If a snapping turtle has a head bigger than yours then it would be over 400lbs. I have been trapping snappers for 35 years now and we caught one that had a shell that was 3 1/2 foot across and it weighed 150+ pounds.

Every turtle you left the hook in will die. After 20+ years of life for those bigger turtles. Wow. That’s a shame.

No they won’t that turtle will find water in the next 48 hours and the hook I use dissolve the turtle will be fine I’ve bin doing this a while abs still see turtles I’ve trapped over the years
