I love when people are completely obsessed and passionate about their craft.
@John Wick weird BBQ flex but okjk lol
@John Wick there is a really offensive joke about him making great bbq but i'm not telling it though

Mexican here. Total respect for those tortillas. Genius!
Faxx
I honestly didn't think good tortillas could be manufactured well by someone without some rolling r's in their name.....
@@duanehenicke6602he’s from El Paso Texas, literally was born next to the border! I’m from El Paso Texas, and there’s Mexican Americans here that can’t roll their Rs either
Damn a Nerd PitSmoker. All the math leads to a Perfect Barbeque.
Just becuz he wears glasses?

@@endeavour5316 Bruh. watch the video again.
I went to Lewis BBQ last year when I took a vacation to Charleston with my wife. I legitimately choked up when I had the brisket. It was the best brisket I've ever had and I've been bbqing for years.
This guy has a painting of him on the outside walls of one of the best BBQ places in Dallas. That's how you know he's a BBQ legend.
What’s the place called. I’m a Dallas native myself
@@christianmejia1122 it's called cattleack BBQ. It's near the Addison airport.
Dude use to work under Aaron Franklin when they first opened Franklins.
Don’t forget about his relationship w Esaul Ramos who opened up the great, 2M Smokehouse in San Antonio. 2M has a video on EATER and gives a shoutout to Juan Luis in it 😉
@@pgroup1126 man! been wanting to check that place out for a while now. Chicharon Mac and cheese?!
If every restaurateur was as dedicated to precision and perfection could you imagine the culinary possibilities. Kudos on the love you show your craft Mr. Lewis.
Honestly if more people just had the opportunity to do what they love and put their all in it the world would be such a different place.
If you haven't been to Lewis in Charleston, you are missing out. The food is truly next level. The brisket is outrageous.
Their Pineapple Express cocktail is so good
He is the real deal! Went to Charleston for vacation from Denver. Best bbq ever! I got home and went to his web site and sent packages of meat to my brothers 🎉
He worked as the pit master for La Barbercue in Austin in a trailer parking lot before their brick n mortar location opened up, and I’ll be honest his method was ON point, and food was amazing compared to the more recent location with different pitmaster.
I grew up in working in restaurants in Myrtle Beach, two hours to the north. This is one of the most labor intensive food service operations I've ever seen. Obsessive attention to detail. I'm impressed.
I was sold when this dude broke out the custom mill stone work. Honestly who does that.
I literally said WTF. That's next level dedication.
4 sure... hell yeah! Crazy dedication..mucho respect!!
Agree. No cares about giving away the"secret" either.
People like Mr. Lewis are National Treasures!! This what makes our country great. Rock on brother!
I know were Im going for my next vacation. 🤗💖 Peace
This man's a visionary
+1 he is hardcore
That oxtail plate!! Unbelievable~~ and the shot of those sandwiches MASTERPIECE!!

Has anyone noticed all the pit masters on CZcams all have made their own pits?
whoever did the food photography on this needs a raise, because you made those things look godlike. damn.
My son lives in Charleston, and he just texted me this week raving about Lewis BBQ. I watched the video. I'll go check it out, but so far I'm impressed. I like the fact that if a tool doesn't work for him, John simply modifies the tool until it performs the way he wants it to.
I’ve been there at least 25 times, it’s always perfect. Their green Chile corn pudding is amazing
This man is an artisan!! He seriously knows what he’s doing. The time attention to every detail is absolutely amazing.
Nothing more inspiring than seeing someone devote perfection to their craft. I would’ve never thought about smoking oxtail, but it’s definitely on my cooking bucket list
When my sister lived in South Carolina, I would always go to Lewis BBQ on every visit with her. I’m going to miss that place since she moved from SC earlier this year. 😭
HERE’s where the Michelin stars should be awarded. A full plate of utter deliciousness lovingly and thoughtfully prepared…I’ll take this every single day over a $200 plate that someone is assembling with tweezers
The last 2 minutes of this video is mouth-watering! And this guy has so much attention to detail it's amazing
dude, those sandwiches? thanks for some inspiration, I know what im smoking next... Oxtail!
100% smoking oxtail next weekend.
Great idea...me too, this weekend.

Finally an artisan who isn't arrogant/annoying as hell. Much respect John.
I like how he keeps everything clean.
Name of the place is Lewis Barbecue in Charleston, SC! Brisket is to die for!
Texas BBQ is the best and the whole world knows it now. This guy is bringing straight up Texas and Tejano cooking to NC. They are very lucky.
You can see the passion in this guy for what he does. Mad respect-! 🙌
This guy is a legit culinary genius.
I guess the best barbecue comes from an amazing amount of engineering knowledge.
So glad that I can say that I've been here. Best bbq I've ever had
This is Aaron Franklin old pit Master back in 2011, John Lewis is part of BBQ history and the craze that's still going, him and Franklin made brisket awesome
Absolutely love the Smoke Point series
We have been here three times. Every time we go it gets better and better and better. Hats off to the BEST bbq on the east coast.
I cant believe i just found John Lewis.... i been living under a stone in Norway. So sad i missed his masterclass when he was in Norway just recently. Love the Oxtail method
What an absolute flawless operation. This food is next level.
Wow. This man is a scientist, a food scientist.
This episide really accelerated for me when I saw the final product. All of it looked great but that beef and cheddar looked OUTSTANDING. Def 100% stealing that one. Nice work Chef Pitmaster Man Lewis!
I’ve been here at least 25 times, after fishing that was the place to go, grab a cold beer while waiting in line, go there for pastrami on thursdays or beef rib on Saturday, next level
I was there a week ago on Thursday.. Rueben special. Amazing, also the brisket was very good. Coleslaw amazing.. best I ever had ( need that recipe) Took pulled pork home for dinner. Yup I will go back again.
A staple here in Charleston, especially for brisket.
How long ago did he move out of Texas? He had LA BARBECUE in Austin.
I used to go to Melvins for bbq. When I went here this past summer, it blew my mind. Melvins is a thing of the past now
Best brisket I’ve ever had
@@masonloth5725 so good I got a vacuum sealed one last month and threw it in the freezer to open for Christmas. A little dry at the ends, but the flavor was still so good I didn’t even care
Its been like 3 months since I been there and Im still raving about Lewis BBQ
I respect this guy's enthousiasm and creativity. it shows that it doesn't have to be a fancy chef to love and work on your craft.
John is a Master at his craft. When you watch this video, you’ll get a glimpse into his world. When you go to his restaurant, you will undoubtedly love the complex flavors and perfectly smoked and roasted meats. Oh, the sides are every bit as good too!
Started in Austin. Left La Bqq to start his own spot in South Carolina. Was trained by a Mueller on how to smoke
He did them right with the way he picked up the craft and raised the bar.
I visited and got to take a tour of the pits. It was authentic Texas down to the chunk of cheddar with sausage
You have to love how CZcams is the closest thing to a time machine we have..

