- What did the early church think of the book of Hebrews? Who thought that Paul wrote the letter? If there wasn't agreement, why was it in the canon? In this short clip Dr. Licona answers these questions.

It's interesting that you quote Origen to support that "we don't know who the author of Hebrews", when elsewhere Origen says that Paul is the author of Hebrews.
That’s a misquote of Origen. Origen believed Paul authored Hebrews but whomever wrote Hebrews was a mystery. There’s a difference between authorship and penmanship. Tertius wrote Romans, Paul authored Romans (Rom. 16:22). That’s what Origen meant.
@@70_X_7 i know there is a difference, that's why I said that Paul was the "author" and NOT the "writer".
@@JosePlascenciaPodcastCatolico I was agreeing with what you said, the video misquotes Origen.
@@70_X_7I agree. Did you happen to watch the interview Matt Whitman did on this a few years ago?
@@edwinohanlon3834, not that I recall. If you have the link send it I’ll give it a watch.
Close to the end of the book Hebrews the writer mentioned Timothy a dear friend of Paul, I believe the book of Hebrews was written by Paul.
there isn't enough evidence
BESTMAHMOUD10VEVO I believe there is. “Grace be with you all.” is the closing of Hebrews, which is Pauls “distinguishing mark” in all his letters (2 Thes 3:17) The end of Hebrews also includes “God of peace” in the closing and mention of brother Timothy which was Pauls co worker that he met on his second missionary journey and wrote 2 letters to prior, after he sent timothy to Ephesus. Who else than Paul would go with Timothy in this current letter?
sooooo all someone would have to do to frame you for a murder you did not commit, is possess a letter claimed to be written by you, that lays out your elaborate scheme that starts with, "Descendant of Judah, manifesto of my diabolical killing plan." If someone can just write something and attribute it to someone without an interrogation of whether they are lying or telling the truth, even if its centuries later, then you care not about the veracity of the text. You really should study pseudepigrapha more.
@@ricoparadiso I have heard paul was a false apostles and liar and went against Jesus what your response

When some people say that Paul is a false Apostle, this doesn't mean he was a false Apostle.
When Jews called Jesus a false Messiah, does that mean He is a false Messiah? No! We have to judge one in the light of his teachings and the previous revelations.
I belive that Paul is an Apsotle of the Lord Jesus because of how he enlightens us with the further depth of the message of Christ and his establishment of the ministry of Christ in the light of some of the Old Testament teachings. I cannot conclude that the blessed Apostle Paul was a false Apostle otherwise we would have found his vile disagreement with the other Apostles like Peter.
In fact Peter acknowledges the writings of Paul as inspiration in 2 Peter 3:15-16.
If you don't believe that Paul was an Apsotle of Christ, that is up to you.
There are people who question and doubt the existence of God and this doesn't mean that they are right
2 thes 3:17 all of his letters include something about grace being with you all near or at the end, the only other book not written by paul that has this is revelation
So Hebrews is by Paul? “Grace be with you all.” is the closing of Hebrews, it also includes “God of peace” in the closing and mention of brother Timothy which was Pauls co worker that he met on his second missionary journey.
@@ricoparadisoHebrews was written by Paul or someone very close to him. But it was ultimately inspired by the Holy Spirit. Thats truly what matters.
I was thinking to myself "who wrote Hebrews" and the Holy Spirit, knowing my thoughts, whispered "Paul"
Then i immediately came here.
When you came here you discovered that the author is anonymous 😮😂😂😂
The whole style, choice of language and ethos of Hebrews is so different to the Pauline epistles, I just cannot accept it was written by him. Indeed, for me, the book has the most refined theology of all the epistles and is a challenging and demanding read, which will reward well those who get into it. I believe the book was written by a woman, otherwise it would have been rejected. Also the style has a feminine gentleness in it.
How about a sermon of Paul’s transcribed by one of his colleagues.

I've published an argument for a named, non-Pauline author. If you're here, you'll likely be interested in the video czcams.com/video/5Ovy6CdswEI/video.html. I believe a common problem on this topic is the false presumption that the evidence for any author other than Paul is likely to be too thin for a strong argument. I'm a classicist, fwiw, and a Xian and would value any helpful criticisms and feedback on the argument.
