Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature 216g
1 cup dark brown sugar, tightly packed 200g
1/2 cup sugar 100g
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons maple syrup (real maple syrup or pancake syrup would work)
1 3/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour 230g
1 Tablespoon cornstarch cornflour in UK
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
3 cups old fashioned rolled oats 285g
2 cups chocolate chips I prefer semisweet or dark, but milk or even white chocolate chips would work, depending on your preference
Instructions
00:00 Introduction
00:22 Beat butter in the bowl of a stand mixer (or using an electric beater) for about 30 seconds. Add sugars and beat until light and fluffy (pause to scrape down sides and bottom of bowl, if needed).
01:09 Add eggs, one at a time, beating until combined.
01:19 Stir in vanilla extract and maple syrup.
01:56 In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
02:33 Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture until completely combined. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl so ingredients are well-mixed.
02:52 Gradually stir in oats until completely combined and then stir in chocolate chips.
03:15 Chill dough in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
03:25 Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and prepare cookie sheets by lining with parchment paper.
03:33 Drop cookie by rounded 2-3 Tablespoon-sized ball onto parchment paper, spacing at least 2" apart.
04:01 Bake on 350F (175C) for 12-13 (edges should be slightly browned, centers may still be slightly underbaked but shouldn't be raw, they'll bake completely as they cool).
04:15 Allow cookies to cool for 5-10 minutes on cookie sheet before transferring to cooling rack to cool completely.

I haven't been disappointed with a single recipe of yours. Many thanks!!
I'm SO happy you loved them!! 🤩
I came across this video. Tried many cookie recipes on CZcams. By far this is the best cookies recipe ever.👏👏
That is so awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️

Another great recipe. My husband loved it.
I'm so glad everyone enjoyed them so much! :)
I've started baking since quarantining, and THIS recipe is the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookie I've found on CZcams! My family loves them so much! I sometimes modify it by also adding chopped walnuts and it also tastes great!
I’m so glad your family enjoys the cookies so much! 😊
These were great!
I’m glad you enjoyed them!
These cookies are so delicious 😋 I knew they were gonna be fantastic when I tasted the dough 🤤 I had to make a couple adjustments, but they are still incredible! Thank you for sharing with us 🙏🏼❤️
I am so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
I made them and they are delicious! Thank you!!❤
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed them! 😊
I've tried a BUNCH of your cookie recipes, and these might just be my FAVORITE. My taste-testers agree. Except, I think they're best with raisins instead of chocolate chips. But we've found 1.5 cups of raisins has a better cookie-to-raisin ratio than 2 cups. Even with chocolate chips, these are still FIRE. Going to try a hybrid chocolate chip/raisin version next time. Such a killer base cookie recipe. Always keep coming back to your channel. You're the best! CZcams needs to give you more love and exposure!!!
Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed these cookies so much. They are definitely one of my favorites, although I am not a big fan of raisins so I'd have to pass on that part. Happy Baking! :)
Love these.. and thanks again for the secret tips! 👍💖
Enjoy! 😊
I really appreciate your channel
Thank you! :)
These cookies are really, really good. I looked all over CZcams for the "best" oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe and I think I found it here. I followed the recipe to the letter but used a type of chocolate chips that are 50% chips and 50% chunks. The batter is very, very stiff especially after a 30 minute stay in the refridgerator. I accordingly extended the bake time to around 18 minutes at 350 which resulted in a very "gnarly" yet very delicious cookie of about 2 3/4" wide by 1" high. I love the abdundance of hardy old fashioned rolled oats balanced with some real "in your face" chocolatiness. The cinnamon and maple syrup are very interesting additions as well. Thanks for sharing!
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
Hi love you Recipes. Tank you
Hi, Sam:It is great the way you break your recipes down to make them as easy for one to make as it's possible to do...you have a real talent and it is much appreciated....I am not kidding when I say I now make a batch of your brown butter chocolate chip cookies on a regular basis...I have just finished getting the ingredients together to make this one and I have no doubt it will be another winner! I made a special trip to get the old fashioned Oats... not something I would normally have on hand,,..but I am sure that I will now.