Kudos to you sir.
Wow I love the guys passion for his craft. All the stuff he makes looks amazing.
Oh man, that beef and cheese sandwich looks unbelievable
I'm exhausted...and SO hungry, after watching this. Holy buckets! The man is more than a little obsessed. Hooray for us!
I'm really impressed. The food makes me hungry just looking at it. I 'm an old foodie but the preparation of these meats strike me as something different and unique.
This was the best BBQ I've ever had so far.
Love this man attention to details!
That freaking dedication thou. Hats off.
it is simply unreal how much work goes into that perfect bite. This really has to be a passion as opposed to a job.
OMG!!!!!! This man is doing great things and I’m sad I’m so far away! Beautiful BBQ sir!
This is quite possibly the best BBQ I've seen.
I know it’s mine. Hands down. Better than even Rodney’s I dare say. Sorry Rodney. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Oh my god I went here on my honeymoon and the food was so delicious (aswell as many other places in the Charleston area) but this one was so good that I had to go back before I got on the plane
god how i miss having lunch at bbq joint chewing smoked brisket & ribs!
This guy is a boss! What great dedication to awesome food!
I was so ready to mind bash his brisket process and then I seen the finished product and my mouth started watering.
The care this man has for his tradition and product
This man is a genius.
This guy is OCD in all the right ways.

My favorite restaurant in Charleston SC. Ridiculously good. Always plan on spending at least $50 and I’m always ready for a nap later.
From New Mexico! Love BBQ and Green Chili fusion!
as a Mexican, I have to tell that we don't use double tortilla in case one breaks, we use double tortillas so you can make a double taco out of one. greetings, everything looked delicious.
This guys a flipping GENIUS!
This guy has the passion! Awesome seeing this and the food looks delicious. Now I’m hungry 😞
A true master of his craft!
Place is absolutely phenomenal !!
A real master of his craft🔥🔥🤠💪
I cannot stress enough how lucky I am to live in this city and eat this once a month
Keep rubbin it in friend...lol
This guy is an Eagle Scout from my Boy Scout Troop. Troop 4. That's pretty cool.
Yes! Green chili in everything! There's nothing better than the smell of roasting green chili!
That looks so amazing!
Are you kidding me with the food he’s turning out wow gotta make this trip to see it in person!!
The marbling and color on some of that raw meat, very fresh and hi quality!! Luvin it
Celebrating Michelin star chefs is fine, but this guy and others need the same recognition, there food is touching more people than Michelin chefs and the work and ethos behind their food together with their passion is world class.
Had the chance to go there an I must say it was the best bbq I've had by far everything was excellent.
Only the luckiest get to smell fresh hatch green Chile when it’s Chile season. Love NM
Amazing love from El Paso Tx 915r for life
The cows are thinking, at least he did us right.
That's exactly how they want their tails chopped, bbq'ed and served. xD
Lol
Repping that East Austin Shirt..Love it!
LOVE YOUR DEDICATION,AND INTEGRITY
Wow...you have to love what you do.
Place is 20 minutes from my house and it is SO GOOD. Arguably best bbq in Charleston. Hell… might be the best in South Carolina
I want a dozen of everything to go!!!!,....... And an iced tea with lemon only,... Thank You!!!
Beyond impressive. Wow.
great video!
amazing. no words.
I do love the fact that the pitmasters name is John Lewis while his Barbecue place is named Juan Luis 😂
I didn't even clock that until now, absolute legend 😂
The bbq spot is called Lewis Barbecue - Juan Luis is his Mexican food trailer.
Juan Luis= John Lewis = Jean Lui.
@@freetheworld2671 Don't worry I got the reference! Funfact is that my dad is named Jean-Louis which would more or less be the french equivalent 😁

As an Agricultural Engineer Major in Processing and a barbeque lover, this video hit all the right spots. I'm not sure which I like more, the food he produces or the equipment he's using!
I NEED to drive a few hours from Va and come try this.
This has reminded me to order a take out from my local BBQ, I'll do that this weekend.
Its the shirt for me! "East Austin" where i met him when he was running La Barbeque here in Austin
Man, that looks great! I would bet that you would be welcome in any state, with food like that!
love it - just wish I could try it..... right this minute!
