- This model kit doesn't quite replace the Hasbro Black Series version, but that doesn't mean it's not any less awesome than previous Bandai Star Wars kits.

I freaked out when I realized that this was a MODEL KIT!
The model kit troopers blow all the other versions away.
Man I love bandai model kits. Really nice figures
man, the shrugging and segmented look of the shoulders kills me. everything else is ace though.
BTW, keep up the great work, your reviews are probably some of the best advertising for these kits on the internet....Bandai should subsidize you, if they don't already :D
Haha, thanks! Yeah, I spend a lot of money on the kits but it's totally worth. Not that I would scoff at Bandai contacting me, heh.
my absolute favorite Star Wars character
Its not a character
So the Biker Scout is not a character ? Shut up
Before you act like a raging idiot think about it. He's not really a character but a specific armour type.
Oh mate, do one
..it's a "character".
I love the personalization aspect of the model kits-- you can make little tweaks to the build as you go, or paint them in custom ways, etc. The only thing I don't like about the model kits vs. a figure is the lack of weight. I've been playing with filling the pieces with super sculpy as I build, and that can give the thing a nice, heavy, solid feel-- but you have to be careful not to put it on a joint and seize the thing up, lol.
Exactly, it took me forever to get used to the weight after so many years of messing with traditional action figures.
in the movie , the sound of the speeder bike is ever great ; thanks you mister Ben Burt ; the sound wizar 👍
Can't wait for someone to do a stop motion picture with these characters
Haha I love your dry sense of humour
+H4NDCRAFTED Heh, thanks man. Sometimes when I'm building I get bored and have to amuse myself.
you can remove that little piece that you thought you damage (Gun laser part # C-29) it just a ejector mold expansion just remove it. great review of this model/figure.
+THEEND123321 Thanks! Yeah, a lot of people pointed that out to me, kind of embarrassing. I don't think that piece was attached to the sprue tree originally so it just came off with the gun, and then I just assumed it was part of the gun without looking too closely.
pretty cool, they were very similar, i think the hasbro black series figures r some of the best things hasbro does hard to pick a favorite between these 2 though
Your the best, man! Super helpful and always entertaining.
Awesome review!
Helps a lot with budget planning.... thanx!
ArTwo DeeTwo Thanks, I appreciate it!
This one looks amazing
un de mes véhicules préférés de toute la saga, les scènes restent toujours aussi géniales , 40 ans après 😎👍
Thanks for this video. I've been thinking of getting this kit. I now know what I must do.😆
You must go out and get it! I've been thinking of a second. I don't have room for another bike but need another Biker Scout. Badly.
Nice
I hope you've had a go at putting on water slide decals, they blend in sooooo naturally and really look better than stickers
Just get some Mr Mark Softener solution to paint onto the decal when you put it in place on a curved surface or over raised details, it will help mold it to the surface better and makes it look like its painted on - well worth the effort
Since this I have had a lot more experience with waterslides, soooooo much better. I still suck at putting them on curves or corners, still need more practice.
Just caught your vids. Great reviews! A little tip when applying stickers, use a toothpick to form the sticker into all the nooks and crannies 😉
Yeah, the Star Wars models are my first models so it's been a learning experience, getting a little bit better and easier with each one. Love it though, and thanks!
I mentioned it in another video, but I still suggest using clear nail polish as a clear coat over the stickers to keep them down on the curved surfaces (that is, unless you used the waterslides).
I'll have to give that a shot, especially on my Scarid Shoretroopers. Lots of curves there.
I have to agree with you on the shoulder pads
this is a nice kit, would make for a good diorama, but not worth $200 aud at all, maybe it was less at release but now it would be easier and cheaper to scratch build one
Are these easy to build and are they durable? I've never bought one of these and I've been thinking of getting one.
Fairly easy to build if you take your time and follow the steps. And quite durable, although you don't want to get as forceful as you would with a standard plastic action figure. These don't have that give that the usual softer plastic gives you. But I've never had a breakage problem other than the wire on Boba Fett's right arm.
@@TheFwoosh my r2 has the 6 blue things on top class fall of
Hey ! Great video, I got one myself because of you :)
What paint do you use ? I don't quite like the fact that it's all the same colour on the bike so i'm gonna try and paint detail
Now if the Black Series could incorporate butterfly shoulders and hips, along with double jointed elbows, that'd make them the best for the money. So far though, I think Bandai's S.H. figuarts version takes the cake. Very detailed and full articulation. The price is it's only limiting factor.
NightFury The Black Series do have double jointed elbows.
Actually I think the price is great for what they are and the hours of fun you get building them. Sure, if you want to paint them and make them as movie accurate as possible, that will drive up the cost, but all in all, those Bandai kits are very decently priced.
what would you pick between the details and features on the figuarts speeder bike, as opposed to the detail and on this Bandai M.K thing
I actually don't have the Figuarts Speeder, didn't want to swing the price for what looked like what I already had with this model and then the Black Series. Plus the bike eats a lot of display space, didn't need three.
Looks good man! Im hoping Bandai get permission to do the first order troopers too.
Oh, definitely, that would he sweet!
