome 🍻
I think it's save to say that most of waht AP didn't implement in the 160 is because of sim limitations and they haven't found a work around yet
Hi Loki,
Alex sums things up pretty nicely. I have a review of the C-160 available also so, one should be able to contrast / compare between the 2 videos / products. The Transall is certainly a more complete product and has had more care and attention put into its sounds / systems etc (though of course, there are still areas in which the C-160 could be improved).
Cheers, all the best!
alot of smoke from the wheels no??? lol
Hi Norman,
I think that’s snow, being kicked up by the wheels / prop wash. It’s a nice effect but, seems to be rather “all or nothing” within the sim haha (even a light dusting of snow will produce the same effect).
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
Captain sim is killing it lately
I’m torn on this one. $40 for an aircraft which doesn’t have sound signatures changing upon window opening/closing. Clear cutting of corners.
But the good quality interior modelling plus half decent flight model does appeal.
On balance though, a no from me. ‘Reducing’ the price (or at least, appearing to) by 20% upon product launch or even after just five minutes beyond launch is disingenuous at best. Makes it look like a deal when they just planned on charging 40 bucks all along.
Takes more than some fancy modelling to convince me in this case. CS remain, for me, the biggest shysters in the industry. So on balance I won’t be getting it, even though it *may be* a step in the right direction.
I suspect MS took them they had to up the quality or get delisted.
Does it have "CTRL + E" also? Oops...I think I have come to the wrong place 😅
No idea, Bård - I’m afraid I have actually removed the CTRL and E keys from my keyboard entirely : P
(In all seriousness though, I’m afraid I didn’t try and so can’t say - apologies).
Cheers and all the best! : )
Can’t even enter the cargo bay on Xbox?
Will Captain let us make some liveries or are we all about to get sued???
How does he knows so many info about so many different aircrafts? Jeez this guy is no chill!
I don’t know about “no chill”, HS - I’m currently sitting out in the sun, with a nice cold drink : P
but yeah, aviation has been a lifelong passion and I make sure I do a little homework ahead of every review - it’s that simple : )
All the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Let's hope your passion never ceases, and you keep bringing us such great content!
Haha, many thanks, sir! : )
It seems to me that CS have made enough money now, to start employing more developer staff to (re)-start producing better products. But now they have a bad reputation sticking...
Thanks for saving me the 50 bucks.
Haha. You’re most welcome, GG - that’s the aim of the game! ; )
All the best!
If anyone here wants just a taste of why CS's reputation is the way it is, consider that they offer payware liveries for their 767 series...And their 767 is a re-skin of Asobo's 747.....
I find the 76 particularly galling. Forgetting the flight model and the performance, would it be so difficult to change the appearance of the engine indicators? Why bother having a beautiful detailed interior, and then drop the ball on one of the things you spend the most time looking at.
Very true, G-STAV and CaptainSim (unlike some other developers) pretty much deserve all of the derision they get (they’ve brought it upon themselves). The C130 is the only (modern) CaptainSim product to date, that I have had any interest in taking a look at and whilst CS do seem to have “upped their game” a little, I know that for many, it will be far too little, far too late.
Cheers, all the best!
Didn't CaptainSim used to be one of the best developers on fsx/p3d? What happened? Did they lose their balls some time along the way?
Well, it depends who you ask, SkyHawk however, I used to really enjoy most of CaptainSim’s FS2004 / FSX output. I’m speculating a bit but, I think what happened, is that CaptainSim started to lose some of their more talented devs and also shifted towards a model of selling products in multiple “pieces” - that obviously precipitated a bit of a vicious spiral and we find ourselves where we are today. CaptainSim has been one of the most cynical and “vindictive” devs in MSFS to date so, it will be interesting to see whether or not the C130 marks somewhat of a turning over of a new leaf (though for many simmers, what CS has done, is unforgivable at this point).
It’s a shame but, it’s not the first company that has fallen into this trap and I’m sure it won’t be the last. . .
All the best! : )
No Heading HOLD ? 😞
there should be a counter on this video for how many times you say: "not modeled". it tells you enough about this product. the price was the final nail in de coffin for me.
Really...don't give the money grabbing dev the time...sorry ITB, this is the only video I'm not watching in full.....dodgy devs deserve no redemption.....I'll wait for the JF PA-38 Tomahawk

A good review as ever, but I won't stick around for the whole thing this time as I can already see what this offering is. For me it's closer to something we'd see from maybe a very talented freeware developer. Lacking as many basics as it does though, it's hard to see this as anything other than half-baked, coming from a payware dev.
With that price and only payware liveries it is a no go for me. I stick with the AzurPoly C160 Transall.

I thought this addon had no cockpit ?
Hi Jo,
That was CaptainSim’s previous C-130E; the new C-130H (and I shouldn’t have to say this haha) comes with a virtual cockpit also. The new addon is a big improvement over CaptainSim’s previous Herc however, there’s no upgrade route for previous customers, which I do think is rather poor.
I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
