i want multiplayer, because fighting AI gets boring. they just keep getting to predictable
Nice! Finally a game about the seven years war! We need more of thoses.
Agreed!
There's a game called The Seven Years War (1756-1763) on Steam. It's from the same developers as Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865). It's a fun game, if a bit rough around the edges.
Does total war empire ring a bell?
From the ashes of F&M comes this game, a game that holds much potential and the backing of experience made by mistakes of the old
That's what we're aiming for Duncanlai!
The fact that the option of "Upgrading existing units instead of just replacing them" is so very rare in strategy games baffles me. It makes no sense as to why, it creates such a history with the units you have, glad to see it somewhere.
Granted the whole concept is great, but this option is something I've been wanting more of for a while so I'll focus on it for now.
no way...
keeping a company you've taken an interest in to see it grow and change through battles?
i gotta buy this game
We definitely want players to feel really attached to the army they've been campaigning with, not just having disposable armies.
Ultimate general: civil war did a great job of this. It looks like they are somewhat modeling their game after this (in some ways), which I am excited about as Ultimate General: Civil War is quite old and has some very annoying bugs, and sometimes the gameplay just doesn’t make sense.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046I think guys like Offically Devin made me realize that some units are indeed expendable.
That being said a part of that I think is that we rarely get named units in your usual strategy games, and even if we do, they’re elite units. You don’t get a chance to get attached to them because they’re a generic battle unit.
It is really cool to see that you guys are coming out with a new game. But it is sad to see that Fire and manoeuvre (your first RTS game) is going to become abandoned wear.
It was first game after all, Man gonna learn on his mistakes so this game probably gonna be better
It's really a shame. I dedicated 2-3 years of my life working on that game and made so many mistakes, I learned a lot. Unfortunately, releasing Fire & Maneuver as a free-to-play title meant that we didn't earn any profit on the project. Becuase of that, there was nothing to fund development to actually work on the game further.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Learning from projects (success and failure both) and striving to do a little better next time is all that should be asked of you. Very few if any first projects work out fully as intended. Frederick himself didn't start off all that great a general as Mollwitz proved, but he got there and a similar story can happen with game design.
@@theramblingexile2498 👍
Awesome! Cant wait! Regiment upgrade system looks so cool!
👍
Looking forward to this. Lots of good ideas here.
👍
Honestly because of F&M it's going to take a successful and complete launch to sway me over
I actually really loved that game, and if the final bugs were smoothed out you might even be able to do some kind of grand relaunch. I think even with the bugs if it had modding support it could have lived a decently long period.
Makes complete sense, I hope we can prove it to you when this game releases! F&M unfortunately can't be worked on any further, we had no funds (by virtue of it being free-to-play) and some of the people who worked on it no longer are part of the team.
Looking forward to this game hopefully it will be lots of fun
👍
Well this is going to be another big Bang!
👍
Looks good reminds me of ultimate general civil war for some reason
Defintely a source of inspiration in some ways!
Immediately keeping an eye on this one. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
This is such an interesting concept I love it
Wow it really look promising ! Will buy for sure ! Keep on with the incredible work !
Glad you went with total war style real time battles over F&M turn based ones, I think it'll make the gameplay more exiting.
Just happy there will be a game about the 7 years war, its such a underrated conflict.
Sounds really exciting! Already in my wishlist.
I love the sound and the look and the setting of this game there aren’t a lot of really good history games like this I cannot wait to play this game
Hmmmm this looks like it's gonna have a magnificent replayability value. I'm super hype for this game!
That's the goal! :)
Seems promising!
👍
This sounds awesome!
glad you made it real time. big thanks
👍
WOW! This looks so promising. A genre of itself! Grand Strategy, RTS, 4x elements, upgrades and customization. And all off that in a 7-years-war era! Really can't wait. Also, consider console commands with the achievements off so we can experiment and try different things. Thank you A.H. !
I know this is like half of my dream strategy game
Glad you're excited! I don't want to set your expectations too high though- I wouldn't necessarily classify this game as "Grand Strategy" on the level of a Paradox or Total War-style game. A big part of this project is keeping the scope reasonable and making sure the game is focused and polished.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 I can't describe how happy just the first reveal made me. I've had an idea for an "ideal strategy game" in my head for quite some time now, and this game delivered on at least half of it, which is still great! I am content with waiting as long as it's necessary, if not to play the game, at least to see it played and enjoyed.
Fire & Maneuver: RIP 😔
I am so hyped for this!
👍
Very interesting concept for a game! If this is successful enough, do you plan to add more regions in the future (maybe Hannover, North America, or India) with their respective nations?
It honestly isn't hard adding factions, but I really want to be careful expanding the scope too much. If the game goes well, and we have the time to do it, then I'd like to.
I am so ready for this game
👍
Total war Empires : Historically accurate gamer edition
A very promising game and above all you are going 3d now!