Just wondering... can the scout trooper's trigger finger hand fit with the Stormtrooper's rifle?
NIce...I am hoping Hasbro does stuff like Luke and so on....I know armor troops are easier but would be nice to attempt other things like Boba....
Mark M Do you mean Bandai doing Luke? If so, I agree, I'd like to see that. And they've already shown a prototype for Boba Fett, so he is on the way.
Sorry I said Hasbro....I mean Bandai. Thanks for correcting me and not embarrassing me over that slip.
I am a regular poster on Fwoosh and appreciate your response.
I purchased Darth and Storm, and plan on getting this. Fett is next on my list, but would love if Bandai showed off model kits for non armor guys.
Hi, I just found your channel, I was looking for a review of this model (I just discover this line) I love scout troopers and I'm thinking of get this model but I do not paint so probably I'll put the stickers, so do you think is worth buy it?
Thanks
***** Oh, definitely worth it if you don't have the Black Series Speeder. If you do have that, you can probably get away with skipping this one, as much as that hurts me to say.
do you think if they made model kits of luke or more characters with faces that youd buy them?
I probably would, even if I had to do a lot of paint work to them. Well, as long as the face sculpts were good.
I might get one to go with mando
which would you rather recommend?
this one or the black series one
+TheJAZGaming I feel that both are pretty great, it just depends on what you prefer. I like the model Trooper better, but the Hasbro bike is more sturdy. I think at the end of the day I'd go with the model kit.
Do they have good articulation?
dang, I woulda liked to see this as a stand alone figure without the speeder as well. id put it on a 1:12 motorcycle kit
+Mad Cow Rebel Same here. The speeder takes up a lot of room on the shelf so I'm good with one or two, but I'd love to have four or five troopers.
Mad Cow Rebel do you watch andys hobby headquarters?
Great videos I dint even know these kits existed, we're can I get them? Thanks in advance
Subscribed looking forward to more kits 👍👍👍👍👍👍
maxpicture777 THey are available on Amazon and most overseas online retailers. Fairly easy to get. Thanks!
Cool thanks 👍👍👍
Don't be afraid! Slap down some Micro Set, spend a LOT less time setting the decal, wait until it dries and then flop some Micro Sol over it. Looks painted on and conforms to all the details that Bandai throws in.
What is Micro set?
It's a solution that helps water decals adhere to the model. It helps form the decal over raised and/or recessed areas. The Micro Sol, used after the decal has dried, weakens and thins the decal, giving it a painted-on look.
I’m curious on how is this has stand the test of time? I have a hasbro one and I’m thinking getting another but it has gone up in price and the MK is like half’ the price 🤔
It won't hold up to heavy play but mine has been in the display since I built it and no problems. I still like the trooper here more than the Black Series.
The Fwoosh thank you good sir!!! BTW you’ve hold up quite well over time ... one night say you’re like wine ... getting better over time!
Thanks for the quick response 🤘🏻
I glued the flap piston on
cool figure
Super design
Im planning on getting one too alter a bit to make a elite storm commando with a black bike so i would appreciate some tips on how to make a ammo pouch like the arv troopers have on their chest
It'd probably be easier to find an existing one. Would the ones of the Sandtrooper work? Or the upcoming Captain Rex?
yeah thanks, I'm probably going to incorporate red in some ways like that storm commando general from a comic pack I had as a kid cant remember the character for the life of me with more of a snipers theme to it to make it into a whole new character mabby with a shiny red-colored visor to give it a more menacing apperence I was also going to try and add a rack for a sniper rifle onto the speeder no idea how tho ill have to find a rifle first but it'll be cool when I finally get it done
Is there a way to have the bike pointed towards the right, instead of left? I have a perfect spot for him, but I would need the stand to be flipped around. Does that make sense?
Yup, that makes sense but no, you can only plug in on the right side so it always has to face that way. There isn't holes on the other side.
+The Fwoosh Ugh, that really sucks. I already ordered, guess I'll have to figure out something. Lol. Thanks man.
The Fwoosh I wonder if there is another stand that could be used?
Hey does anyone know what the seperate stand for the bottom is?
Nice kit, how much is the cost, and how can I get one, and other like it
Amaon: "basic tool set"
*amazon
hey should i get the Star Wars 1/12 Scale Model Kit - Boba Fett and the Star Wars 1/12 Scale Model Kit - Stormtrooper or should i just buy this speeder one. the speeder one cost the amount of the other two ones
I love the Boba Fett and Stormtrooper. With the Speder/Scout combo I actually kind of prefer the Black Series. Get Fett and the Stormtrooper.
ok
Does he come with a scout blaster or pistol grip hands? (I would assume no, but I'm just making sure)
It comes with the blaster and the hand to hold it. On the models the grip hand clips around the pistol grip so I usually leave the hand on the weapon. It also goes in the boot holster.
The Fwoosh Alright sweet. I'm going to get this one then. I just noticed he's holding the blaster in the thumbnail so I guess the question was pointless 😂 😂
Zephyr Haha, I kind of thought it was there but it's been so long since this review that I didn't remember if I actually mentioned it in the video.
