I don't have the answer to your question
"I don't have the answer to these questions"
Well Justin I'll tell you this, you answered it very succinctly. Even though the question is ridiculous and redundant. You went to Oxford and schooled them, salute to you sir.
Ha! I tried to find a way to work that into the speech. Not a great sentence to include in a debate. But thank you for checking it out. I really appreciate it.
The Company Man Media You're welcome, know you've got fans here in London, UK.
Kanye : "You dont got the answers, Justin Hunte!"

"'Yeezy delivered like amazon prime"'
I honestly can't believe this was even a discussion like I was looking for something to watch on CZcams and I found it a discussion about Kanye West being more relevant than Shakespeare. wow
Right?! It would be like comparing Kanye to Bach. Bitch, Kanye isnt even as relevant as Scott Joplin.
Kanye's legacy needs to survive hundreds of years first
Miles Hayford No, relevance is about the now. Who's more iconic? We'll have to wait, but Kanye is in the news and the modern conversation much more than Shakespeare.
RADubs: Well its both; Relevance is not only your impact on the now but how long that impact echoes through time. And we have way more time to measure Shakespeare's reach than Kanye. Sure, Yeezy is in the news more but the news is by nature more focused on the ephemeral aspects of our culture. As for the "modern conversation", you have to be more specific. What conversation? Shakespeare has impacted the way conversations happen to begin with. The words/phrases that he conjured and wrote over a millennia ago still get uttered by people today more so than Kanye lyrics. His ideas and themes have been re-immortalized and reused time and time again. The Lion King? The stories he told set a framework that we still use. We still name our children after names he first invoked like Jessica. I like Kanye, but Shakespeare is on another level, admittedly because of the time he lived in but that only makes the question weirder to ask.
Zane Smith Music which it won't.
It will...
closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered.
Poetry and rap aren't closely connected? is that your point? pioneers aren't still relevant?
He finally had the answers to the questions lmao
he was spot on with that
Thanks Harold. My father's named Harold too.
The Company Man Media wtf is this Justin????????????? I've been watching your hip hop dx videos and really respect your opinion

Huge fan of Justin Hunte - a rising star! Always comes through with the top quality content! Hip Hop DX is well worth a look
Who?
@@Ahmad_9134 the rising star who i just found out about today: that's who!
I know Justin is analytical and a good orator, but this was leagues above what I expected.
Justin Hunt KILLED this set. Thank you. Hip Hop DX should give the man a huge bonus for his service here.
Bro I love that line from Andre
This is all you need regarding this question
let's break it down
LMAO HOLY SHIT THIS IS GREAT
Very well spoken and educated, the real 🐐🐐
what the f did i just watch - epic
That's the man right there
PREACH!
Man like Big Narstie and hip hop DX in the same vid. This is a beautiful ting.
Template for succeeding in Hollywood:
1. Steal other people’s work such as movies or music and put it together and market it as your own.
2. Tell people that it’s yours and they’ll believe it. Tap into their mind by talking about confidence, self acceptance of their looks etc. using words of old philosophers and/or writers and re-framing them into your own, in a country full of financially enslaved people looking for inspiration.
3. Have a fake personality = diva / crazy etc. so people actually believe you’re different and a genius etc. but you’re not. Keep this up when the cameras are around you.
4. Set up a TV show or any media platform, make everything fake and sell your fake personality, strategically planned with events e.g. birth, work releases etc. Any kind of scandal helps!
5. Pay paparazzi to take pictures of you and put you on the news papers. This causes a psychological effect of importance in humans. Make sure you’re seen pictured with so called “important people” too.
6. Make sure your social media followers are really high, so pay bots (50% + need to be fake), with the comments being limited so it’s seems people care about your profile (another psychological effect on humans), as well as fake likes, and slightly photoshopped pictures to achieve unattainable goals.
7. Make money by selling a product or service (it doesn’t have to work, based on point 6.) and become a billionaire with it in assets, even though it might not be liquid and you only have royalties etc. people will believe it anyway because it’s all psychological. Make sure you say ‘it’s sold out’ so it looks like people are buying it.
8. Go on the media again, and talk about how successful you’ve been etc. and inspire younger uninformed generations with quotes that have been used for decades. Make sure you’re posted on news registers for rich people. Most of the world’s richest decline to be on them.
