I was sitting by myself at a table in a greasy spoon cafe in Santa Fe about 5 years ago. The place was very busy. I nice lady named Ali asked me if she could sit with me because there were no empty seats at the counter, and all tables were full. We had a very pleasant conversation while having breakfast. The best word I can use to describe this woman much older than me is “regal”. She didn’t speak much about herself but instead wanted to talk about my life.
While leaving the restaurant she asked me, out of the blue if I remembered a movie called “Love Story”. I thought “that’s weird thing to ask”… then I said “Ali? As in Ali MacGraw?”
She kissed me on my cheek and said “thank you for a wonderful breakfast” … walked away leaving me too stunned to yell back any thing better than “uhhh…UHHH…. DITTO!” Soon after I realized in my stunned state I was thinking about Demi Moore in “Ghost”.
Maybe Ali will read these words and remember our breakfast, and understand my reaction.

I always admired Ali McGraw as an actress with a unique image. There was no one like her before or since. She is this beautiful laid back brunette among thousands of blond types. Of course there were other brunette big names in Hollywood. But Ali had this personality that was more familiar and tangible with everyday people. I'm trying to make sense here. She seems so approachable.
Even as the photojournalist on Dynasty she came off as Jennifer Cavalieri Barrett and Brenda Patimkin, a girl you might meet in every day life.

I hope y’all will reply to this Ali MacGraw may like gray hair I hate it..I have some gray hairs and I’m gonna have my whole hair dyed dirty blond with red streaks…also I’d like to get Ali’s yoga tape
I'm 66 and sometimes struggle with not liking my gray hair. The only reason we don't like gray hair is that our culture has socialized us to believe that aging is ugly. Hating anything natural is self-destructive. We need to keep rethinking the ways we look at things.
You could go dirty blonde, but to look normal, you may want to avoid the red streaks. Besides, I quit coloring my gray years ago. The dyes are surprisingly toxic.

I’m 73 now with started letting my hair grow out to the gray when I was 50. My hair is a beautiful silver. I’ve never regretted it and I get compliments every time I go to the grocery store wouldn’t change my hair for anything.
If born in 1939 she is not 85. I was born in 1938 and am 85. Will beb86 in a few months.
