Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories: Defeating Heishin (1st) Legitimately in Campaign Mode

Thanks to speedrunners on SRL, I remembered about this amazing game from my childhood and all it's fantastic RNG. I decided to go buy it (I think I mooched off my friend's copy all those years) and play it again. After I beat it a couple days ago I decided to make challenges for it.
This challenge is to defeat Heishin (1st) during Campaign Mode using only your game file. You may not trade, use passwords + starchip purchases, or use gameshark. This is particularly difficult because not a lot of good cards are even possible to get early in the game.
I decided to go for Summoned Skull strats because the Job-Change Mirror is accessible from Villager 2 with an S or A-rank win at a 15/2048 chance of obtaining the card. After around 50 S or A rank duels I got the Job-Change Mirror (That's about a 30% chance of happening). I also got the Axe of Despair during this process and some other useful cards. Getting a Kunai of Chain or Sword of Dark Destruction on the other hand has a much higher probability of occuring (34/2048 for Kunai and 16/2048 for Sword) However, it took me a massive 183 duels until I finally got the Kunai of Chain (That's a 1.1% chance of happening) In the video I show off some extremely rare cards that are possible, but very unlikely to get from Joey that I got before getting Kunai with Chain.
After I got the cards I needed, it took 3 tries to beat Heishin. That was a fun challenge. If you feel brave, you can try it too. It may require many hours of grinding to pull it off though.

you could fuse a lot of magic and trap cards in this game. dian keto + dian keto = megamorph, and i remember wasteland (or was it umi) and black hole created a magic card that destroys all fish monsters

In Forbidden Memories, Sparks can be fused with Legendary Sword to make Salamandra (it can also be fused with itself to make Hinotama, but that's less useful).

Wow, I never would have thought this was possible. Thanks for clearing up my childhood mystery lol. They should have add a feature where there's an extra cut scene or achievement at the end of a game to congratulate the player for winning against such formidable odds.

Really all you need is the ability to make the summoned skull or even THTD if you have enough dragons treasures.

Very interesting. Also, I finally decided a month ago to try and beat Heishin 1st the first time going through Campaign mode. It took two hours of grinding to get the cards I needed (Kunai with Chain, Time Wizard, THTD fusion monsters) and three tries, but I finally did it. The experience was surprisingly rewarding too, because I was able to get through the second part of the game (the tournament) with no grinding at all. I ended up beating the entire game in two days, the shortest time it's ever taken me to finish it. :)

Yeah I have no way of beating the whole game without Meteor B Dragon and abunch of equips. Though, on my 2nd time playing it without cheating of course. I still lose to Heishin 2 because he brings 2 Gate Guardians and none of my meteor B dragons or the fusion to make him ever shows up. Happens like 5 times, I was mad. Makes me want to quit again, especially if Seto 3 pulls out a BEUD on the first turn.

The first time i defeated him he gave me crimson sunbird (2300atk)
If you beat this guy fast enough you'll get some really good cards such as meteor b dragon, black skull dragon, skull knight, etc. I know this because I've gotten all these cards by beating him repeatedly in story mode.
Finally, i was wondering when they'd nerf sparks.
It's basically guaranteed people have beaten him before legitimately, I never said I was the frist to do it? However, after a quick search on youtube, no one seems to have uploaded a video of it. There are videos of people beating him with trading/gameshark however,
your a good player bro this game i feel is effing impossible you have a deck that has 1200 ATK monsters at most and the the most easiest person when your doing the elemental shrines come out of the gate at 2300+ they have nothing less really kinda depressing also that you get next to nothing for wins

I beat him first time once. And I got a Meteor B Dragon which was amazing. But after you beat him he just rematches you. I couldn't believe it, I just got real lucky with the cards

Worst part of this battle is you have to lose to that freak. It is suppose to be the road of trials or where it begins. (Or to say simply, the hero loses, then goes through a training montage to kick the freak's ass in the next meeting)

He also has the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon if i remember correctly. So for some time his summoned skull could be defeated
@@dwightsmith3815 Heishin does not have blue eyes ultimate, 1st version of Heishin strongest 2 monster is Meteor B.Dragon and Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth with 3500 attack also he got Megamorph. 2nd version of Heishin got Gate Guardian 3750 attack added. Seto 3rd got Blue Eyes Ultimate

It's very rare that he will drop it though apparently because even the speed runner was cursing the absurdity of it.
For those who don't know, as well as the Job-change Mirror fusion, if you fuse Embryonic Beast with Time Wizard it makes Summoned Skull as well.
TheLQ-Gaming I just realised that this works because Embryonic Beast is basically a baby. So Time Wizard makes it grow into Summoned Skull. Similar to Dark Magician and Dark Sage. Mind. Blown.

