Really cool seeing that THE CATCH Mays card. I've worn that glove!!! My former neighbor, the late Don Liddle, threw the pitch and he and May's were good friends for a good many years. He gave Don the glove and some other really nice stuff. Used to sit and listen to him talk about being in the big leagues and was always completely in awe, even though he didn't have a long career. I miss Don..he was a very very nice guy.
His son and Cooperstown have some kind of agreement for the glove to be on display now....but man...and I still get goosebumps... I've actually caught an official major league Baseball,thrown over my shoulder by an honest to goodness,bonafide Major League pitcher, in THE GLOVE that Mays made THE CATCH with. AWESOME doesn't begin to describe the feeling.

Very nick pickup, Love the 57 Mantle, The Ripken traded, Mantle is who I collect the most, My dad's guy, also like the Mantle/Aaron card, All I collect is Vintage, I'm a huge Pete Rose fan, You done well I think, My dad passed in 94, so I been trying to get as many cards of the Mick

Bill Simpson had a card shop + pet store in Cypress back in the 80s. Used to go there a lot. Valley View and Lampson if memory serves.
This was Bill’s shop that I bought out! He’s the best, he moved to Tennessee to be closer to family. The pet store is still operating!

Hey man you might want to look into it but I heard that PSA grades easy on vintage miscut cards. I honestly don't know how true that is but it might be worth trying to get a couple of the miscut ones graded by PSA to see if it gets a higher grade.

This was an epic pickup! It always sucks to see any card shop close. I still walk past what used to be neighborhood baseball card shop that I used to frequent as a kid. Still makes me feel some sort of way even though it was a dinky little place. I picked up the 1985 Topps Kirby Puckett rookie card there (poorly centered) for $18. Hope you will treasure what few cards you get to keep! Thanks for the video!
that last section of old baseball cards where you had the laminated ones, i have a jackie robinson one of that type not laminated and it’s being sent in to be graded as an expected 6/7

I love card collecting. I have 2 binders of cards in my basement but I want a collection in my apt.which is more accessible. Can I get older sports cards at a store like Walmart?
I wish, Walmart will only have newer cards, from more recent years. However, depending on your location, you should be able to find a somewhat close local card shop you can visit!

3500 for card store, more like a collection. No card store could survive with that inventory. Nice for a collection but but what I call a LCS. Nice pick up though.

I would be glad to hear what you want for any inch, yard, pile, stack, half stack, or any of those plastic cases, if there's anything left please get in touch with me! All I collect is vintage and that's the best as far as diversity I've seen. I know it's what I call "kid loved" and I'll bet coveted cards, so I expect a Hershey thumb print or two.

3500 was a solid deal for you on this one. I’m shocked this was all of the content for an entire card shop but it’s a great lot to have acquired. Lots of opp for grading and exponential ROI

Hard to tell from the video but do the 60 and 57 mantles measure correctly?
The main thing here is you seem to be very happy with the purchase that's what counts the most...My opinion is......You will know more on how you did after you get some of those Mantle's graded...and maybe the Clemente, Aaron and Mays cards..They always sell in any grade if the price is right...You have a big inventory ...Hope you make a hugh profit ..

Congrats, those type of "sales" don't happen every day. I think you'll do fine financially, it's just a matter of how much time it takes to recover your money (including grading fees) and what you value your time at.

This is just a note; but I’ve had some trouble in the recent past subbing cards that have been in the screw down holders for too long with PSA. They tend to get altered stock but I’ve had some that got through in grading. This happens when there is no noticeable difference in appearance on the card. If they’ve been smashed a little you can run into trouble. SGC isn’t as strict with these in my experience. Just a thing to keep in mind for the 57 Mantle.
Economy is less than a month right now though so it can definitely be worth it.
Yeah. Screw downs flatten cards over time and make them bigger. PSA has been picking that up lately and not grading them.
I think a lot of the vintage will come back altered
I’ve been buying and grading his cards for multiple years and it’s all good, either way thanks for watching.
1 card out of over 2,000 came back with an “altered stock” designation since it had been in the screw down holder. But thanks for commenting! 😂😂😂

They were some of the only back stock that he had. None of the cards are reprints, that’s a papa promise hahah

It was a great card store! Just no back room storage or anything like that. Just a few thousand vintage singles, my kind of store!

The reason “old men” buy cards like this is cuz they’re truly rare cards of all time greats. MANY true collectors pass vintage collecting on to their children. Basically people with money typically buy vintage. People that don’t know shit about shit buy modern. The only new cards worth much of anything are so incredibly hard to get, it’s not even worth buying the boxes in an attempt to get them. I’d rather have 6 creased Mickey Mantle’s than a box of 2021 Prizm any sport.
