I agree with a previous commenter. The guns having a max effective range is good, but a min effective range is just weird and has no basis in reality (understanding that it's just a game). I'm a weapon hoarder in this game, so I like the idea of making the guns situational, it justifies my hoarding beyond graphical differences, but I think the close range mechanic is too much. I do also like the new proposed AI changes. In cases like Lazar, I usually hit 'em from one angle, then pull back and flank them from another angle, but it always seemed like once you engage them, the AI locked on to you and always knew were you where. Them losing their lock, so flanking actually works, is great.
I guess it replicates the idea that in close combat, a full assault rifle is more difficult to move around and aim... they could instead make the weapon spread lower/do something else...but I get the idea of what they're trying to do
@@sprucemaroose my assumption is that they made the gun mechanics change so that players would be incentivized to diversify the guns they take in raid. If assault rifles were effective at short and medium range or snipers were effective at short, medium and long range, there wouldn't be a need for handguns or PDWs, so they invented this ineffective short range thing so that handguns and PDWS would still have a use.
if ya want to really get into it a sniper would be damn near useless at hand to hand combat range especially against a fast moving mutant because you will have your enemies body blocking all your movement but yeh i do agree with what your saying and understand your point
guns can have a minimum range if you used gyrojets. Of course IRL those are very rare, expensive, and after they were found ineffective in war they stopped being used.
I think most people who say that the new gun mechanics are bad dont consider the fact that enemies are also affected, so now enemies with lets say long range or medium range weapons can be bumrushed with a shotgun and it'll be a (i think) viable strategy due to the damage drop, enemies with short range can be sniped safely from a far, etc
Not entierly sure why a round would do LESS damage at short range. Far range, sure, but things being closer should magically make your bullets do less damage. Instead they should just make the bullet ricochet farther the larger the round it is.
they clarified in the last blogpost that most guns will still be able to do full damage at close range, but you will need to hit a smaller hitbox. To me it looks like a fair compromise to simulate longer guns being unwieldy in a 2D game
If it hasn't been pointed out, there's more class 6 armor than just Kibba now. There's a new faction called the "Watchers" which have "??? Armor" which is also class 6 now. I believe they'll first appear on mall in this update, and then to my knowledge will spawn elsewhere afterwards, with their new class 6 armor.
I really don't like the effective range rework. Everything else in the patch notes were good, but that one looks very annoying. I would've tied range to ergonomics Low ergonomic weapons like rifles would move the crosshair slower and and have spread adjust based on that. "Disappearing" bullets in this range the game has is just annoying for me. I'll probably skip this update until this gets balanced or removed. Mining and luring an area around a ghoul den or boars will be a lot of fun. Grenades are also a very fun addition.
Military and Crimson Corp Cyclops suits are both class 6 armors. Those are the only new ones, so they do have class 6, just to clarify. Possibly a ghost patch? Idk, they're both showing as class 6 in my game.
Love the armor and grenades but the gunplay changes.... I mean it makes no sense to me that weapons would do less damage in close range..... Damage fall of att greater distances sure but idk if i like it the way it seems to be implemented =( i think the gunplay felt good the way it is My main problem is the weapon progression its easy getting a good gun early and then you dont need any other guns so that should be adressed but these gun changes u show of here i think is a sstepå in the wrong direction. Anyways love your content keep upp the awesome work
I just got done watching their live stream on Twitch. I'm still holding off on my own playing of this till it progresses more. Love to see what they are continuing to tweak.
Dude you should def play some right now. Get a feel, it's a pretty complete experience already, quests, feel etc are all spot on. Itch def gets scratched. there's plenty to sink your teeth in cause half your gameplay doesn't matter cause you ded bro.
Nope. Crits aren't a thing in the game yet. Red fill means armour penetrated, half damage to body. Red outline means blocked by armour, no damage to body
excited but also a bit anxious with the new gun range mechanic, the AR range is a bit too short for my liking Grenade seems fun, but they need to implement warning UI to tell if grenade is nearby something like ticking red ball should be enough AND definitely need to change/ update the flashbang effect a giant white screen is not an enjoyable gaming experience and with it being sudden, it can induce actual temporary blindness ( which i had when i was young) imo the flashback effect would be 1) removal of the aiming cursor , 2) ringing sound is fine, and 3) blurr effect or white shading on screen For Honor's game effect from being stunned is a good benchmark for it, since they also change it to not induce vertigo
@@UniquelyAwful it's not always about immersion. the point of flashbang is to dissuade attacking(to retreat or defensive) or reduce the enemy into mindless shooting. This effect can be realized through other means. Painting the whole screen blank white feels like a stopgap measure from the dev.
@@J_just_J_yesthis is how a flashbang is rEaLliZed in nearly every other game. With a FLASH + BANG. Idk why you want the world to contort around yourself specifically
@@UniquelyAwful uhh okay? if you play enough games you will realize not every flashbang is just a plain blank white screen. sensitivity and dislike for a screen of whiteness is very common. hence dark mode. are you so insipid you can't even understand that? if anything you insisting on flashbang effect to be plain white screen with no opacity that just screams "placeholder" is the egocentric one
@@UniquelyAwful and having different opinion is completely fine. it is natural to do so, and discussing and arguing about it is normal. but getting butthurt and start attacking the person? frankly you are just embarrassing yourself
Quit crying about gun changes. just cause you can't put a scope on your skop and pick enemies from a mile away with stealth and sniper class I love the changes. it gives the game more strategy gives use to guns like submachine guns. Once you get a good gun, you really never have to use a different gun, and the game becomes straightforward no reason to use a different gun. Hopefully this changes that
🚨They put out a hotfix! The cyclops armors are now class 6 🚨
This patch will go live for you guys on the 7th! 😀
lets hope next be a food and craftable attachment update
At what time is the update live