Thank you so much! I am so glad you find everything helpful, and I love hearing about your success. 😊
I've used this recipe a couple times and it slays. My kids love the cookies. Thanks for the recipe - \m/

I found this channel from your blog and might I just say I love your recipes. I tried the pizza dough recipe on your blog twice and made the best pizza ever and trust me I'm not the best cook as yet but your recipe was amazing.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pizza dough. 😊
Your recipe sounds delicious, I’m going to try it. Thank you 🙏
I hope you love it!
Sugar Spun Run I made them last night and they turned out fantastic, the only change I made was I used steel cut oats cause that’s what I had in the pantry.
Making these now!!
I hope you love them! 😊
Lovely, thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
I made them without cornflour and replaced syrup with a little honey and they came out great thanks for the recipe
I’m so glad you enjoyed them! Thank you for your feedback! 😊
Oh man that looks so goood :3 nice and chewy
They are so tasty!! Enjoy! 😊
I did not have old fashioned oats so instead of using half cup of white sugar I used quarter and then used 7 individual packets of maple brown instant oats, everything else was as in the recipe. It came out awesome! Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed them! 😊
Holy smokes that Maple syrup 🙌🏼 just finished making them so so good!!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
This is by far the best, I’ve tried so many recipes from CZcams, I guess this one is to keep forever now. Followed the recipe as is. For me the proportion of flour and oatmeal are perfect.
I am so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
Another keeper! I only put in 1 cup of chocolate chips and that was plenty. Very tasty.
Glad you liked them!
might be the best cookies I've ever had and made 🔥
I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much!
Girl I trust you with all your recipes 😊
Thank you! 😊😊
Thank you so so much. This taste is the best. I made from 2 other people and this one is the best. But i have the ad this. That if you bake after you put 30 mins in fridge is nice and big and flat. Like regular cookies. But if you leave it in the fridge till the next day to bake. The cookies look like muffin in the bak sheets. Which it still cool looking. You can also go 50/50 on brown sugar and splenda. Cuz the first one without splenda is to sweet for me. But yeah will make it again with splenda😊
I am so glad you enjoyed them so much! 😊😊
I just baked delicious taste my🍪🍪 thankyou ❤🙌
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
I found nice chocolate chip cookie recipe for my grand daughter, she asked me the other day 😀 thank you so much
I'm so glad she enjoyed it so much! :)
Made these today and they came out absolutely DELICIOUS! Kinda messed up and accidentally added baking powder (1 1/2 teaspoons) but they came out really good regardless. Definitely my go to!
I'm so glad they still turned out! :)
Safe to say your recipes are the best made yout m and m cookies then banana bread now these amazing started a baking businesses at skl and everyone loves them
Thank you so much! I'm so glad everyone enjoys them so much! :)
One of my all-time favorite cookie recipes. They're great with chocolate chips, but this recipe makes for a KILLER oatmeal raisin cookie using 1.5 cups of raisins. OMG. And can be taken to the next level by drizzling with a basic powdered sugar/milk/vanilla glaze for a decadent treat.
I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much! I LOVVEEE the sound of that drizzle on top. 😊
Hey Sam
I just baked these 2 hrs ago. I gave a few to my neighbors :D.
I even had my mom try one but when she bit into it she thought he was underbaked because of the melted chocolate in the middle 🤣
Still thank you for posting
I just made these and omg my husband devoured them haha. Thank you so much!
I’m so glad he enjoyed them! My husband does the same thing, sometimes it’s frustrating I want some! 😂😂
I did it today!
I hope you loved it! :)
Really easy recipe to follow! I've tried this myself and here are some of my thoughts:
• Instead of 3 cups of old fashion rolled oats, I did 2 cups because after 2 cups I've noticed there was a LOT of oats and I didn't think the 3rd cup was necessary -- but this is totally a personal preference!
• I also added a bit less salt than what was stated, but that's also because I prefer it that way
Overall, an amazing recipe! It was so soft and chewy, my whole family loved it! It makes a LOT of cookies as well :)
I wanted to try this Because i saw all these Positive comments!!!! Im so glad i did. I just finished baking a batch and they ARE Great!!! ❤thanks for this recipe!