The Fwoosh that piece on the gun you thought you broke is a sprue part your meant to cut off lol :)
Nice review. How much was he compared to the normal figures?
loganOO1 If you check ebay they are all at or below what the black series prices would be, well worth the money.
Seriously? Bwahaha, that's what I get for building at 2am. Gotta fix that when I get home today. Thanks for the heads-up!
The Fwoosh haha, yeh I'm 99% sure buddy. You get them on Gundams sometimes and can be confusing!
Nice review btw
Oops I said nice review already :S
loganOO1 And I missed your price question. It's running about twice the price of the droids. Around $45 shipped. Thanks again, man!
Just ordered my SH Figuarts Speeder Bike as it's finally out. Next stop... Mace Windu, but a little confused over the First Order Stormtrooper release dates?
+venger78 Do you mean the trooper with the shield and baton? He's a web exclusive so he's a little bit harder to get. He is due out in May though.
That's the one. Also the trooper with the big ass laser gun :-D
***** The heavy gunner trooper is also a web exclusive, due out in August. Don't know why they are now making trooper exclusives, maybe they didn't like the sale of the first, plain FO Trooper?
Finally got my SH Figuarts Scout Trooper today and an email advising Mace is in the mail!
Damn, Hasbros trooper and bike are wayyy better.
I would swap out the helmets and itd be perfect
Does anyone know if the Bandai kit is robust enough to sit the Mafex IG-11 on?
Not too much weight to the MAFEX IG-11, should be fine.
@@TheFwoosh Amazing, thank you for the reply!
i'm pretty sure the proper character in the movie has more of a poster tube behind them
I wish that they would make a model rebel trooper
I'm still unsure that they will ever do a model with human features. Just too much paint and detail needed to make it look right. But I do need a Rebel trooper...
Ha Ha, "drive it into a tree or something.."
I figure it would be best to paint the under suit either flat black or semi gloss the plastic is just too glossy.
+Michael Mitchell Yup. I wish I had done that to my Vader.
The Fwoosh
At least it would be easier for the Scout trooper with the lack of armor plates on the arms and legs. But I think the armor itself could use a coat of semi gloss to show used armor but leave it unpainted for new armor.
Is scout trooper is 3.75 inch?
Nope, 6 inch.
the seam line on the shin guard really bugs me out though
+Maulana A. Maksudi Yeah, it doesn't have a great place for a break there like the regular Stormtrooper.
a simple way to add detail is to get a gundam marker and line all the grooves in like his helmet and armor pieces. its called panel lining it really makes a kit pop and its super easy.
also if you enjoy building these models and want to try something more challenging try a master grade. they're mostly gundams but bandai does offer a few other options. i know you're probably not into giant Japanese robots but the models themselves are very intricate and detailed.
+Matthew Bliss I've seen a lot of panel lining on kits but I want these to fit in with the rest of my Star Wars figures like Black Series and Figuarts, so I didn't want to get too intricate with the detailing.
I have done a lot of looking at the Gundam kits and they look awesome, but finding the time to build them in the middle of this huge Star Wars rush is tough, not to mention finding space for them, haha.
The handles on the belt is a grenade
i use a needle to place stickers
do you have to use super glue with bandai models?
Nope, no glue necessary.
thanks :)
Price difference and availability
How well can it hit a baby Yoda? Asking for a friend
The model kit speeder bike looks fragile... though it's great to repaint the speeder bike into whatever I want...
+Marcohazard It's a little thin in places, but I haven't had any problems.
link please?
Link to what?
You might be getting a little biased as you build. I am settled into buying the bandai kits but in this case the black series is a wee bit better.
It's been a while but I do think I say I like the Black Series set on the speeder better than the model, but I like the model figure standing without the speeder better.
and speeder bike olso
you must paint colours to the figure ?
+Rama Pranawa On most of these Star Wars kits, only when you want to weather it. I do it every now and then instead of stickers just because it's easier. But on a kit like Boba Fett, you have to paint on all the scuffs and dings and dirt.
I love these Bandai models... but sadly ,no thanks to the company Revell, they are no longer allowed to import Star Wars ANYTHING into the U.S. , cause Revells corporate office whined to Disney . Now if you want one, ya have to go thru a private source, not a retail business.
beello
looks like a hot toys
Noooo I want this scout trooper, i ordered 2 stormtroopers a shoretrooper and vader, but i need this and the sandtrooper and a death trooper to complete my imperial army !!!
Haha. If don't like don't build. :-)
+Zero Sum How do I know I don't like if I don't build? And I do like, just have a couple of nits with it.
These 'kits' seem to be no more than unassembled action figures.
I suspect that this is how they arrive at the sweat shop where they are assembled for marketing as action figures, the way Bandai have done this is very clever, they actually get the customer to assemble them thus cutting out the expense of paying 500 Chinese orphans to build them.
Probably charge more for the fun of assembly too.
I as a model builder do not consider these to be model kits, they are unassembled toys.
Standard action figures are nothing like these, made of other materials and assembled completely different. Solid plastic pieces that aren't supposed to be pulled back apart but they can be with a little heat and force. I've taken many apart. They are nothing like these kits.
I as an action figure collector do not consider these to be standard action figures, they are figure models.
