I STILL think that one of the BEST add on features that LL could do for Terrain, would be to make it so you can TUNNEL.

PBR is amazing! Hope they are also working on the new materials/texture that drape and act like real clothing. As in no more hair sticking thru your hoodies :)

    About time mirrors came

  • @Yetica91

If only there could be a way to make mesh flexible, same as flexi prim works. Imagine how dresses would change. All those stiff mesh gowns are terrible. Yes, beautiful, but no movement.

Second Life needs a modern day upgrade forsure that way it surpasses the other Metaverses that limit you and SL is the only Metaverse that you can create things and make real life money.

  • @Rairosu

Super excited for Mirrors, Sense we all know one place that had these and now we are getting them too. Its the first step. Also Having HQ Terrain instead of the old very low quality terrain that most new sims come standard with has to go. It bugs me when the terrains textures are like still from 2004. A new better default has to be added in.

As soon as Firestorm comes out of Beta PBR the grid as we know it will change. People will embrace and seek out PBR textured goods. As a content creator I've switched completely over to PBR and constantly run into people despite the warning of requiring a PBR enabled viewer in my marketplace ads, purchase items and then leave negative reviews without contacting me first to see what the issue is. "HI, I bought your and it's missing the textures, it's all white" is what I do hear when people contact me. I've since included a notecard about "missing textures" in all my products explaining the use of a PBR enabled viewer. Sure there are a myriad of problems in SL to fix, but as a creator this is a HUGE step forward and I'm grateful!

Literally one of the best updates, still hoping to see inventory on phone and objects chats, or hud usage but this is a insane future update!

  • @CRTVDex

The biggest feature here is PBR actually. It will make many things possible.

  • @Kustonius

While I'm thrilled this is coming to SL, I am also a bit worried that since SL to my knowledge is still limited to using a single CPU core, that it will just add to the fact SL easily becomes heavy to run especially with a lot of people around, and if the game has to suddenly render mirror images of people in front of those surfaces it will just make it that much heavier unless its limited to only showing your own avatar in which case there is little point to having it then.

  • @glospiwniczaka

I wish there was support for PBR displacement map.

    Progress!!!

  • @SSinisterXCI

in my opinion i think with 2k textures the spec/normals should be limited to the existing 1024, or it's going to get performance heavy real fast.

  • @cerodriz

Finally!! This is awesome. Also, I wonder why having mirrors is such a big deal, having mirrors is most likely to take a lot more resources and cause lag on SL. But mirrors in video games are very common, like, in The Sims 2 (2004) you had very beautiful fully functional mirrors and that game is over 20 years old now.

  • @matteste

Does this mean that you can also finally get a proper chromed look or proper shine with things such as gold?

    This is an awesome addition.

Let me change the terrain texture on my mainland parcel. Its beyond time

  • @enigmagenesis7341

I don't know how it happened (clearly something to do with specific graphic settings at thevtime) but the other day when sailing in world I had an accidental 'preview' of the mirror effect when the water appeared perfectly smooth and I was astpunded to see a perfect reflection of our boat. I even took a screenshot as evidence that it occurred. This was on Firestorm 3rd party viewer and lasted until I changed a graphic setting. I have not replicated it up to now, but it looked very much like the effect shown here in thr video.

  • @CrimFerret

This is all pretty cool. I'm old enough to remember when rendering just one static image with actual reflections too hours or even days. Fortunately I have a computer with a pretty good graphics card and can enjoy the new features. It does lower frame rate, but even so it's not enough to lessen the experience. That may well not be the case for those with older hardware. What may have been enough GPU before, may have trouble keeping up with this.