To anyone else reading this, don’t hesitate to try it🥹im a chocolate / sweets lover
I'm so glad you enjoyed them!
girl let me tell ya i made these with splender brown sugar your recipe is by far the best i"ve had thanks for sharing DELISH
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
Hello, I’ve just been searching for an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe and this one just looks ideal. We are baking for the annual Macmillan fund raiser (for cancer charities, tea and cake etc) and I wanted something different from a cake, so I am hoping these cookies will be popular. I plan to use oat flour as I have to be gluten free, so here goes …… 🍪 🇬🇧 Thank you for the recipe!
I hope everyone loves them! 😊
They taste fantastic and I haven't baked them yet
I bet they won’t last long when they are finished baking. 😉😊
Hi Sam! Thank you for this amazing recipe! I enjoy your channel. Can this recipe be cut in half?
Sure thing! I hope you love them! 😊
Looks great What are yoir thoughts on adding 1/3 cup of pumpkin or sweet potato puree to the wet mixture? Should i add a little bit more flour or use 2 egg yolks instead of the white in the egg and squeeze excess water from the puree? Id love your thoughts as id like toake rhese today.
Unfortunately without having tried it I can’t say for sure. You’ll definitely be adding moisture and it could really change the cookie.
Hi deary I love your videos but for this oatmeal cookie can I use honey instead of mayple syrup.
If you want to add bannana to this recipe would you add it at the beginning with the sugar?
Wow❤️❤️
🍫Great recipe! 🍫
Thank you 😊
Made and love them! And I know you aren’t suppose to eat the dough, but even that was delicious
I’m so glad you enjoyed the cookies so much! I know how it goes, sometimes that batter just smells too good. Stay safe! 😊
These are AMAZING! I converted my fiance from a cookie skeptic into a cookie lover with just one of these cookies
All I got to say is you're a good cook
Thank you 😊
Thank you for your recipe, can I substitute the marple syrup with honey?
Yes, absolutely! Enjoy!
Hi! I’m excited to try these today. Can I use salted butter and omit the salt?
Sorry for the delay! You would need to cut the salt by 1/2 teaspoon. 😊
Made these today and they are incredible😍!
Side note: my plastic spatula snapped while I was mixing the dough and as a result I punched myself in the lip.
Lesson learned.
So I recommend just using your hand to mush up the oats and chocolate chips into the mixture when it gets too thick for the mixer or spatula 🤣🤦♀️
I also scooped these onto my baking sheets and stuck them in the freezer for 15 minutes while the oven preheated to speed up the process and not wait 30 minutes for the dough to chill in the fridge. I scooped out all the cookies onto several baking sheets in the meantime and alternated them. Having several baking sheets comes in really handy.
The cookies are delicious and have been added to my list of favorites. Thank you for much for the recipe!
Oh no! 😳 I'm glad you enjoyed them regardless!
Would I be able to use melted butter instead, I know other recipes of yours call for that.... thanks Sam
That will work, but they will likely need to chill longer. :)
These oatmeal cookies are fantastic. I added some honey to mine. Not sure how much. I just tipped the fat bear on its head and squeezed his fat belly till it poured out. But I will tell you these were the best cookies I ever ate. The best!
Yum! 😋
I want to make a super buttery 'soft' shortbread cookie....how about a recipe using your browned butter?
Would it work well with raisins instead or just plain oatmeal?
You can certainly add some raisins. 😊
Can a person use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour? Also, what is the approximate weight of the scooped cookie dough?
It could work, but I'm not 100% sure how they will turn out. I have not weighed the scooped dough unfortunately. :(
Thank you for using grams for the ingredients 🙏
It's so much easier! :)
Could I add bananas to the mix? and how long do they keep for? I'd like to make them for the week.
They should keep for up to a week at room temperature. If you mash bananas in you will be adding a lot more moisture to the recipe so I’m not sure how they would turn out.
Love these cookies!!! Taste amazing, but mines doesn’t seem to spread as much. Still very good!!
I'm so glad you liked them!! If they didn't spread correctly, it could've been because the dough was too cold, or your flour was over-measured.
@@SugarSpunRun definitely could have been the flour part because I did not use a scale to accurately measure it. Once again they were amazing and will be making these for Thanksgiving and Christmas !