Great video! The new mechanics look to add a bunch of strategy to the game. Also, the class 5 helmets look kinda like clone troopers. :)
They do! lol

Hmmm these gun changes feel bad, that's not how bullets work.
so cool that now we have more reason to use different weapons for different scenarios now :0

One step closer to rotary grenade launchers!

It wasn't like that when I made this video. They put out a small patch afterwards with the changes. That kind of annoyed me 😅

they showed as class 5 in my early access build. they definitely hotfixed it
"Kaboom?" "Yes Mikey, kaboom"
Stoked for these changes, it's exactly the kind of update I've been waiting on to get back into ZS. Excited for more videos from you on it!
Thanks! 😁

Thanks! I have a feeling they'll tweak it in the days/weeks after the patch cause it's a pretty big change
I think this balance change is a very risky move, realistically it’s going to be difficult for them to balance these things out.
Woo! New patch! Stoked to start a new run on the 7th.
YEAH BAAAAAAAAAAABY!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR

There Are Grenades but, there's no Molotov Cocktail🗿
Maybe someday 😓

Wooooooooooooooooo
God i cant wait to try em out
I like the nades and the new helmet designs but I hope the new gun "Ranges" dont distroy scav runs with pistols on hardcore...
Damn, more I see of this game, the more I want to buy it!
It's really coming along! We're almost half way to 1.0 😅
What we've all been waiting for! When are they going to add the Big Boy from Fallout so you can wipe out the entire map in one go? 😅 Great video OM!
Lol thanks buddy! 💙
I wonder how shotgun and RPK-16 work in this new gun mechanic?
I really wanna know what the cyclops green army was using for a gun.
Didn't Like the guns changes either!
The rest seems fun 😊

The gun changes seem kinda bad, if they're gonna do this then they better zoom the camera out
I just hope the grenades don't turn this game into Stalker Clear Sky...
Do we know if theres a wipe with this patch? Thanks :)
I'm pretty sure no wipe!
