  • Migrating data into or out of Salesforce can be difficult. In this talk I present a pattern for successfully planning and executing a data migration between two Salesforce orgs while avoiding some of the pitfalls and gotchas that catch out the unwary.
Martin Gardner discusses the four key features of a data migration project and gives a demonstration of these concepts applied to a migration between two Salesforce orgs.

To insert audit fields you have to give the data migration user a permission set with 'Create Audit Fields' enabled. You can only set audit fields on INSERT operations so your pipeline then has to use INSERT and UPDATE separately rather than the composite UPSERT operation. Subsequent updates to the records will change the values in the last modified audit fields.
