- This video is the story so far of Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) and Kristen Kringle (Chelsea Spack) from the FOX series Gotham. I don't own Gotham or any of the characters.

i find him really cute !! he is my fav character in gotham !!
Though I find Edward Nygma considerably strange, I think Kris Kringle is hardly in any place to be calling people weird.

It's clear that she doesn't like him. She is weirded out but pities him and is only being polite in every scene. It's HE who misconstrues everything she does as affection because he likes her so much. When his delusions are interrupted by reality, he gets upset, like when he finds out she is going out with someone and throws away his flowers.
Umm it's not like he ever asked her out dude. The closest he ever came was writing that poem other then that it was always work related and he was extremely nice to her whereas she was decent but very condescending at times.
+MyWorldOrder It's obvious to everyone in the room how he feels toward her and she tries to make it clear how she feels toward him, though with decreasing patience and tact as he continually grasps at straws pursuing her. You don't need to ask someone out and be explicitly rejected to still have all of this portrayed. It's not about him being polite, but it's more that he reveres and idolizes her as a crush. He doesn't really know her, which makes his actions unnerving, even though on paper, it's all technically polite.
Not really I mean sure he actually made an advance with the poem thing but she hardly even rejected him she apologized and said how thoughtful it was. Of course she then told him not to say anything else but that can be interpreted in a couple of different ways not just a flat out "fuck off" as it should've been if she really doesn't like him that much. Other then that he only talked to her about work related topics or out of concern that the one guy was smacking her around which anybody who cared would have. So yes he is s but creepy and probably should let it go but it's not like a freaky obsession on the outside just yet.
+MyWorldOrder We don't see much of Edward's personal life to verify for certain just how obsessed he is, but to see his attempts as small talk and not infer the countless self motivational talks and "how to woo a girl" google searches beforehand is to not imagine these characters as whole people who exist even when the camera isn't on them. In season 2, you can see him falling apart at the seams and see more of his thought processes, which do often revolve around Kringle, which have a precedent in season 1. He's a lot crazier in season 2, but his actions and thoughts even in season 1 were always toxic for him and Kringle, not in the same way as her douche of a boyfriend, but tragically, still toxic. The world just doesn't work the way he thinks it does/should and that's his flaw and what will turn him mad.

I'm late to the gotham fandom but hi, um i have a few thoughts and if you are invested into Ed & Kristen's relationship as i am, and you have free time, why not read my rant :)
From the comments, I have seen a divide in opinions, such as some people think that Ed is a creepy towards Kringle, and some say that Kringle didn't deserve him. I see why for both of the points: Ed did do creepy things, for example, he sniffed her, give her weird gifts, endlessly trying to gain some sort of affection from Kristen. Ed always had some hope for him and Kristen to become an item, and because of this, you can say that he was "weird", "creepy", "obsessive", etc. On the other hand, I've heard people say that "Kristen didn't deserve Ed", or "she was mean to him", something along those lines. In my opinion, most of the time, she was fairly polite towards Nygma. It was obvious that he liked her, and she tried to be patient with him, although a few times, like when she said "you are so odd", is quite rude, and considering Ed gets enough comments like this - or worse comments - its an overwhelming amount of hate towards Ed. Kristen see's this, like when Arnold took Ed's poems to mock him, and I feel like she pitted him, and overtime, she warmed up to him more.
I think that Ed's behaviour towards Kristen can be creepy, but, his motives are sweet. Its obvious to me that Ed has got asperger's syndrome (AS), so when Nygma is giving her the cupcake with bullets in it, he's only trying to compliment Kringle in his own way, with his love for riddles and puzzles mixed in it. He has never been with a woman, and in S1, although he is in his late 20's (28 I believe?), he is very boyish, and in later seasons, his voice drops, and he matures (I think that Kristen played a massive role in Ed becoming more mature). He does think that every polite gesture Kristen does for him is some act of affection, but I feel like most people overthink/misunderstand their crushes gestures, but Nygma having AS, as well as having feelings for Kristen, he has more 'misunderstandings'. I'm not trying to justify his actions, I just want to explain them more. I just think that Edward is very misunderstood and he doesn't have much experience with women, so this is his way of showing his affection. With Kringle, like I said she was trying to be patient with Nygma, and a few times she was rude and cold towards him, but after understanding Edward more, she warms up to him.
My overall opinion on Edwards and Kristen's relationship is that, Ed liked Kristen as soon as he met her (he says so), and ever since he has been wanting to be with her. He shows his affections in unique ways, like with the gifts, that can come off as strange, but his motives are never malicious. Kristen has always put up with Ed's affections by trying to remain patient, calm, and professional, but when she is hurt by Ed (when he messed up the files, him saying that he was 'helping her') or doesn't understand him (the cupcake with the bullets), she gets frustrated and either confronts him about it, or talk about it with co-workers (she calls him weird to Arnold). But, when Ed explains his actions, and says that he doesn't mean to offend Kristen, she starts to understand him. For example, at 4:25, when he said "the cupcake is sweet, the bullet is deadly, a beautiful woman is a dangerous thing", implying that she's beautiful, for a brief moment, we see Kristen be flattered by this, but then becomes confused and bewildered. I believe this is the start of Kristen warming up to Ed, and understanding him. Eventually, she begins to be amused by him, and eventually starts to like him (in a professional way), and when Edward meets officer Tom Dougherty, when Kristen walks away from Ed, we see regret in her eyes (10:02). Spoilers for season 2: when Ed saves Kristen's life, then she definitely sees him a new light, and because of this, she dates him.
oh, by the way, if you are wondering on my informal opinion of Ed, i adore the guy!! & i do like Kristen as well, and she definitely didn't deserve what happened to her, its tragic on both sides. I'm way too invested into Edward Nygma, and i find him so curious, & i miss kristen :(
Thought it was also cool when you play with Nygma's name you OBVIOUSLY get the Mr. E (mystery) E Nygma (enigma) but you also get E Magyn (imagine) if you switch the letters in his last name around. Pretty cool name =)

Interesting dynamic between the characters- I wonder if there will be more interaction for the both of them in the 2nd season? Also, since I have not watched more than 1 episode of the show, and only know most of the big-name Batman villains (Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Scarecrow, etc.) can someone tell me if Kristen becomes a villain? I'm sure with that last name there has to be something ahead for her.

Wait Kristen smiled at him after he explained the Thing about the bullet and the cupcake. She stopped after Flass showed up. She was even flirting a Little bit at first when they started talking about Organisation but Nigma goes to far. Is she trying to fit in and scared anyone could Think that she likes him? Is that's the way she chooses her Partners? "Please nothing weird in my life...just easy Grey like the rest of fucking gotham?!" Is this the GCPD or fucking High School where everyone is trying to fit in because of...it's High School?! I mean it doesn't Need to be in a romantic way but she has friendly Feelings for him. The romantic Thing is Nigmas Impulse alone. But hell is this subplot childish...And why is she that man eating? Flass? Tom? Is this supposed to be some "Always the silent ones`" or something? I mean you don't touch the ass of your girlfriend in front of her working colleagues. I don't get it. Is she the reason he becomes the riddler? WTF?! That's not the ONLY reason that Ed will become the Riddler - Ed is under appreciated by Bullock and every cop in the GCPD except Gordon. Captain Essen temporarily suspended him and the Med. Examiner hated him. Everyone finds him annoying and useless - this all adds fuel to a massive fire that is Edward Nygma.
