- An analysis of double stroke technique. Such a simple, useful tool, and yet out in the work-a-day world of club gigging, I don't see many drummers using it. That's a shame, because it opens up a world of possibilities... so, get to it! If you haven't already, I ask that you commit to mastering double strokes! My apologies for the krappy slomo "quality". I have since devised a much higher quality solution, and will be publishing that in a follow-up video, because doubles are THAT IMPORTANT!

Thank you Karl.
Buddy Rich snare drum rudiments...page 13
> light accent
^ heavy accent
When you incorporate that in your playing Karl, YOUR ruff's are like trying to pick out a fan blade while spinning.
I appreciate the instruction, and then incorporating that into lessons.
A lot of the MEAT in the Buddy Rich and guitar center drum book 1 is at home material. A half hour lesson per week only allows for a small piece of progression. If a student is not diligent at practice and advancing, it will show itself.
I am trying to learn guitar chords as well.
Doggone strings are tearing up my fingertips.
Retirement is a Tuff cookie.
How about doubles or triples on the kick drum Karl.
Not sure if my leg is a little on the slow side or what. Like being able to HEAR accent's...I know it takes time. I have watched some kids on the Tube run the kick peddle and it's like you FAN illusion. Mesmerizing...
It can be so frustrating because of the time required, but slowly, surely, everything starts making sense. I have the advantage of having started at a young age, and in school I was very motivated, and built a (fairly) good foundation. The older we get, the harder it is! Not impossible, but definitely harder. Thanks for the idea, I do believe I'll present a video about double and triple bass drum strokes (with a single pedal). Thanks for watching!