This is great, not too much media taking place during the 30 years war
this looks like a solid project. I would recomand you to take a look at the 7 years war - video series made by House of History. One of best series depicting the conflict of Frederick the Great. Also his maps are nice made.
House of History is great, I've spoken with him about this project. His series is awesome.
What Empire Total War should have been. If you can guys make it work, I'd be very impressed!! Good luck!!!
👍
It looks like after release we will possibly get a france faction and more regions like hannover in a dlc. anyway ROUGELIKE STRATEGY sounds awesome...
I really look forward to this game as a major historical total war fan. I quite enjoyed F&M and still do campaigns ageist my friend and would love to see that in a real time game like this but even if you are ageist multiplayer I am still very excited for this game
👍
As long as you don’t sway too much to empire total war this game will be fire
I am really hyped for this project and I hope it goes great even better than Fire and Maneuver. Please don't release it or update it with bugs as maybe that was the problem of Fire and Maneuver. Good luck team!
That's the plan, going to take things steadily and keep the scope smaller!
with the commanders, units and such it kinda reminds me of ultimate general civil war
Definitely similar!
Never forget FM
👍
I just really hope you get the difficulty right, the problem of a game being difficult on the start and easy at the end is so real but it should also not feel blatantly unfair
Great point Pioneer, that's something that we're taking really seriously. We want to get that right.
so epic
👍
i liked fire and maniever so i am excited for this one
So Fire and Maneuver is dead. Hope this project works out better as I do love the art style and anything RTS to challenge Total War is welcome at this point.
Unfortunately so. The free-to-play model didn't allow us to work on the game long enough for it to come out the way we had envisioned it. 1% of players spent money on the game, so it just made development incredibly strained and we ultimately had to move on...
Looks great! But I'd like to feel like I'm managing a country, not just fighting battles. I wanna have a population mechanic, production of weapons and everything needed, resources and trade, diplomacy and technology.
Hey Rob! Unfortunately, it's not going to be that type of game. All of those things sound really exciting: being able to fight battles, AND have populations, production, resources, trade, diplomacy, technology, nation management, etc. But each one of those features you add really expands the scope out. As a small indie team, we're really trying to keep our scope focused for this project and create something really polished. If we try and add all that in, we're going to end up looking at a game that promises a lot but fails to deliver. What you described though is definitely an aspiration of ours for a future project :)
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Thanks for replying!
Yeah, I totally get it! It's just I've been a strategy player for like 23 years and I always wanted a "perfect" strategy game, you know? But there was none so far and I guess there will never be :( I wish I could a part of a development team and share my vision, but I'm just a doctor.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see your game and I hope it'll be a success which would promote future games!
Are you thinking of adding other countries from the 7 years war (like France and Britain) or will you just stick with the ones mentioned in the video?
Right now I really want to keep the scope tight and not take on too much. If we have the extra time before release, then we can look into adding more. Alternatively, if the game does well, we can add some DLC or free updates.
Ok, thanks for the response
wow looks fun
👍
So is every troop model on the field a single troop or do they models represent several men like in other rts games like ultimate general civil war or grant tactician? Just wondering because it would be cool and unique if every model was a specific man.
I think your well on your way to make a strategy game that’s actually fun.
Agreed!
Real Rise of Prussia vibes
This might be a bit too early in development to ask, but will this game support modding? (modded scenarios, units, etc)
Right now I think we'd be biting off more than we can chew by taking on mod support on top of everything else. We'll keep you posted though!
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Alright, thank you for the quick response and I wish you good luck in your endeavour!
Damn you guys outdid yourselves, any hint regarding the release date? Cant wait to play
Probably winter or next year if the first gameplay showcase will be released in the summer
Likely end of the year, or early Summer. And Krum (the other commenter in this thread) is right about a gameplay reveal this Summer.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Please do take your time to make sure the game comes out as good as it can be! There are no second launches!
PS: As a f2p my heart sank when I heard that the game would probably be 20-30$. Will the game be on sale for holidays or other events?
@@krum1703 We will definitely run sales that'll make it more affordable!
I know its an early design, but I think moving soldiers closer together in the file would be beneficial and give a more complete "historical" look. Think of Ultimate General Civil War.
Yeah what you've seen is just an early preview. We're actually going to let players control their spacing between a rigid line formation and open order formation.
Is it going to be on Apple?
Seems like an interesting idea i would love to play an austrian playtrougth
Totally possible in this game!
How much will it cost? Just checking if I can support my favorite creator!
Nothing confirmed yet, but we're currently thinking between the $20-30 USD range. Definitely will be included in sales though!
what will the price be?
Imagine it was ww2 game. How cool will it be
How much will Master of Command cost?
Wow. This looks quite a bit like F&M. It looks great.
!
Similar art style for sure, just a lot more fluid and a tighter scope to ensure it's polished!
will Hannover and british troops in hannover and france and be in the game and will officer models and musicians be in the game?
