Zhou Shen's such a great great artist! He overcame a lot of difficulties before he could get his stage and popularity now. Memory is quite a reflection of his past when he faced loneliness and eagered for being accepted. As always, his singing can melt our hearts.

Sofia&Sonia just to let you know, Zhou Shen wrote the Mandarin verse too. He’s incredibly talented. I was totally moved to tears when I heard the song the first time. That verse was just so touching, coming straight from his heart. As you said he used his voice to project his emotions so subtly that it pierced right through your nerves and heart. 💓. I was so addicted to his rendition of the song that I had to listen to it every day for like a few months! 😅😅

@Sofia&Sonia. So glad to come across your channel and watch your review of my idol! Memory was the third song of his I heard when I first got to know Zhou Shen. I was very surprised at his amazing yodel when I first saw a video of him singing “the lonely goatherd “ I searched to see what other English songs this lovely little Chinese boy could sing. I got hooked with Memory. But it was listening to his signature song “Big Fish” that sealed my love for him. Almost two and a half years now, I have never failed to tune in for his songs almost every day! Thanks so much for your lovely review! 🙏🙏🙏. Zhou Shen has too many songs I love so having difficulties recommending anyone 🤪🥰 please do all. 🤪😅. A tall request 😉😅🤣🤣🤣but I strongly believe you’ll be doing more of Zhou Shen’s as you move on! yes, you are right that zhou shen will not use extra singing technique to sing a song but use only the necessary ones.
That is why we can feel the innocence, purity and honesty of his singing.

As Zhou Shen said before, all his singing techniques are to serve for the song but not for show off.
The two songs that you have chosen are very classic. Zhou Shen has quite a diversity. In you next reactions, perhaps you want to try something different. Might I suggest "Da La Beng Ba" and "Ring the doorbell" to see a completely different side of his singing abilities?

Zhou Shen likes to add Bel Canto into his song,for ex. "Baby До свидания" He covered "Think of me","My heart will go on" and "Champions" are very outstanding. His voice is really beautiful.The following video is that Zhou Shen was asked to sing "Big Fish" without music by on-site staff after he Recording program. Want to summarize in English what I previously posted in Chinese to facilitate understanding by overseas viewers that could not read/understand Chinese.
In live chat with his fans, and later in interviews with newspapaers/magazines, Zhou Shen disclosed that in the Chinese part of his version of 《Memory》, he had changed/rewritten some of words/phrases from the original lyrics of the Chinese version of 《Memory》 , i.e. why people will not find those Chinese lyrics that he rewrote/changed in the authenic Chinese version of 《Memory》.
In later interviews with newspapers/magazines, Zhou Shen opened up on his psychological journey of rewritting/changing those lyrics. He said he originally rewrote those lyrics from the perspective of Grizabella , but then in the process, he discovered Grizabella resembled himself. Many people later thought the lyrics he wrote was about himself. Zhou Shen admitted that he wrote those lyrics about Grizabella and himself as well as for others who seeked to be accepted and understood by peers/others.
He said he cried everytime he sang this song《Memory》as he immersed/substituted himslef into Grizabella, who seeked to return to/accepted by her ethnical groups, but rejected. He said Grizabella's situation is very similar to the environment/circumstances that he grew up. It was about his voice; people nowadays might say he has a great voice, but in the past, majority thought it was weird.So he grew up always had this feeling of not being accpted. So he has been seeking for an opportunity to be accepted. All through his singing career since his debut, he found it much harder and both energy and time-consuming as compared to other peers in the industry; he thought that was why he needed an extra process/much longer time to be accepted by the general audience, and it was like Grizabella in the musical "Cats": she stretched out her hand, but not sure if her peers or anyone else would respond to her.

2. 周深曾在一个杂志访问中说过他在改该段中文歌词时的心理历程：
Q：最后填写的那段中文词是在写自己吗？
A: 最后填的那段中文词,我是站在主角魅力猫的角度去写的，但后面写着写着反而发现越来越像我，所以很多人觉得我是在写自己。我的确是在写自己，但也是在写魅力猫。其实也不仅仅是我了，很多人在很多时候都需要别人的接纳或者理解。
3. 在一个采访里，周深曾说过他每次唱MEMORY都会哭，因为他会代入了歌剧《CATS猫》主角魅力猫《 Grizabella 》，想回归族群，想被接纳，但被拒绝的心境。
新闻晨报：上期节目唱的是音乐剧《猫》的主题曲《Memory》，这首歌对你有什么意义么？
周深：这首歌我几乎每次唱都会哭，是魅力猫想要回归族群，被拒绝后演唱的一首歌。这和我小时候的成长环境有点像，因为我的声音……说好听是特色，不好听就是奇怪，我从小到大一直都有被排斥的感觉，所以我一直都在寻求一个被接纳的机会，这首歌其实很符合我的心境。