@Username 123 Yeah that's why Shakespeare is great. This video shouldn't even be a topic lol
Justin nailed it with a very historical, insightful, and relevant understanding of the two personas. Kanye West aka "The Ghost in the Shell"
that was goooood
Thank you!
Waiting for him to say "run that clip James"
Love how Big Narsties there 😂
There's a guy behind Justin who looks very happy
I find that there is discrepancy between what the sides agree to be relevancy. they both make very compelling arguments as to the impact of the argued individuals but relevance needs to be clearly defined, and a metric agreed upon to properly assess it.
he dropped a haymaker at the end
Really effective argument from the Opposition. I tip my hat to Mr. Hunte.
Justin's a fantastic speaker.
I'll never understand why people say Andre 3000 is the greatest rapper of all time lol, he doesn't even have a solo album, lol idk if The Love Below counts, but really tho
Can you really not understand? I mean, have you ever tried thinking about it? lol
people trying to prove how smart they are to each other by overthinking stuff
Good question🤔
enjoyed the odd hiphopdx video but this made me subscribe
Dope 💛
Up next: 'kim kardashian more relevant than Marilyn Monroe'. Am waiting
Brain the response to this would be yes, actually
she is tho
Much more relevant
But she is...And she's hotter too imo
Well Marilyn wasn't that talented and like Kim she mainly made it because of her sex appeal. I think they have a lot in common
I wonder why Justin never became a rapper... Great voice, great writer, loves hip hop. I'd love to hear him spit a verse.
i love justin hunt. that man can convince me of anything
the question should be is kanye west as relevant as kanye used to be?
I don't have the answers to these questions
Akala and Justin Hunte are some of the greatest of all time
AY! Company Man laying it down.
REALLY!? PARLIMENT? lmfao
Interesting how for example he talks about the swagger of Kanye West. Ironically swagger is a term first recorded in Shakespeare's work. As many others are. To me the fact it actively takes effort to speak for longer than 2 minutes without using something coined or inspired by Shakespeare is the only argument needed to demonstrate his timeless relevance. Kanye isn't even close.
Edit: I was trying to be clever and literally 30 seconds after I unpause he explains that was his point and argument.
Comparing the guy who is more or less the bedrock of modern English and writing to a guy who makes pop music. I wouldn't even compare The Beatles and The Rolling Stones as a whole to Shakespeare.
San Quentin is NOT near San Francisco
Love the J'aich
this dude is prophetic - "the question is is kanye as relevant as kanye use to be?"
i think Justine has a better argument compared to wards'
Is this topic important to have a debate about?
The guy in the back was almost slipping ajjaja, and to me this speaker sounds like Obama
Justin Hunte - What's up NUPE? Nu Chi How are you? I saw this video mt teachers were looking at and said, "Hey I know him. Is his name Justin?" They said yes and I said WOW. "That's my frat brother." They want you to come speak to their students.
Why is this even a motion?
This fellow is really interesting. I haven't seen an intellectual debate on these Oxford videos for a while where they stayed on point and used relevant examples. Since Relevant is referring to how it impact everyone universally. Positive or negative I can agree that Shakespeare is seen everywhere and used in all forms of life. The only way I see Kanye being part of every aspect more than the rap / pop culture is his wife and how they are reality TV. Shakespeare is about life and is for life where Kanye seems to be about himself.
3:40 - dude mentions neo in the matrix in an analogy to Kanye west ... I wonder if any of these people care that a woman of colour wrote that great saga in full then got ripped off - Sophia Stewart (Mother of the Matrix).. an African American playwright no less
Did he circle some imaginary points on a paper?
This was an actual debate? Jesus fucking Christ, what is the world coming to.
Justin is a hero
Shakespeare is HOW we think, whether one likes it or not.
yes he is.
that's a well dressed man
0:20...I see what he did there! Nice.
damn man. Justin went IN on Kanye in the last couple of minutes.
Someone shoulda told Justin to fix his pants cuff. The red socks are fresh though, so he still won!
Shakespeare was never the peoples champ. Yes his works were very popular among the people, he was never one of them. It's sort of like Stanely Kubrick. Yes many people are inspired by him, but Kubrick was NOT one of the people, that's why he could make works for them. There's clarity from the outside looking in you can never get from the inside.