Hanover/Britain are on hold at the moment, although we may consider adding them if we have extra time left before release. Alternatively, they'll be included in some kind of DLC or free update post-launch.
I hope the Prussians are as effective here as they are in F&M. The 1870s Prussians are the best army for sure in F&M
I think that the customisation will be good enough so that you can max out the artillery in the game
Prussia will focus on quality over quantity, so they'll definitely be powerful but fewer in number!
Is it for phone?
Are you boing to add more content to fire and maneuver
Unfortunately, we had to suspend development for F&M. The free-to-play model just didn't pan out for us, and there was no way we could afford to continue working on it.
BARRY LYNDON watch it or I’ll demand satisfaction
sandbox campaign when?
I would honestly consider the campaign system we're making to be a bit of a sandbox. If you mean an "endless mode," that's something we've considered, but haven't decided on including just yet.
Total War like gameplay with rouge like mechanic? Sign me up!
👍
dont abandon this like fire and maneuver.
We've learned so much from mistakes on F&M; we're committed to making an excellent game.
Nice. I hope we can play as the Austrians and Russians as well
You will be able to!
Seems fun I real liked fire and muniver
👍
oh yes
👍
Please help me! There was a similar playstyle game, it was on facebook in the early times. You build a bace and army, the army drive on platoons and is there are so many cool missions and challenges, such as the Caspian war and missions with America and Europe too! If you know the game, notify me. :D
Grand job. Please port it to Mac :)
Im buying
👍
Love so many of these ideas! From the upgrade system (Sure to generate esprit de corps) to the customization. Will we be able to fight custom battles, where we are able to choose all our units, the enemy faction etc? And, would you ever consider adding some Irish regiments serving in these armies?
No Irish regiments or really any foreign volunteers are planned as of now. But there's nothing stopping you from giving green facings/flag to a regiment and nicknaming them "Irish Volunteers."
Custom battle mode will be in if we have enough time, still figuring that out currently.
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Awesome. A little bit of imagination won't go astray! Keep up the great work!
Will the game allow for creative thinking with strategies and tactics? And can you use any kind of tactics that you want to in battle?@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046

would this be free!?
I played something called blitzkrieg 2 where the map had those arrows and changing map and these missions where you feel like you’re denying the enemy something for a later battle, such as taking a tank depot so they have less tanks in another battle but sacrificing time so they have reinforcements.
Will this game have something similar?
It's funny you mention that because we had a conversation about players encountering supply convoys or depots along the campaign trail while they're headed toward the main HQ, and how knocking out one of those convoys/depots could affect the main enemy force.
Is it free
Wait F&M is dead?
We had to cut support for F&M. It was a free-to-play title and couldn't generate any revenue for us. This meant we just didn't have any of the funds/resources that we needed to continue development. It was a giant passion project of mine, but unfortunately it wasn't possible to continue.
First like first comment
Question,will there be a navy
Since it's focused on 7 years war Prussia, Austria and Russia probably not.@@Cosmo-hw1cd
You sure this isn't a total war clone?
this sounds really unique and refreshing, just the execution will be questionable.
Sticking the landing is the hardest part! We're going in with a much tighter scope, and this project has been moving along far smoother than the early development days of F&M...
Question, if the game booms (succeed, something I have faith on) will you plan to cover other fronts or unsurmountable scenarios? perhaps in the future you could cover the independence wars in South America as a spin off (maybe in 6 or 7 years)
It's tough to say what we'd cover next, but I'd love to make more "Master of Command" style games in the future if people like it!
do we have siege battles ?
No siege battles, unfortunately. We are trying to keep the scope/scale of the game really focused and don't want to bite off more than we can chew. So expect polished land battles, but no siege battles!
Also ome suggestion, instead of the player having to reach the enemy camp it would be more realistic if the enemy camp and its commanders can split up/move around recaptirng settlements that they lost, it would be more of a dynamic challenge and would add more flavor than just having to progress like an angry birds level
We are actually having it so players can encounter smaller enemy forces on the campaign map, but the main enemy HQ is just so that the player has a set goal and can't just wander around the map forever.
Q errar Q bush
No France? Well I shan’t be buying this
I wish I could play this game but RTS just is not my play style of choice…I am sure you will have a great response from RTS fans, but unfortunately, it is not for me..
No problem- I will say though that we let players pause or actually play on slow-motion so you can really take your time to plan things out in battle. You might just like it!
@@armchairhistoryinteractive2046 Thanks for the reply. If there is a demo, I will definitely give it a try.
I've been following your work for quite some time now. If possible, please reconsider making the game realistic instead of stylized graphics, like your videos for example. I believe many people will check out your game because of your channel and your previous work (me) and you already have experience with stylized graphics. It's just an opinion, but these graphics how it is seems quite good.
Love your work and best of luck to you!!
We're going to take on a style reminiscent to our CZcams videos, using a lot of the same artists who work on our team. This means we're going for a more stylized approach, but it's not going to be overly cartoony.
