I got off work less than an hour ago and this was the last song I heard on the radio at work. Strange to see this on my notifications as I get home. This wasnt a huge hit when it came out, and I dont even think it was the biggest hit for The Cult (underrated band). That said, part of the opening guitar riff was used for one of those MTV shows that was daily and focused on hard rock/heavy metal. There was a time when it was much more recognized for that fact than for a previous "chart topping uber-hit" status. Hard to believe that this is the second time Ive listened to this song in an hours time, randomly, this many decades later.

It reached number 2 in the US billboard charts and along with She Sells Sanctuary it's one of their most popular songs. It's recieved regular radio play on classic rock stations over the last 30 years and when it was released had a video that played regularly on MTV. I'm not sure where you're getting the notion that it wasn't a big hit for them.

In fact, while it has always been my favorite song by The Cult, most of my friends preferred She Sells Sanctuary and THAT is the song I would have guessed was their bigger hit because of that and because I hear that on the radio/in culture more often than Fire Woman.

Most of BSSG and the airwing were in dorms regardless of rank, but grunts, the batteries, AmTracks, Recon, even e4s were in the barracks. Hell, Recon had a set of stocks they'd spend a night or two in rather than take NJP and an entry to their page 11. The Cult's album "Electric" is one of the best rock albums ever. Check out "Wildflower," or "Love Removal Machine." But the entire album can be thrown on at a party and listened to from beginning to end. I call it, "music you can kick some dude's ass to who's trying to talk to your girl." Other people say it's the best AC/DC album they never wrote.

Just a great rock song. I have a distinct memory of fishing out in a boat on a quiet lake with my grandpa. I was a very young teen, mayvbe even 12, and grandpa was pretty buttoned up and religious. This song was playing at a party on the lakeshore. It was the only sound we could hear out in the silence of the boat on the still lake. It felt like badness was creeping in, and I LOVED it. It was awkward and awesome. It was a moment whose overwhelming joy was signaling how my later teen years would go. Not at all how grandpa would approve. LOL, that was fun to listen to.

The inner workings of Lex's brain at first appears to be a circus randomness but upon closer inspection it is full of spot-on comparisons and metaphors for how she relates to the music she hears. Everytime she starts describing something I'm like "wtf?" and then once she finishes I'm like "...that was perfect."

The Cult has so many songs to check out. Here are a few Edie, Rain, Revolution, Wild Hearted Son, Wildflower and Sun King. Ian Asturbury, lead singer was inspired when living in Canada by First Nations culture which inspired some of the lyrics to their songs like Rain and Wild Hearted Son.

They have so many great songs. Wild Hearted Son you would like. The Native American dance at the begining of the video is just awesome. The singer Ian's look and how he sings is part of the entertainment. He puts alot of himself into his songs. Think Captain Jack Sparrow meets hippy glam as most of his look. Would love to hear what Lex comes up with if she sees it.

They don't necessarily look alike, but he was wearing a fur hat and I was like..."Did the Aerosmith singer start a new band?" đŸ€·â€â™‚ïžđŸ€Šâ€â™‚ïžđŸ˜‚