I believe if you pressed the Square button when selecting a target to attack it'll go in a 3-D model combat phase. Quite badass for a ps1 game

I remembered if you're able to beat him within a few turns (get 5 star chips rank) and like more than 30-50 times, you might get Meteor Black Dragon. It's quite a good card with the Attack Power of 3,500

I remember playing this game so many years ago & I remember how awful it was to beat this duel & I only had weak cards! Not a single win....I gotta tell you. But this shows how it was done. This was a great video to view. Thanks for posting this. :)

I was once lucky enough to win against him too in one of my playthrough without cheat, I used Umi on my first turn, and then I fused a Twin-headed Thunder Dragon + dark energy to make it have 3800 atk on 2nd turn, I think he gave me a flame cerebrus for that win? I can't really remember.. it was around 10 years ago when that miracle happen

I only beat him once and from the rematch menu but I had lost to him like 80 times. I don't remember how exactly, but I had created about two twin headed thunder dragons and with some power ups. I also turned the field into water. He managed to kill my dragons. Idk how but he was down to 2000 life points while I was down to 1000. I finished him off with that fire lion card that had 2100 attack points. The greatest achievement of my childhood lol. The card I won from him was shitty though smh.
Mountains would have been better option had he not have bunch off Dragons, Thunder and Winged beasts cards but yeah, defeating this asshat must've felt good.

I remember beating him one time by absolute fluke totally legitimately I started with some really easy combos to make twin headed thunder dragons and boost them. I was crushed that it made me immediately vs him again and instantly lose.
I think that's the point. Even if you beat him in campaign mode early on, he refuses to accept it and will challenge you indefinitely until you lose. But if you're lucky, you can score a powerful monster

i remember before learning about the Meadow Mage, beating the game was basically me getting lucky with Summoned Skull. Somehow felt more satisfying and earned that way...

I welcome your calm and courage because even with the right cards to defeat him, you still need to draw them, and it's really hard to not become nervous against an opponent of who his weakest cards has 2500 ATK without fusing. I didn't have any equip card or the way to summon Sumonned Skull to that time, my strongest card was Jirai Gumo and it couldn't match his beasts. As a child i tough the only way to get the strongest cards of the game was to earn 999 999 starchips for each, boring me to death, even if i love Duel Monsters, even tough it is useless to beat him at this part of the game, it's still an exploit.

The Sheriff Just what i said, it's nearly impossible to beat him at the beginning of the game, there's too much difference at strenght ! And you are right to not became a total nolife by playing day and night just to obtain good cards, even i as a pro gamer didn't do it, just several hours somee days per week, a long time ago.
Yeah I really wanted to beat it but never could get the strong enough cards. Now that I see CZcams videos of people just fusing weaker cards and using magic cards I realize that's basically the only way to beat it unless you literally play 24/7 for weeks obtaining stars and all

@@nathanaelaldred8885 You simply dont know how the game works. Just a bit of reasearch and you know how to get the S ranks.
You can get a guaranteed S-Rank if you deplete the opponents deck, well TEC clear. Or you could do the POW clear by reducing opponent's LP to 0 in 3 turns or less, not (attempt) fuse more than twice, and use max 1 spell/trap. Anything more and you won't get S-Rank (POW).

I played this game back in the 2001 and always relied on two headed dragon plus bright castle/dragon treasure to do whatever on the game. Then discovered the meteor dragon to fuse the meteor B dragon making things a bit easier... seeing Summoned Skull in this video which I didn't know it was fusable makes me want to time travel and insist my 13 yo me to try harder and dont hate fiend monsters. Great work dude gratz!

In the last sequence you have to defeat the labyrinth mage, Sebek, Neku, Heishing, Seto and the final boss who have a final form, one after another without losing. That's a total if 7 duels to win and the only good cards you can get on the game are the Meteor B. Dragon, Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon and equipments for them and Raigeki. I basically had to be discard all my hand to find Meteor B. Dragon, a Megamorph and a Bright Castle or a Dragon Treasure...
MAN! That was hard... It was very pleasing though.
You can get Blue-eyes White Dragon, Metalzoa, Skull Knight, Zoa, Sanga of the Thunder, Kazejin, Suijin, Dark Magician, you can buy Seiyaryu, Twin-headed Thunder Dragon as a card, 3 Megamorphs, 3 Bright Castles, 3 Dark Energy's, 3 times Raigeki or Crush Card, Beast Fangs and Meteor B. Dragon. You will win any duel with those cards, unless you're very unlucky.

Wow.I didn’t know that you can get summoned skull from fusing job-change mirror and meda bat..I only had a rare chance of winning a summoned skull from the high mages later in the game . you are really a pro,dude ;)
congratulations , you was in my suggestions and actually i do the same challenge (except i used password for a jirai gumo and a thunder dragon but i will remove them for Heishin xD ) and my deck have not "reigeki" for the handicap x)
