I'm the "kid" in the video… I can't begin to explain what a thrill it was every night to play in Kim's band. It doesn't get much heavier than Kim and Peter. Monster talents!!! And both sweet, lovely guys that made me feel very welcome even though I was an awkward geeked out 19 yr old. Lou Molino on drums sounds amazing. This was actually kind of a rough gig for the band, because we had only played a couple of live shows together before doing a live telecast (this video). In hindsight I wish we had filmed this after being on the road for a few months, because nothing gels a band together like that. I have to say though that this performance sounds great, and it's a testament to how good Kim and crew are. "All We Are" is a standout and Kim's emotional guitar solo at the end says everything you need to know about how to play it like you mean it. Thank you so much again for uploading this show!!!!!!!

I saw you guys in Winnipeg back in 89 for this tour and it remains a stand out of any concert I've seen (before and after). Over the years people would call "Bullshit!" when I told them Kim opened the show with the three members of the band (besides him) playing on 3 separate drum kits - and not only were they incredible on their respective instruments, but awesome drummers as well! Now at least this vid's on CZcams to vindicate me! Haha! Must have been a sound man's dream having 3 kits mic'd on stage. :) I just saw Kim and the boys again this past weekend and it was phenomenal!. Keep on rocking' Greg! You've down so incredibly well for yourself!

Amazing years later I'm watching vids from your studio, plugins etc. Your work with Adam Lambert, Adele or was it Katy etc. Seeing Lou Molino with Trevor Rabin on Anerley Rd. video. Still don't know how Kim got Lou to play. What a treat that must have been.. How time flies. Congrats on all your success.

oh shit. . I was there! a girlfriend's delinquent cousin got us in because he was the cocaine dealer to the Kee's door staff security. .
The Kim Mitchell Band was so tight and talented on stage. . a really great show. . we had no clue what we were in for(!)
I separated myself from the beer drinking hoser fans, by watching close over the stage from an empty balcony off to the side. . my chance to take it in, in awe. .
the moments in between songs have been edited out. . but for example, the drummer played and sang Rick Astley's 'never gonna give you up' solo under the spotlight. .
when I hear Kim's guitar it reminds me of a possibly unspoken tradition of Canadian guitar riffs that echo/remind us of Canadian lakes, sky and wilderness :)
a super fun curveball entrance with the drum intro :)
and if I'm not mistaken, these guys are pretty damn sober. . beautiful natural vibes on stage . I'm still impressed by the musicianship and vocals coming through. . thank-you to whoever posted this. . a real gem to see again xo

I remember when I was in my twenties in the seventies, we used to listen to Max Webster on our fantastic stereos...full blast. There was nothing better. I was fortunate to grow at a magical time where music was everything and something new everyday. What has happened to great bands of this caliber? Todays music / performances don't even come close!!!

An exciting moment for me when Max Webster - let’s give that name the respect they deserve - played in Trenton one night. I want to say between 78 to 79. The bar was ‘Pandora’s Box’ or just the Box. A popular bar, still it was still considered quite a coup to snag these guys to come to such a humble location. Max Webster was very strong and urgent then. I never saw so many people crammed in there. Kim actually had people sitting at his feet, but he took the crowd very well and adjusted on the fly very well. After the show I stopped in at a Highway restaurant/ gas station on the 401 to grab a sandwich and to my dismay in walks Kim and the bass player back then. I asked as politely as I could if I could do a quick photo of us and Kim was excellent about it. I can’t even remember why I had this small Kodak camera on me. I still have that photo. Kim was holding a sandwich and ‘ A SODA ‘ !!! Way long before he even thought about that song. Well I can assure you we both have aged a little since then. I’m an old fat guy now with about 1 or 2 more hairs than Kim. But he has 150 pounds less weight than me, so he wins. I should dig that photo up and send it to him or his ‘people’ and ask him to sign it for me.

Thanks for posting this. This is GREAT!! I stumbled upon Kim Mitchell by watching the Trailer Park Boys. One of their episodes, in the woods camping. Bubbles is peeing in a bush and Ricky says something like lets get drunk and listen to some Mitchell. I could hear the song playing in the background, so I rewound the scene and paused it on the 8-track that Ricky was playing. There was the name Kim Mitchell. I think a lot of people are missing out if they haven't seen Kim or watched this concert. Again, thanks for posting this.

I saw this tour a couple of months later at the Orpheum in Vancouver. By that time Lou Molino had departed and Greg Critchley was playing drums. The 3 drummer lead off was still going on (an all time great way to open a show, I must say!) but they kicked into Battle Scar, rather than That's The Hold. I do recall seeing this on MuchMusic before I saw the Vancouver show, so it would have been aired very shortly after being filmed. I have a VHS recording from Much kicking around somewhere, along with my green Rockland Wonderland tour shirt. I kept a half an eye on Greg Wells career over the years and was glad to see he has gone on to have a great career in music. This was one of my favorite shows, thanks for digging it up and posting.

WOW! ..PRETTY COOL, to come across this, live time capsule. I WAS AT THIS SHOW! Ha! awesome...Long story getting there that day, nearly missed it with broken down cars on the 400, 2 within 15 minutes apart traveling... but made it by 8:30. : ) Back patio with the crowd of boats, the people, what a party! LOTS of beer, good cheer and well, the talent Kim, Peter, drums (and the kid on the keys lol) come on, you can play a pretty awesome beat on the drums too bud! THE KEE, is the place in the summer, in CANADA, Yeah! Every summer for years, at least twice a summer, we were there! Love it! Thanks for the great memories Kim, all of you! You all rocked!

a fun show... i scanned the crowd shots closely to see if i could spot anyone there i knew back in the day - but no. i'd bet there was somebody there i used to know. i'm from that "region" ... Orillia, to be exact. was a Mitchell/Max fan even from early high school, when Webster played a "dance". but by '89, i had moved to Ottawa, where i did see Kim on that tour. and a few more times, even with the re-formed Max Webster.
great video... thanks for posting... so many 80's mullets and mustaches... and rock'n'roll cuties!

Kim wasn't a huge success and maybe his lyrics where not deep poetic masterpieces but the man has talent and plays his soul straight out. You get what you see with Kim. In my eyes he has a big spot on rock in my eyes
