They drive incredibly well but can be nightmares to keep. Clean it and sell it as fast as you can. You are seeing stage 1 of the interior falling apart with that glove compartment cover. Run!
My friend bought a 2011 X3 about 5 years ago for $7K. It had similar miles on it. He's been dailying it ever since and it's been an incredibly reliable car. Same body style as this one, but he has the non turbo I6.
These F series of BMW's are pretty darn reliable. Frequent oil changed and you should be safe from timing chain issues. The sound systems are a lot better when connected to auxiliary devices. Not sure if this one has a start stop function, if you have a switch for it by the start stop switch it will be equipped with it. My tach has a "ready" position when the auto start/stop is engaged which your car doesn't seem to have. I've had a few of these BMW's so if you have any questions let me know!
Don't be scared. The newer models are incredibly reliable. BMW just ranked in the top 3 most reliable brands (right behind Toyota and Lexus)! Yes, dealer service can be expensive but I've had 3 newer models and they have all been more reliable than my previous Volvos or even the Toyota I had.
Nice one Joe. These scare me a bit, but, like a lot of people, I'd like to try one. My father briefly had a 2014 535xi and it was lovely. Friend has a 2016 528xi with the same powertrain as your X3, and, from my very brief encounters with it, I loved it. Just not sure I can stand the image they project, but that's purely my view.

The newer X3's are much improved over safety and reliability over the older models from BMW. They are impressive.
