Happy Kangaroo Cuddle Day, dedicated to demonstrating the power of human touch!
Kangaroo cuddle chairs help support breastfeeding, the bond between parent and baby, building confidence, and are proven to decrease time spent in hospital.
They are more than just a chair. They are a crucial piece of equipment for any specialist neonatal intensive care unit, such as ours in Southampton, funded by Southampton Hospitals Charity.
Newborns, particularly premature babies, are fragile, surrounded by medical equipment, and parents tend to be more anxious when handling them.
These specialist chairs promote skin-to-skin contact, helping parents to bond with their baby.
