Then I started to see gameplay vids for the characters I liked and realized I was approaching the game wrong. Got back into it using the fundamentals i studied and started getting better results… and THEN I started adapting and playing with my own style. Much more rewarding that way.

I've talked with "16bit" now Stephanie Brownback during MK1 and she doesn't care about balance, characters competitive capabilities or broken stuff. She's not a pro player anymore for 8+ years. She does Quality Assurance for things like How a character looks, cosmetics, lore and stuff like that. Paulo Garcia does frame data and balance and isn't a pro and they do get some pros pre launch to look at balance but no way they can find everything

And, combos are too hard or too long, dude. I'm fully blind and have a severely impaired right hand and can still do some of these conversions. And the fact that combos take a bit of effort and are actually kind of lengthy is so refreshing compared to 11. Sounds like he needs to work on not getting hit
Foxy goes for the Salt which isn't my thing but i do enjoy his videos. One thing he mentioned that i actually liked was Foxy will play any Scrub or learning player online. It only gets SALTY when the opponent starts talking smack because he's outplaying them. Crap like "Why you zoning Bro" or "Stop Throwing, You're Cheating" 😂 or my favorite: "you are trah, you don't know how to play" while he destroys you in neutral. They are so focused on combos when its about movement, reads, setplay, neutral you know everything before you open them up or setup a wiff punish. As long as you have better fundamentals than them it doesn't matter if you do 10% or 40% each touch/projectile You will win because they cant open you up. The main reason Foxy can runaway all match tossing fans and fly away because better neutral, better game knowledge, better reads, better reactions and better setplay (staggers/ knockdown meaty setups/traps/backdash wiff punish Shimmy) You can literally climb to God rank just doing Backdash button, staggers and microduck after -4 to -7 strings.
At the very least pro players know what they are talking about and theyve learned the game from top to bottom. I have a preemptive PTSD just by thinking about competitive game designed by clowns like FATE.

I'll admit I have issues with MK1, but this guy is having a giraffe. Also Foxy I think you slightly made a mistake when this guy spoke about the classic MK games. MK1, MK2, MK3-MKT and MK4 all used the same basic combat system with HP, LP, LK, HK making them play similar to each other with the difference being the new mechanics added in each game. From MK1 to MK2 roundhouse kicks now knocked opponents away, cross-ups were now possible when jumping over opponents, pushback was added to landed uppercuts in the corner amongst other things. MK3-MKT added the run mechanic along with dial combos which also made its way into MK4, which in itself added weapons and interactable objects. The 3d era changed everything and Deadly Alliance, Deception Armageddon and MKvsDC all played mostly similar to each other with the addition of new mechanics (Deception added breakers and death traps, Armageddon added parries and wake up options, MKvsDC added ex-moves and the rage system). It wasn't really until MK9 when each game that came after was different from the previous game.
I remember a point during your discussion where you brought up how there was no word to define some one who is invested enough in a game to play it constantly or to make content about it while also not having the skill or game knowledge to play at higher levels. I believe there is a word for some one like that, its called being an amateur. there's nothing wrong with being an amateur ,in fact anyone who is good at anything started off as a casual then worked there way to being an amateur . Where things get weird for fate is never moving past this intermediary step and pretending that your an authority on things you admit you don't fully know. To be honest being a pro isn't even about accolades or recognition from other people, that just displays where you stand amongst other players. (a purana is a shark amongst gold fish after all) to be a pro is to be knowledgeable and fluent in all relent aspects of a skill, craft or game and to understand the relationships of those aspects in order to gain more of an understanding. Fate choosing what he wants to understand and what he ignores is his choice but pretending that core mechanics don't matter because he doesn't apply them is irritating especially when he clams to be "for the causal audience". simply put he's too learned with the system to be a casual and his player bracket consist of players more enthroned with the fact that they got the game running or with the goofy ass mods they have then they care about improving at the game which intern artificially spikes his ego to the point that he believes he understand the game on the same level as those who are actually proficient at the game. a forever amateur by choice.

And, combos are too hard or too long, dude. I'm fully blind and have a severely impaired right hand and can still do some of these conversions. And the fact that combos take a bit of effort and are actually kind of lengthy is so refreshing compared to 11. Sounds like he needs to work on not getting hit

Foxy goes for the Salt which isn't my thing but i do enjoy his videos. One thing he mentioned that i actually liked was Foxy will play any Scrub or learning player online. It only gets SALTY when the opponent starts talking smack because he's outplaying them. Crap like "Why you zoning Bro" or "Stop Throwing, You're Cheating" 😂 or my favorite: "you are trah, you don't know how to play" while he destroys you in neutral.
They are so focused on combos when its about movement, reads, setplay, neutral you know everything before you open them up or setup a wiff punish. As long as you have better fundamentals than them it doesn't matter if you do 10% or 40% each touch/projectile
You will win because they cant open you up. The main reason Foxy can runaway all match tossing fans and fly away because better neutral, better game knowledge, better reads, better reactions and better setplay (staggers/ knockdown meaty setups/traps/backdash wiff punish Shimmy)
You can literally climb to God rank just doing Backdash button, staggers and microduck after -4 to -7 strings.
Fate has those moments he pauses thinking he's said something profound, but doesn't realize that EVERYONE WHO PLAYS THE TAME KNOWS THAT.

I'll admit I have issues with MK1, but this guy is having a giraffe. Also Foxy I think you slightly made a mistake when this guy spoke about the classic MK games. MK1, MK2, MK3-MKT and MK4 all used the same basic combat system with HP, LP, LK, HK making them play similar to each other with the difference being the new mechanics added in each game. From MK1 to MK2 roundhouse kicks now knocked opponents away, cross-ups were now possible when jumping over opponents, pushback was added to landed uppercuts in the corner amongst other things. MK3-MKT added the run mechanic along with dial combos which also made its way into MK4, which in itself added weapons and interactable objects. The 3d era changed everything and Deadly Alliance, Deception Armageddon and MKvsDC all played mostly similar to each other with the addition of new mechanics (Deception added breakers and death traps, Armageddon added parries and wake up options, MKvsDC added ex-moves and the rage system). It wasn't really until MK9 when each game that came after was different from the previous game.
I remember a point during your discussion where you brought up how there was no word to define some one who is invested enough in a game to play it constantly or to make content about it while also not having the skill or game knowledge to play at higher levels. I believe there is a word for some one like that, its called being an amateur. there's nothing wrong with being an amateur ,in fact anyone who is good at anything started off as a casual then worked there way to being an amateur . Where things get weird for fate is never moving past this intermediary step and pretending that your an authority on things you admit you don't fully know. To be honest being a pro isn't even about accolades or recognition from other people, that just displays where you stand amongst other players. (a purana is a shark amongst gold fish after all) to be a pro is to be knowledgeable and fluent in all relent aspects of a skill, craft or game and to understand the relationships of those aspects in order to gain more of an understanding. Fate choosing what he wants to understand and what he ignores is his choice but pretending that core mechanics don't matter because he doesn't apply them is irritating especially when he clams to be "for the causal audience". simply put he's too learned with the system to be a casual and his player bracket consist of players more enthroned with the fact that they got the game running or with the goofy ass mods they have then they care about improving at the game which intern artificially spikes his ego to the point that he believes he understand the game on the same level as those who are actually proficient at the game. a forever amateur by choice.

I joined a FATE stream just to see how he played. First, he was awful. Second he ignored every legitimate point or argument chat or I made just to respond to insults. He was also spamming up block to mock it but actually failed the punish the one time he did it right.
