People just need to admit the 14 Pro (Max) is not a "Groundbreaking" update. It's really the same phone. I think the big shift was the 13 Pro. "48 mega pixel camera" That you can only use on the raw setting (misleading). Dynamic island really isn't that user friendly when it comes to touching and reaching it constantly. It's heavier than the 13's which were already heavy as is. Nobody really cares about the crash and satellite stuff (we hope to never need it honestly). It's just marketing and fancy gimmicks this year. Whew...but if you upgrade from older versions, ENJOY!
They’ve already addressed one of your concerns in the upcoming iOS 16.1 update. Reachability. You’ll be able to pull the screen down with an alternative pill coming down with it
Lol each year you can't expect ground breaking updates and flagships from every company is enough for 3 years .

U have a point here because the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 pro max are the same phone with just minor upgrades with the camera and processor and dynamic Island other than that is the same phone same screen same amount of RAM Same software I think the iPhone 15 will be groundbreaking this year in 2023
There’s been a lot of debate over the battery life between these two. I got the 14PM and I can tell I’m getting worse battery life than the 13PM but it’s a huge improvement over my previous S22 Ultra thankfully.
I wouldn’t say it’s worse battery life, I think this is all related to iOS 16 because 13 Pro Max tanked after iOS 16 download.

@@TheMickey0718 That might be true, but I feel like iOS 16 gave my iPhone 13 Pro Max a few bugs and feels a bit slower even though I still have 120 hertz obviously lol
Apple reduced the battery capacity on the iPhone 14 Pro Max from 4352 mAh of the iPhone 13 Pro Max to 4323 mAh and the iPhone 14 Pro Max has more power hungry hardware (brighter display, 48MP sensor which means alot more image processing and a more powerful more power hungry A16 Bionic processor.

Thanks for the comprehensive review! I think I want the new PM but it's sold out everywhere in my city for over a month so I've got plenty of time to think about it. I think the 13PM photos looked better than the 14PM to be honest! I assume than the 14PM is truer to life but I thought the comparison pictures made the 13PM ones look a bit more colourful and appealing to me.
*I also agree with the pill cutout being more distracting... I kinda wish it just stayed touching at the top and was a dynamic notch! would still be smaller than the regular notch and it could still multitask while still staying attached to the top of the phone and not being so low and distracting.

Do you have the phone? Because I have the phone and the Dynamic Island is way better than having a static notch at the top of the phone. Way more useful with animations and alerts. Love it.

I honestly prefer the 13PM, and considering the issues plaguing the new 14s I’d go for the 13PM.
Any issues you are seeing with the 14 are nothing but software. That’s including the camera shake with 3rd party apps. Unless your strapped for money, you should have went with the latest and greatest especially since you keep your phones for a while. I saw the S22 ultra beat the iPhone 13 Pro photos handedly. With the 14 Pro, iphone won! I need the best camera!

Great comparison Nick! For now, I would stick to my iPhone 13 PMax since it has minor changes from the 14 PMax. Yeah dynamic island is cool and all and the camera is slightly improved but for an average user, you wont really notice it, unless you want to flex that pill haha. If I were to decide, I would invest for the next iPhone next year😅

To be honest the differences in the taken photos weren't that big. Probably in low light situations you will see more differences. So I'm staying a bit longer with my 13 Pro Max. Let's see what Samsung and Apple will do next year. BTW I still love the Sierra Blue color. Thx for you honest comparison.

