Anybody who's watching and thinking of this (the muffler delete) do yourself a favour and purchase resonated exhaust tips. Helps a bit for the raspy sound.
I think the muffler delete sounds better than the straight-pipe. Has a good balance to it.

If you put 18” mid mufflers with an x pipe the straight pipe will be tame but also loud

I think the Roush Axle back or the Borla Cat back are the 2 best exhaust setups for the V6 or the Ecoboost. Straight pipes only work for V8s in my opinion.
3.7 with x pipe and cat back sounds good
I don’t hate the sound of a V6 at all. I think an X pipe would suit the V6
On the recommendation of a Ford mechanic--the dealer's Mustang guy--I put on a Touring Borla cat-back. I wish it was a little louder. I put the Borla Stinger cat-back on my Silverado 5.3. I wish maybe I went a little quieter.

That muffler delete sounds a lot cleaner on take off in my opinion maybe removing that resonator might help even more?
Replace the resonator with an h-pipe
Idk, when i had my v6 i had shorties and an h pipe. After that your choice on the muffler, you need to get rid of the rasp on these.

Only thing I dislike about faster fords is the Low revving. My Lincoln picks up speed quick but both it and my fusion have such a short 1st and 2nd but a massively long 3rd it makes it hard to get up and go from a dead stop

@@nash1286 get some 18” knock off magnaflow mid mufflers from Amazon, and get a generic x pipe with bbk headers and BOOM. That straight pipe will be amazing and not shitty

Then that’s not straight pipes. If it’s an X-Pipe and resonated tips, that literally is not straight piped
@@itsdillon04 I do exhausts for a living.. A straight pipe is defined: Muffler and resonator delete, A x-pipe is like a additive for sound and so is the resonated tips, Resonated tips are still straight through still making them straight pipes...
Look here sawzall. I apologize, you’re clearly a master at cutting off exhausts and welding pipe on. Look man, I’m not knocking what you do, but me being in a performance shop and having a solid ground of high horsepower cars coming from it where everyone agrees, straight pipe is nothing but pipe from the exhaust manifold back with tips, makes me have to disagree.
@@itsdillon04 Everyone calls them different names, But the correct term(s) is a straight pipe (muffler/Resonator) delete. And so on and so forth. A (Full) Straightpipe would be from the manifold and or (Header) back. Thanks for your time.

My 2012 Ford Mustang 3.7 V6 looks like it has an x-pipe in place of the resonator, and a muffler delete. To me it sounds like a muffled V8, my step dad thinks it sounds like a V8. I bought it about two weeks ago, gotta get under it to look at some stuff

Mustangs are different. You can get those exact mods on any other V6 and the Mustang brings out the most punch.

The V6 stangs sound good with these custom exhausts setups. Sounds real close to a V8, IMO.

I used to have a 6.1 hemi 8 cylinder Challenger srt8. When I tell you the 3.7 mustang is good it’s fucking good perfect balance of fun and power you can build so much on it and they big motors with great trannys like come on y’all 8 cylinder heads just waste gas and have a little more hp stock😂
Let us know when that divorced setup goes shorty headers, the shorties almost give the engine a bit of a snarl to the sound compared to the stock manifolds.

They both sound weird 5/10 on both but if they get bbk shorty or long tube with stock cats or after market cats with and off rev limiter or with gt500 mufflers added then we talking
@Wavy FORVR I just listened it sounds amazing but I don’t see the hate though like ecoboost no offense shouldn’t even been in the mustang line.
Keeping the resonator sounds much better. Has a better bellowing sound, isn't too much crackling, and you can drive it as a daily driver. Note, I’m not a V6 hater. I would say the same thing to someone with the V8.
The question is: how much does it cost to delete the muffler and is it legal?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe straight pipe is referring to deleting the cats, resonator, and muffler all as one, and muffler delete is referring to the removal of the muffler only. If I'm getting something wrong or mixed up, feel free to let me know. :)

@@mkviis Oof sorry, but I had a V6 and a V8 and the rasp of a V6 just ain’t it man. I went from a stock exhaust, to headers and y-pipe on my V6 and it sounded good, but the classic American V8 has a much better sound.
@@mkviis No. There's a reason V6 mustangs get bashed, especially when they straight pipe... There are a lot of V6 that may sound better to people than V8's but mustang V6's sound quite bad, especially straight piped