Great speech but stop looking at dem notes every 2 seconds
I feel sorry for English literature and humanity basically when Kanye West, being the famous millionaire grammy winning rapper, producer and fashion designer he is nonetheless nothing absolutely nothing compared to the literary genius and the greatest playwright in the English language, whose works are the most published, read and studied second probably only to the bible, who life's works have relevant on social, political, cultural issues, is relevant and will be relevant as future generations learn about his valuable contributions to the English language, literature, culture, drama/plays/theatre and vocabulary. For example, take the popular slang word swag which originates from the word swagger, invented by Shakespeare
Holy YAWN this message was... The worst. For some reason, your message is even more displeasing than those who name call and barely have little to no logic. I think it's because you seem smart, but that's what makes your message worse? lol
Close your eyes and it almost sounds like Obama speaking
Yeezy the GOAT
Saqib Munir Nah Jay Z is.
Justin Hunte
This was the only good thing in this debate.
the only time kanye had a hand in shaping art as we know it (aka being relevant) was with 808's. Everything else is products of a great artist, but not a "relevant" one.
🔥🔥🔥 and I love Kanye but my God 🙌🏾🐐
This guy is unwavy af but he's an extremely prolific and effective speaker
WE STILL TALKIN WAVY THO?
Brandon Strecker "unwavy af" lmao
Brandon Strecker unwavy? what
Brandon Strecker okay brandon
What does that even mean
Everything you explained about Shakespeare's legacy was given to him after he passed ( planet's, trump narrative, university links, and translated scripts) so who is to say that won't happen with Kanye's legacy. And when you speak about his music bieng taken into perspective, that tells you how strong his music is.
Aged like milk
the only worth while opinion in this whole debate
boy if u dont keep william name out of hippop that man made the english language it is right now !
you dont say
shit he had an answer to this question ?
HipHopDX ayyyyy
yet you use his name to make your video relevant
Kanye is still a God so...
what the fuck am i watching
Because Shakespeare is such a relatable person to the average Joe? What you think he wasn't rich too? LOL. And Kanye West trying to find Kanye West is precisely why I still find him so relatable and I'm sure plenty of other people feel the same!
Never liked Shakespeare but Kanye talentless
dude sound just like obama
Joe Keller no
Joe Keller there were times where he did sound like Obama
W
NARSTIE RETURN TO BASE!!!!!!
Mr. Collier BDL unite
Kanye the goat
The question is who is more relevant, not who is more influential. Still, Kanye is more relevant to black folks, and those who aren't a part of the Oxford Union. I've consumed and enjoyed more of Kanye's work than I'm even interested in Shakespeare. (This is despite my gripes with his personality and reactions at times.) Besides, this is all relative! We don't know how much of an asshole Shakespeare could have been, personally. I'm pretty sure it was a lot easier for a white guy to be prolific 400 years ago than it is for a black man to be influential, original, and relevant today. Maybe we won't know how "relevant" he is until he passes. Historical figures always seem to get higher favor over living/relevant ones.✊🏾
Shakespeare created a precedent. Kanye West is just an average pop/rap star. The media fuels our vain and vacuous culture, and his "celebrity" largely works in tandem with that. his popularity isn't reflective of much in the 21st century, granted he will be immortalized as a pop icon. As of now he isn't a tragic figure, like a cobain, or pac. It's sad, but tragedy would add some weight to his temperament which would in the long run help substantiate him in the annals of history. But for the most part his relevancy, as it is, exists in our cult like worship of celebrity culture.
How exactly was it easier 500 years ago for a white guy to be more prolific than a black man today? Yea I guess if you were able to come up with anything back then it might seem prolific. But think about life and culture 500 years ago. Nowadays potential is endless. Anyone with wifi has the ability to reach millions instantly. The potential for something prolific to reach the masses is much easier than 500 years ago, and for it to survive through the ages. Maybe less competition made it easier, but if it's prolific, then competition wouldn't really matter.
If you think Kanye is an average pop/rap star then you obviously haven't listened to his work.
THE FUCK IS THIS?
Seriously - debating Kayne West!
you ain't got the answers!!