Hi Nick, I had an Iphone 13 pro max for 3 months and was thrilled. To be honest, I had to sell it due to financial reasons, but I will buy a used Iphone 13 pro max again for Christmas. I have already seen offers around 800 - 900 euros. In comparison, Iphone 13 pro max costs new1250 euros, the Iphone 14 pro max 1450 euros. I just do not see the added value of 200 euros or even 600 euros compared to a used Iphone 13 pro max. I still like the notch better than the new dynamic island. I think it is nothing more than a brilliant marketing move to turn something negative into something positive. Thanks a lot for this video! Cheers Peter
I went with the 13 Pro Max from the iPhone 12 after the 14 Far out event I wasn’t as impressed as I was with the iPhone 13 event I went with the Alpine Green because I absolutely loved that green especially more than the purple as well and it’s hands down the best phone I have ever owned and I got a pretty decent discount new from T-Mobile. I know it will be amazing for many years to come as this will be the phone I probably hold on to the longest.
Number one if you’re going to upgrade why not get the newest technology and I love the deep purple.
@@cherylbrantley4736 Because there isn’t anything crazy that I wanted that wasn’t put into the 13 Pro series the only thing I wanted was a 120 hz display. The Deep Purple is too dark for my taste and I also saved money and got basically the same phone. I also personally don’t like how the dynamic island looks It cuts into content even more than the notch and the software they put into doesn’t do enough in my opinion. It was just something to make people want to buy a new phone and clearly the marketing has worked on the masses. Otherwise it’s been pretty similar from the 12-14 Pro.
@@thomascobb5514 i also took the same path as you...got the 13 pro Max alpine green bcoz it looks beautiful...and the dynamic island is a distraction since i play games and watch movies/series on my phone. Also it's my first iPhone after being Android boi and i believe i will be much happy with it rather than going with 14pm.

Honestly I love the new changes the 14PM brings but I don’t see it as a worth while upgrade from my 13PM. What I also find to be a very strange position for people to be in is that for those looking at the base iPhone 14 I feel like they would be better off going for a 13 pro or 13 pro max just for extra camera lens and the ProMotion display and the prices coming down on those year old models as well it would just be a better value in my opinion. But otherwise I am still very happy with my 13PM and will be keeping for awhile longer.

Upgraded over the weekend from my 4 year old XS to the 14 Pro Max and the differences are absolutely lovely.
Same story for me. I had the iPhone X since 2018. The battery life and resolution on the 14 Pro Max is insane. I’ll also definitely be sticking to the larger size phones moving forward.

I've just upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 Pro Max. Initially I've ordered iPhone 14 Pro (not Max), but then I've changed my mind and took iPhone 13 Pro Max for about the same price. 😊
Just pick 13 Pro Max. It's technically the same as 14 but with minor differences but cheaper.
I did the same thing almost. Upgraded from the 11 Pro Max to the 13 Pro Max ($700 bucks on FB Marketplace) and it’s quite the jump for me without spending $1200+ on the 14 Pro Max.

I just bought 13 PM 256, it was 150 USD cheaper than 14 Pro 256. I dont really see any difference between 13 Pro and 14 Pro except the Dynamic Island and AOD.
Other thing was with Apple track record, they would make design changes in one generation and make it perfect in next generation, it happen all the time (6-> 6s, 7-> 8, X-> Xs, 11 pro -> 12/13 pro.
So 13 Pro / Pro Max was a much better choice right now. If your phone still do its job, you better wait till iPhone 15 Pro since it would be perfect version of 14. Pro
Got the purple 14 pro max as preferred it on space black but imo, nothing beats the blue of the 12 pro and 12 pro max.

Yes. That Dynamic Island is an eye catching and also annoying to be honest.. Its like a trademark that its Iphone 14 Pro/Promax. The notch is still comfortable😊.

As a heavy media user and enjoyer of big phones I can't stand the smaller size, screen and battery life of the 13 and 14 line. I might pick up the 13PM instead of maybe wait for the 14 Plus, but a used 256GB 13PM is still cheaper than a new 256GB 14 Plus.
The notch still seems better imo to enjoy media than the island. And ya cheaper rn so i don't think there is much to miss out or a major groundbreaking upgrade other than not fitting in with the dynamic island people

Depending where you are in the world .. US I would just go for the 14 as the amount you will save will be minimal. If in EU etc get the 13 as the cost difference will be noticeable. Both phones great but the 14 only very slightly edges over the 13.