If I don't hv rolled oat can I use quick oat?
I don't recommend using them, because old fashioned oats give you a chewier, heartier cookie. They could potentially still turn out.
is the corn starch optional? or is it a must have ingrediant for these?
It’s highly recommended as it adds to the softness and chewiness of these cookies. 😊
Thank you for this recipe! I am new to baking & thought you were easy to follow! My batter was quite dry, lol my oats kept falling off my clumps of cookies, so I dosed it with more syrup & butter & then it became a sticky mess but they're still awesome. I hope the 2 full eggs will make my next batch more workable. Thanks for sharing this recipe! My husband was skeptical of trying anymore of my cookies so now faith is restored hahaha.
I’m glad you enjoyed them! You may have had a touch too much flour if they were really crumbly, but I’m glad you made them work. 😊
I made them again today & left out the extra tbsp's of flour, only 2 cups of oats, replaced a cup of chocolate chips with raisins and a tbsp of water for good measure haha, in addition to making sure my butter was soft and creamy and 2 room temp full eggs. They are so good and esthetically pleasing, I'm impressed😆So thank you so much! I look forward to trying more of your creations!
again with the fractions? You have me hooked on your browned butter chocolate chip cookies I have made them weekly for a month now ...I think they are the best chocolate chip cookie that I've ever had and I know for a fact it's the best that I have ever made...I like the way you make your recipes easy to make ...you know you don't need six bowls the food processor blender tempering and all the other drivel that's supposed to be impressive because the recipe is miserable to make.... now seeing these cookies after you baked them...I have got to give them a try....I so wish that I had seen it before I went to the grocery today...I'd start this recipe fractions and all right now if I had those darn oats! I do what to know what you think about the regular milk with vinegar to create buttermilk...since I'll be going back for oats I'll pick up the buttermilk as well...can't wait to taste one of these cookies...
I think you are going to love these cookies! Honestly I like to try to make the recipes as simple and reproducible as possible. I really enjoy when my viewers have success and enjoy their treats without having to go through a huge hassle. 😊
Sorry I forgot the buttermilk reply, but I do use the substitute if I don’t have buttermilk on hand. 😊
Can i leave out the Maple Syrup? What's the substitute for it?
Some people use honey but it will change the flavor profile a bit. 😊
I wondered if I could brown butter...then let it set up again to make a shortbread cookie...which I have never done....seriously the first time I ever made chocolate chip cookies was your recipe....I got into making pralines for a minute...then tried fudge which was not a success to put it mildly....I'm glad this recipe calls for some maple syrup....remember I told you about the container I bought so I have plenty of it....
I have not made a shortbread cookie with brown butter, but it can certainly still be used after it cools and sets up again. 😊
Hi ! I don't have brown sugar what can I do about it . Can I make cookies with normal white sugar only?
Sorry for the delayed response! Yes you can just use granulated sugar, it will just change the flavor of the cookies. 😊
Making these today (adding walnuts). 😆
I hope you love them! :)
@@SugarSpunRun Made them and my husband and I have finished half of them!!!
What if I use almond flour as opposed to regular flour how long do they bake for
I would think the baking time would still be the same here.
Can I use quick oats for this reciepe?
You can they may just not be quite as chewy like they should be. 😊
Sam! I want to make some Oatmeal Raisin cookies. Your old-school oatmeal cookie recipe with 1 1/2 cups of raisins added, or this recipe substituting raisins for the chocolate chips? I LOVE your "worst" chocolate chip cookie recipe and the "secret" syrup ingredient, so I lean towards this, but which would you recommend for Oatmeal Raisin cookies?
Either will work fine but I would probably use this one. You can just pull out the chocolate chips and replace with the raisins. :)
@@SugarSpunRun Thank you! Just whipped up a batch of these with raisins. Going to let it chill in the fridge overnight, if not longer. The dough smelled amazing, can't wait to try!
I hope you love them!
Would it taste different without the maple syrup?
Yes it will definitely change the flavor. You can check out my regular oatmeal cookies if you are looking to exclude the maple syrup. 😊😊 m.czcams.com/video/YOgZHfGMzm4/video.html
Can I do this with brown butter? 😊😊
Sounds delicious! 😊
