    I went with the 93sv uhd with the gt54, I would have liked to have the gt56 transducer but $500 difference was just a bit too much for me. I know the 56 will give a little bit sharper image but I just couldn’t bring myself to fork over the extra 500. I’m upgrading from a striker with the 52 transducer so I think I’ll be happy with the echomap uhd with the 54. Thanks for the great videos, very informative and keep up the great work.

      You will be really happy with the GT54 over the 52, I’m struggling now that they dropped the LVS32 and black box down to $999 which is the better upgrade. Thanks for watching!!

      You will love the 54. I do. There ain't that much difference. There defintly is a difference. But not $500 different. I catch fish all day using my gt54

    I held out to buy the 93SV UHD with the GT-56 but never owner or used a GT-54. I do not know how much better mine is however, the GT-56 is great!
    I have the livescope too so I have a great setup. Great video Rick!

    He starts with saying that they are just the same but then list everything different with the two... so they aren't the same. Honestly having owned the latest and greats, and the older models... If fishing is that important to you then spend the money for what you want. 106 with gt56 or 93 with gt56. With livescope (plus model) but if your a weekend warrior the any model with a GT54 will do. I got a livescope fist cause I could rig something to fish piers and go ice fishing and kayak with it. The latest and greatest will always be a little bit better than the last gen. Not by much but enough. Even the 73s with a GT54 are fine if you can read side scan. Your electronics (any gear) are only as good as their users. Newer is nicer and it'll put you on fish but it still come down to the fisherman. Best of luck to you all.

    I just bought an Ultra 106sv with the GT54 and it's good, but I expected great. It's linked to an older (non UHD) 93sv PLUS model and frankly other than the 1" bigger screen, the image quality is only marginally better on the 106. Haven't changed any factory settings on the 106, but expected MUCH better from this Ultra. I'm more impressed with the older Plus unit!

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Před rokem

      The old UHD units are very good and the colors are more vibrant which for Livescope is great!! I found my Ultra 106 was much better for showing details of bottom structure but the big advantage for me personally was the networking flexibility and additional SD card slot for maps cards. As you pointed out it’s hard to beat the vibrant picture of a 9” UHD,

    Just getting around to your vids, Rick. Love the intros, especially this one. I’m still deciding whether the new UHD2 93sv (with GT56 of course) at $1200 is worth it over the now reduced UHD 93sv (with GT56) at $750. I like higher resolution, but it’s still a $450 difference.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Před rokem

      Hi Carl, the price difference between a GT54 and GT56 is almost $400. The GT56 and UHD2 resolution is better.
      Depends on a couple things. First, are you planning to expand? The WiFi network will likely be needed in the future for more than just the phone app which gives UHD2 a leg up and second how much do clear images and maximum reach depth and distance mean for you?

    • @TonyZeitgeist
      @TonyZeitgeist Před rokem +1

      @@DoubleTFishing Thanks for the response! I have a small boat, and this would be a standalone system that I'm starting, so expansion is not a big issue for me. I would say that resolution and clear images/best sonar performance are what matter most to me. I guess this sounds like I should get the UHD2 instead of the UHD. I have another dilemma, however. The Lowrance HDS-9 Live is also now reduced to $1000. Should I go for that instead of the 93sv UHD2 at $1200? Of course the UHD2 is newer, but the HDS is a higher tier (and even though older still has higher resolution than the UHD2). Note that I would expand to Livescope+ or Active Target 2, depending on whether I got the UHD2 or the HDS. Much appreciate your advice!

  • @thunderbunny4592
    @thunderbunny4592 Před 6 měsíci +1

    As a kayak fisherman to get the most clarity would you reccomend upgrading the transducer for a striker 7cv/7sv for the better downscan or stick with the gt20 it comes with? I fish ponds and laks but also spend a lot of time in the ocean. Depths up too 150

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I’m not as familiar with the striker series but I’m not sure upgrading the transducer would buy you much based on limited frequency and screen resolution. Google “garmin transducer selection guide” that should give you an idea of compatibility for upgrade transducers.

      I think you’ll be happy with Garmin, not done yet but the second and third videos in the beginners playlist on the active captain app and basic operation might help some. I have to admit I’m surprised hummingbird hasn’t come out with a rival livescope product yet? You saw the LVS32 bundle on sale for $999? Of course the latest LVS34 is $1700 and the “XR” version means extra range which most of us don’t need is well over 2K

    im thinking maybe go with Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv in the back. its $700 vs the $500 for the 7sv. and the guy is talking over my shoulder saying, go ahead and get another 106sv, only $300 more than the 93sv. lol . then on the other side hes saying but its twice the price as the 7sv. and im also going to make the 106 portable and use it on the front of my pontoon, that also needs a new unit in the dash, that maybe will only fit the 7sv. so im at a what to do, what to do moment, and have to act before they go off sale.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Před rokem

      I don’t have livescope but I would assume you can go into network preferences and setup the livescope transducer to view on both units. Might check out this video and get familiar with the network screen. The screen is not accessible until two units are networked together.

    • @DoubleTFishing
      @DoubleTFishing  Před rokem +1

      Like you I bought a new toy but in the form of a decent video camera. I think I’m going to wait and see what they come out with in 2023. It’s really windy here in the Texas panhandle so mounting it on the trolling motor isn’t an option and I hate the idea of another rod sticking out with a handle so I’m kinda waiting for someone to get a good system mounted like a power pole or something I don’t have to stow every time I go to move. To answer your question anything over $1000 I’d problably get the newest latest technology so it will stay supported for a longer period of time

  • @kennyd.2756
    @kennyd.2756 Před 8 měsíci +1

    it would be nice if i could hook the 2 on either boat together when fishing and see live scope on the back when needed and when its live up front they can still see lv on both screens, let the wife watch the fishing me and the boy are doing. dont know if a 7sv is going to give me all im wanting. the pinch screen it nice for zooming and stuff. both of the boats need the smaller sizes in the back but their may be a way around the limitations. ram swing arm mount is one ideal or the xl scotty ball mount. going to bass pro in a couple days and look again at the units sizes and connections.

      Unfortunately the 7” screen is not going to be as effective for seeing defined objects or fish separation from structure without using a zoom box. Even then there are less pixels. I suppose it depends on how you use it. I like to run combo screens and having a 9” or 10” makes it easier on my eyes