I have an XS max and want to upgrade but don’t know if I should go out and grab a 13 Pro max from a store for cheaper or Pre order and 14 Pro max and wait a month or so and pay a little more monthly 🤔 I’ll probably also upgrade to Iphone 15 if they change from the Lighting cable. Hmm
Coming from the same phone, I went for the 13 Pro Max instead. The differences are not that big of a deal if you compare the 13 to the 14. And budget wise, it's a better deal.
Guys don’t allow these videos to convince you to chose the 13 IF YOUR MAIN REASON is because of the lack of SIM card tray. Only in the USA if you get it shipped from Canada you will have access to physical SIM card as well as E-SIM & E-SIM will eventually become the norm & just like the headphone Jack it won’t be missed because unless you go out of your way to try & get a physical sim they will be the old way of doing things. Carriers as well as other companies will switch to easier E-SIM

I’m a first time max owner. I’ve tried the 8 Plus and felt it to big. I still think the max is to big. But I’ve slowly gotten used to larger displays and yeah. Is a little more effort to navigate with one hand. But the pros of a larger screen easily outweigh the cons.

Was there a big difference between the IP13PM and IP12PM? Seems like the answer's is always the same - just small incremental upgrades so not worth to switch.
There’s a bigger difference between the 12PM and the 13PM than the 13PM and the 14PM, with the 13PM your getting better battery, faster chip, better screen, finally 120hz display on 13 pro models, better camera, etc

I upgraded ever 2 years only because my Canadian carrier Rogers wants me to pay $450 to keep my iPhone 12 so I am upgrading to iPhone 14 pro this year .

I just got the 13 pro max two days ago and I love this phone! I got to mess around with the 14 pro max and I didn’t really notice anything too new that made it seem drastically different from the 13. If money isn’t an issue go for the 14pm but for the most part they are nearly the same.
I’m upgrading from my iPhone 13 pro max Sierra Blue 256GB to the iPhone 14 pro max in Deep Purple 512GB in about 8 weeks
I'll be switching from an Android phone with a 6.67" display to the Deep Purple 14 Pro Max. As far as colors go, I would like to see Pacific Blue, Midnight, or Nebula Blue. That last color I mentioned is the color of my current phone. I'm going to have to get used to having a pill (Dynamic🏝) in the display, my current phone has no cameras in the screen. As far as battery life, I still get a day and a half between charges three years later.
I have the Pacific Blue 12 Pro 512 gb, beautiful color just upgraded and received Deep purple 14 pro 512 gb. It’s beautiful.
I love my 13pm in sierra blue. It’s a beast in the battery and the only thing that I can see is the dynamic island. As far as the aod not impressed with the way apple implementation. When I had Samsung phones I turned it off cause of the battery drain.

It's going to look very outdated in 3 to 4 years time on the front compared to other Android phones that will be released, otherwise if you don't mind the design it's still a great option

Hey Nick! I have a 13 Pro Max, do you recommend using True Tone and Night Shift? It's messing up the colors, but it's supposedly better for the eyes, I can't decide whether to use those features or not. Any hints? Thanks and greetings from overseas!
I use True Tone on all my of devices, I love the light bronze tint to it. Not a fan of the bright blues and whites of it regular.
I use it when reading and night time it is very easy on the eyes, during the day time you don't absolutely need them unless you like them features

Upgraded from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro Max and the dynamic island sure feels different. But i'm definitely not wowed by any stretch of the imagination. It's a 13 Pro Max S. If you have the money knock yourself out. But if not. You're not missing much 😉

Got a 14 pro gift from my fiancé however I am thinking of returning or even selling it and buying a 13 pro. Iphone 14 pro costs around 1500 euro's (1450 dollars). Buying a 13 pro max would cost me around 1000 bucks. Basically it would save me 450 bucks. So why spend so much more for minor updates?
Anywone with me or am I just seeing things wrong?
I agree I’d go for the 13PM especially if you can get it at a cheaper price. 13 PM gonna be around for awhile.
@@meathead207 I bought the 13pro alpine green yesterday and couldn't be happier. The dynamic island for me is just a gimmick and to be honest I think it would only frustrate me.
