  • Some may say I'm a bit biased when it comes to the Bandai Star Wars 1:12 scale model kits. Great models, great action figures. This review may change your mind though. I like the Sandtrooper, but I don't love him.

    Got this today to try these out and aside from a loose belt piece and the stubborn headband it is great overall. Also the price was good cheaper than black series here in Japan and the store had tons of these.

    Thanks for the video. Think I like the Black Series Sandie better, but love the stand on the model kit.
    Sad that licensing is going to make these harder to get in the states.

  • @yokaicustoms

    This kit arrived today and I put it together. I thought this was a more enjoyable build than the death trooper or Phasma. The white plastic is a little more forgiving as it doesn't show blemishes as easily. I love the stand.
    Really weird seeing a totally clean sandtrooper. Gonna have to dirty him up. The stickers worked out really well for me, I was able to get perfect placement. Even the little blue lines on the helmet look really good.
    I picked this up specifically to have a black pauldron sandtrooper to go with my black series orange and white so I was able to (thankfully) avoid the pauldron decal/sticker.
    I wish it had a macrobinocular accessory.

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 7 lety +2

      Yeah, but the different options to build the pack is pretty sweet and has a lot of little bits and bobs, I can see why they skipped the macrobinoculars. I actually like the helmet and neck on this one more than the original Stormtrooper kit. So much so I've switched those parts out to make the troopers better.

      CreditNoDehbit There is more differences. The ab plate buttons are missing in the center and on the left side, they are unpainted. The sniper knee plate has a different shape. No black lines on the gray spots on the trapezoids and “teardrops” on the helmet. No vaccuformed ribbed straps that were added over the shoulder of the stormtrooper armor to help hide the connection. No drop boxes on the belt. And finally no cylinder(thermal detonator). The main problem is I heard it is very difficult to build, and since the only model kit I have assembled so far is the darth vader, I fear it may be too advanced for me. +Scale Model Kit Review I'm not sure, as I don't remember how exactly the original Stormtrooper's band went in. I think the black piece is new, without as heavy a ridge and allows for movement on the side pegs. I don't like how the band drops down over the eyes when low but I like that it can be adjusted up a bit for kind of a different look.

      They are U.S./UK Company's shipping from Japan. They won't be able to do that from now on. Plus customs will be able to confrecate items under the trade laws. I believe the agreed date is the 20th of September.

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 9 lety

      +Jay Occhiogrosso Yeah, parties on Amazon are still selling the older kits, but the upcoming kits after Boba Fett may be harder to get. Bandai's original contract restricts the sale of the kits to the Japanese market only and they recently started enforcing that clause, telling import shops that they can't be sold to other regions. Sites like Amiami have already pulled all of their kits, and HLJ will be pulling theirs on the 20th.

    Those black pouches are on the wrong way ;)
    The one with the extra pouch goes on his shoulder :)

      +Sir Stefan Channel! Thanks for the heads up. Those two are interchangeable so I just picked what I grabbed first, haha.

      The Fwoosh no problem! I'm quite the Star Wars nerd so it stood out like a sore thumb to me haha!
      As a direct result of your videos I've purchased this and the First Order Stormtrooper. (the FO came today, got it built. Looks even better in person)

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 8 lety +1

      Sir Stefan Channel! I've warmed up more to the FO Trooper since having it for a while. At first the high shoulders and low helmet bugged me, but I realized I was comparing it to the Hasbro version instead of the actual movie version. Since, I think it's the most accurate out of all the troopers we've gotten from TFA. Glad you dig the models, they are a ton of fun!

    • @angrysmerf
      @angrysmerf Před 8 lety +1

      The Fwoosh Yeah I wasn't a fan of the high shoulder pads. The helmet didn't really bother me too much as the height of the trooper helmet really varies in the movie, like you said (sort of)
      but if you pose him just right you can mask the high shoulder pads.
      Can't wait for the Phasma release! It's a higher price though, but seems entirely worth it!
      And the shadow trooper!
      Dammit, I've got another addiction haha!

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 8 lety

      +Sir Stefan Channel! The Phasma is higher because of the chrome finish, 3po was the same with the gold. Did you find a good price on the Shadowtrooper? It's exclusive so it's higher too, would love to find another for a set. Both are awesome looking though, can't wait.

    Which would you recommend this or the stormtrooper model kit

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 7 lety +1

      Both kits are amazing, but I like the Sandtrooper a little more. The helmet has the movable band above the eyes and the neck is a little longer to make it look more proportionate. I don't really care for the backpack and ammo pouch but the trooper itself is awesome.

      The Fwoosh thanks for the quick reply i got an amazon card burning a hole in my pocket and was between the two troopers

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 7 lety +1

      To be honest I actually mixed the head on my Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper. There are differences in the actual armors so to give my classic Stormtrooper the best look I gave it the longer neck and better helmet from the Sandtrooper. But that's getting into expensive territory, haha. I still love both kits though.

      The Fwoosh yea i looked at both and both look really good, and i gotta say thank you for getting me back into collecting figures i was starting to think i was too old for this stuff and needed to focus on school and work but seeing your channel made me realize your never to old to be a kid

      That was the plan until I decided t keep them as shiny Death Star troopers.

    Hi guys - I am building this kit now. I managed to snap the collar piece that fits just above his right knee. Still not sure how to properly snap this sucker into place. Two questions: one, any recommendations on a glue to repair? Secondly, did anyone else have trouble with this part? Any tips to share?
    I was planning to buy this glue to try to repair. www.amazon.com/Tamiya-87038-Extra-Thin-Cement/dp/B000BMYWYC/ref=pd_sim_21_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0N44XN35P83PZTX72BWF&dpID=41RTPPe6bfL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_

    just built one of these guys and put em right back in the box. so super disappointed in the cheep look and feel; what's up with that black visor sitting way too low, the waist belt is super huge as well as his knee belt and those pee-wee herman shoes?!? he looks pretty ridiculous with no neck and his whole head/shoulders/upper chest area is just off. very difficult to find a natural human pose for this thing. first and last model kit storm trooper for me. the water decals were easy enough to apply. kudos if you like these kits, but to me they look like they were designed in auto-cad or auto-desk using a lot of mirroring. the model kit's a brilliant idea but bandi could really use some consulting with talented sculptors for these. glad I only spent 20 bucks on it!!

  • @gabrielp5011
    @gabrielp5011 Před 5 lety

    well the Bandai figures are made to be displayed because they are models....on the other hand the Black series figures are toys....It comes down how accurate the kit to the original...not how flexible it is...The original movie stormtrooper did not give you any flexibility either:)Try to wear the suit...so lets deside..Want to play or display ??Nice vid tho

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  Před 5 lety

      I've tried on the suit, and geared up a lot of guys that wear the suit more often, so I realize the range, haha. I'll keep on displaying AND playing!

Another good video thou. Thanks for doing these. Are you able to get Boba Fett?? HLJ are only selling one per customer.

      +Stomping Freak You know I thought of you as soon as I said screw it, I'm going with the stickers again, haha! I'll keep an eye out for your guide, definitely. I pre-ordered Fett on Amiami the day it went up, they still haven't canceled it so I should be good to go.

      Really can't understand why Disney would do this. Like I said, you put those rubbish stickers on so well, Decals should be a simple. Oh well. Lol
