      @@CB-rv2lj I’m not arguing Paul is probably the best of all time. I’m just saying 10x better then everyone is a little excessive because the gap is not that wide. Thankfully you didn’t put your life on the line this weekend, you make that comment then Paul puts up one of the worst rounds he’s ever had and Ricky comes back on fire for 2 rounds to win his 5th straight Texas State Championship on one of the hardest courses on tour.

    I feel like DGLO -18 under was greater than WACO -18 because of the softer par at WACO at the time

    @R.M. Disc Golf. Paul is a class player. He doesn't lash out and keeps his cool in the heat of the moment. He gets in his own head sometimes but that goes for every single athlete in any sport yet he still shows class. His biggest "outburst" or show of emotion is him making a disc look like a taco shell. That is why he is my favorite.

    Excellent video, brother. I can tell we love this pro circuit similarly. My only critique, is that with McBeast, there is so much more. I appreciate that you include his losses, but consider all his blowouts as well. He used to just wreck the field. For so many years. Dude is a special breed of athlete.

    Lmfao bro no shot!!! The best round he ever shot was the toboggan in Michigan. He shot an -18 down! Ive played that course 4 times for USADGC and the GLO and its seriously a BEAST. I couldnt imagine shooting a -18 down with the longer layout. thats hands down his best round. Your hiking up and down tobaggans the entire time aswell so its one of the most physical demanding courses in the USA i bet

    As great as Paul is, Climo still has more accolades to his disc golf career. Climo is the Michael Jordan of disc golf.

  • @DarttheLegend
    @DarttheLegend Před 2 lety +3

    I know you're a little newer to disc golf but I do want to mention Ken Climo used to go 18 under fairly regularly in the 90s, long before disc golf was on camera and before Udisc existed. He was doing that with "par 3 everything" no matter how long the hole is, and with the speed 6 Viper as the highest speed disc available. I'm not here to criticize, only provide the info from a first-hand account growing up watching Climo. There was a whole tier of guys below Climo constantly battling for second place that were every bit as good as today's top pros, again, with speed 6 as the highest available speed discs. McBeth is a really fantastic player and I think there's a solid argument between second-best of all time between him and Barry Shultz, but Ken Climo is the GOAT. I hope you don't take this as an argumentative tone, it isn't meant that way. Great video!

    • @jeffnorvell967
      @jeffnorvell967 Před 2 lety +11

      Disagree. The courses today are 10x as hard as they were when climo was running the game. And the pool of compeition was MUCH, MUCH smaller. I understand that people who watched Climo's dominance first hand will almost always disagree, but statictis and math do not lie. If you brought Kenny in his prime to compete at 2022 Waco, he wouldn't even cash.

    • @DarttheLegend
      @DarttheLegend Před 2 lety +1

      @@jeffnorvell967 I know why your perspective is colored as such but I cannot agree especially with the severe exaggeration of the first statement. And then also the point I already addressed about competition, yes the TOTAL field was smaller, but top 35 was just as strong as it is now, there simply isn’t anyone as dominant as Climo was, and there never will be. Ask Matty O and Big Jerm who play with McBeth regularly, they agree with me. It’s possible to give McBeth the credit he is due while also giving Climo the credit he is due.

    • @christianswanger123
      @christianswanger123 Před 2 lety +5

      @@DarttheLegend anyone who's ever followed sports knows that the competition gets stiffer as time goes on. The fact of the matter is that there's no real point in these kind of arguments. The players and technology are better now than when climo was playing so you could never actually know.

    • @DarttheLegend
      @DarttheLegend Před 2 lety +1

      @@christianswanger123 I don’t agree that the players are better, but obviously the technology certainly is, that’s actually the crux of my side of the debate.

    • @keithmiller9369
      @keithmiller9369 Před 2 lety +4

      @@DarttheLegend The players are better. Its just a fact. Sorry... Not that that really takes anything away from what ya boi Climo accomplished. We can only play against the competition we have at any given time. That being said, if you think the overall talent, practice regimens, and ability pool hasn't changed since then, you are crazy. Sure technology has improved discs and that is "out of his hands (kek)" but it has also allowed players to watch every detail of his throws, and everyone else's since then. In slow motion and adapt the best qualities while removing the bad. Their skill level is as high as it has ever been.
