I get up always early, at 5 am to start my day. I like it, because it's quiet and I can swim to the sunrise in the nearby ocean. I check email and get ready for meetings by 7am. My daily work is done by 9 am. The rest of day is free for me. It took me only my firm decision to live like this 30 years ago. It also took me to prioritize, plan ahead, organize, and stick to the plan. I love living each day. I have lots of emotional and spiritual room for other people. I spend most of my free time rendering my ears to the lost and confused. The most of these people need just listeners, not advisers. It's a great human-learning for me. I love it.

Wait until you have problems to get to the end of the month
Wasted time can be caused by so many things - bad food, bad air quality, and anything else that shortens out. People don’t care about this, yet it will cost them more in the long run.

I believe exercising creativity in any area of your life like writing, painting, photography, graphic design etc work or non-work gets the creative juices flowing in your brain. Since I have made that a habit I have felt my overall level of creativity innovation increase
The video was way too quiet and I really wanted to be able to hear her while I was cleaning because Ted talk inspires me to get things done while it's playing.

I can't like this video enough. These are all the things that I believe in and try to enact all the time in the organisation I work for but are constantly getting my hand slapped for and it's killing me. As a line manager, I constantly have to battle midlevel and upper level management even though most of the changes I have made or have suggested has been good for business, employees, and the organisation but the resistance is tremendous. My feeling is to want to leave but I know that change comes from within so I stay to be that voice for change and questioning and I'm not alone and that makes me hopeful.

Then again there's over-thinking. This is the biggest problem among many of the people I know. They just over-think everything...... they research it, make a spreadsheet about it, analyse it, discuss it, plan it, reassess it, discuss it again ..... and on and on they go. People don't rely on their gut instinct anymore. This is a result of the information age where instant information and advice on just about everything available to us. People feel the need to access this information before they begin to do anything. They forget that gut instinct is the most valuable tool we have. The solution as usual lies in balance. A mix of basic gut instinct along with some useful information (but not too much) is key. Thinking is good, but allowing thoughts to become your master is bad.

The Ontario Education Ministry needs to watch this Ted Talk...as well as my former Board of Education.
How about "courage is the key to change". The boss tells your boss what she wants done. Your boss tells you what the boss wants done. You don´t even know if your boss and her boss are in the same page, not to mention the board of directors, share holders, regulatory agencies etc. You must do as told. What else can you do? Challenge your boss? In cases like my example, change might come in the form of you becoming the boss by moving on and starting your own company, Is that simple. Lisa hints that simplification is a must for the top boss but one must think that the boss might need checks and balances to find out if the crew will do what she thinks needs to be done. Somewhere I read that Einstein once said.. "Make things as simple as they can be, but no any simpler than that". People mistake simple with brevity. A short answer is not a simple answer. I can go on for hours.. Great talk Dr. Bodell, sincerely.

the key is to make the meaningful mundane and vice versa, dont get sucked in this notion that activities in and of themselves are meaningful or mundane. it is precisely how we live them that makes them such experiences. all you need to do is stop romanticising the special things and start enjoying all moments of life, and alternate between them to create growth :)

Ways of fixing things :
Provocative questions that are into problem-solving, about getting out of comfort zone by questioning rules or habits, or instead about what the core is.
Ask people what rules they'd like removed in order to innovate. It's likely those are not rules at all.
Make sure everything is minimal and most simplistic possible.
Woow you read my mind... I don't fit with any of these boxed cultured, caged goals, black-n-white objectives, precise results or targets, geekish organizations with these crazy rules. I always like to explore while I pretend to fit with these complex robots.

I was told not to rock the boat many time , no chance of changes just followed everyone else pretending to send emails
I don’t understand why we can’t just be diverse in our management leadership skills, the objective, and time management, and the project dictates our value for how we handle and lead in that job, people need to understand those concepts, priorities should be company oriented with exploration of your own ideas and some risk, not everyone is a leader, not even eventually, lots of people need motivated, lots of direction, and sadly some even need babysat. So most leaders don’t need lectures, what we need is a continuation of holding each other accountable and helping each other, while understanding management and leaders have a unique drive, motivation not everyone is born with.
This is all fine unless your organization discourages employees from asking questions, challenging the status quo, or stepping outside their well-defined lanes. Then this stuff is just idealistic wishful thinking. You first have to foster a culture where these ideas are promoted and rewarded. Otherwise, you can be ostracized or worse for "making waves."
great talk but only if you love your career or are a corporate shill. if you care about your life first and everything else second, you would not have meetings and emails on your mind. life is finite. you will die either tomorrow or within the next few decades and life gets worse as you age as health declines. time is precious and so are you. not your job or the car you drive. but hey if you value that, that's you. i never ever did. i work so i can live, not live to work.
Simplicity and simple-minded people are totally different things. Yes, I agree with you time-rich is far more important than money-rich. What is the use of having much money but no time to embrace it. Having to have many meetings and answering email is a proof people are simple-minded and not proactive. I try to finish a business communication by one email. However, I notice the repliers have to send me at least two email to get what I am asking for. Because, they're preoccupied with the task of answering email, forgetting totally how to digest email message content. Clear and critical thinking is missing. People are just conditioned to press and miss all the points. They're creating modern day slavery by their lack of awareness and meaning for life. Stay away from them. That is my conclusive opinion.
One has to be delibrate and get out of autopilot.
