Hey chuck, great video. You summed up all the key points in such a short video. I am a 21 year old running my own remodeling construction company over here in northern Virginia and it can be really rough some months to get leads and keep steady work. I'll do jobs ranging between 5-15k back to back, then ill end up flat lining and getting small jobs to no jobs. I'm learning marketing is the biggest tool in this game. This video was very helpful. Thank you for your content.
PS, you seem very transparent and I would like to see a video on getting licensed with all the aspects of plumbing, electrical, and contractors licensing. maybe a walk through on getting insured and pulling permits for contracted jobs as well. its very difficult learning these steps on my own to further my business.
Hey Chris! Thanks for the comment. It can be very difficult to figure this stuff out but it's a good lesson in business. Nobody can figure this stuff out for you... You have to figure it out yourself. Channels like mine can help you but ultimately, you need to learn to think for yourself and not take anyone's word without a grain of salt. You can Google pretty much everything you need to know about the questinos you asked. You can also march down to the building department or call the department of licensing and ask the straight up what you need to show in order to do business. It's different in every state.
You can do it Chris! You are very young and if you stick with it, by the time you are my age you will be 10x as successful as I am. Go crush it!

I was looking into possibly becoming a contractor. Obviously, in order to do that I would need to work a construction job; however, I was also wanting to take up MMA as one of my hobbies that could possibly turn into a career if I end up being good enough at it. The earliest MMA class starts at 7:00pm. Do you think a construction job would be able to fit my schedule, or are they too sporadic?
In my experience, you can find a way to make everything work. Construction and MMA go together well. They are both physical and both teach you how to endure uncomfortable situations. I would say do it until you can't anymore. Just take action. No sense sitting around debating. There's no right answer and you can change your mind at any second. JUST GO FUCKING DO IT! :)

Definitely make a list of all the GCs in your area and be calling them regularly to let them know you want to work with them. Get a few of them doing their foundations and you'll be well on your way. Tell them how to stay on top the secret that no one knows and want to share, it call superior customer service. You will only show on top if you provide 5 Star service all the time.
You can show on top and give crap service if you're willing to spend on the marketing. In the long run, the superior customer service will make your business uber successful, however. Lead gen is getting more expensive so if every 10 customers you get are not turning into 14 through referrals, then you are playing a losing game.

I hope you can make an app where contractor can list their services and just have people call.
And as far as paying contractor can subscribe per month and pay as much as $30 per month or 10 per add and if it works contractor still use the app otherwise use the old mighty CL
The cost is always going to go up to what people are willing to pay. If it's 10 per ad today, another contractor will be willing to pay 11 tomorrow. That will continue until an equilibrium happens and the price finds a balance. Any good business person would be willing to spend $1000 if they knew they would make $5000 from it. It's just math.
