I'll bet someone at Nike can design a shoe for you that is reinforced to resist the unique wear pattern caused by the way you walk. Come on, Nike, step up!

look into what skateboarders use for excessive wear in that same area., they go through shoes quickly too. and wear out in the same general area. they add rubber material there that extends the life of the shoe

I really love the timing of this, I was recently considering orthopedic shoes for my seemingly large webby feet. I'm typically somewhere between a Men USA12 and 14'
I also have mild rheumatoid arthritis on both of my feet. It's only been progressing the last couple of years.
If I had the money to spend I'd recommend ASICS. They are some of the most cleverly designed shoes I've ever slipped my foot in..

I like the idea of the Velcro mechanism for shoes. I currently own a pair of SAS shoes with Velcro. I understand your reason for not wanting to spend a lot on shoes. I spend a lot on shoes mainly because I’m on my feet a lot and so I try to get good quality shoes. I try to buy American made shoes when I can afford it.

I have MD and I've found training shoes to be the best for me. But, I have the same problem with "foot drop." I can't find shoes with a good toe. So, I started wearing military boots designed like shoes. They protect my ankle when I fall, and it removes the foot drop. But it's kinda hard to wear shorts. No one needs to see my chicken legs anyway. 😂
Glad to see you back "Smiles". ❤

I'd give Keens a chance. They're a little wider in the toe box, so a bit more stable too. They have a rubber front edge that covers where your wear point is. They also have full-time sandals as well.

Hi, thank you for sharing, I really enjoy your videos. I used to be a cobbler at a shoe repair shop. I would work on shoes like that. We would glue in a harder piece of rubber grind it to shape and paint to match. Consider bringing some of the more expensive shoes to a local shoe repair shop and see what they can do. ✌️

  • @samueladams3746
    @samueladams3746 Před 11 měsíci +1

Yeah, that’s a PITA. Too bad you are in FL, Blundstone pull ons wear like iron on the soles and toe boxes. But more for northern climes. Had similar problem with firefighting boots back in the day. Contrary to popular belief you spend a lot of time crawling and once then rubber on the toe wears through, they have to go out of service. Finally bought leather ones with square toes. Good luck!

  • @ChristopherBix2
    @ChristopherBix2 Před 11 měsíci

Like others, my first thought was to possibly add a cap or guard made of hard plastic that would slide fairly easily but be very durable. Might not be stylish, but could be glued on or made to work with some. It would at least extend the time before wear out.
I suppose there are custom shoes available.
for certain wear patterns, but if so, I’m sure they might be prohibitively expensive.
Hope maybe this gets the the attention of some major shoe makers. Heck, they should make a Chelsea Bear signature line! Like Air Jordan’s. 😊

Chelsea, you are an amazing young lady.
The whole time you were going iver your shoe types and brands, iwas thinking. You should explore contacting the different shoe manufacturers and see if they would be interested in a collaborative effort to design a shoe for folks with the challenges you face.
I would pray that at least one manufacturer would see the benefits of helping challenged individuals.
I have told you that you should be the ambassador for the CP community, this might be your chance.
I have faith in you. Anyone that has faced the challenges you have, and still continue smiling, and putting yourself out there the way you do.
God bless you young lady for all your doing and i pray he will help you in the ways you need.

I am also disabled with CP.. I have difficulty walking. but find I do much better walking in grass, because I know if I fall in grass it won't hurt...
Also the big benefit of walking in grass, is that it is un-level ground, which will train your muscles to adapt to varying conditions..
(Same training effect as football players running through a set of car tires)

I suffer the same problem I shred shoes on the front too.
I tend to buy expensive shoes as I tend to get an extra month out of them, whereas if I buy cheaper ones they last a month flat.
It would be nice if shoe companies could innovate a grippy yet hard wearing sole.
I tend to wear skateboard shoes as they take a bit of stick. Etnies or DC tend to be my go to brands.

New Balance Tennis shoes not the running shoes are quite comfortable and quite durable. I kinda drag one of my feet and constantly kick things with it. The front of them are thicker and they seem to last me longer. The inner sole has a nice cushion for support and it takes some of the pressure off my back. There usually not bright colors but I'll take plain over struggling anyday. You might want to take a look at them. Maybe they could help you a little.

Chelsea, I know this is going to sound like coming from way out from left field, but have you tried Crocs? Like you, I can't wear scandals because of my heels want to slide out sideways and I drag my toes too. But...recently I have discovered that I can wear Crocs with the strap being in right position (rotated back to the heel). Crocs' heels are so sunken in that they keep my heels inside. And...they are surprisingly comfortable. I know what you mean by shoes being expensive. I broke my good foot (one that carries most of my weight) twice in one year so my doctor told me to start buying new shoes every 3 months. And...at the time she commended New Balance (being the best) and Nike (coming in as 2nd best). I always went with medium price range (about $65). It adds up. My current doctor just says the quality of shoes have all come together so just get what comfortable to you. Knowing some one (luckily, because they are $$$) who gets a huge discount for Hokas, I tried them and they last a lot longer with their thick soles.

The thumb toe sides also are high likely to rip because I'm a little pigeon toed.

Perhaps a cobbler can help you reinforce your new shoes with a rubber coating, where you tend to wear the holes. For example manual laborers often put rubber caps over the toes of their work boots...some boots even come that way. You would want to take your sneakers to the cobbler, before the hole is worn in the toe.

Have you considered skateboard shoes? I know that companies like DC makes shoes that look very similar to what you’d get from Nike or other popular big name brands but they’re made with reinforced toe caps, specifically designed to increase the life of the toe in dealing with it sliding on grip tape which will destroy regular shoes in a few days. May not be your style but I think it would be something to look into.

You buy cheap shoes because they wear holes. Right.
    But they’re cheap.
Hope you haven’t discarded the shoes…well, you have this vid. But you can make photos of the trouble spots and have the photos for a consultant.
Here's my deal…what can you do for me?
We need engineers. Who work with shoemakers. Who have interest in the solutions.
Work with a prevention aspect. Use household items to reinforce the trouble spot before it’s trouble. Gorilla tape is the answer. It’ll leave a residue, so use blue painters tape first, and the gorilla tape over it.
It might be a decal that would effectively deflect the impact. Rubberized shelf paper cut to fit the footbed of my shoe works. There’s a heel lift type insert, peel back layers to customize. It keeps the foot from slipping inside the shoe.
You need another mindset…cost is irrelevant. Medical deduction to meet a handicap. You can buy clothing in a thrift store…spend that saving on shoes.
Protect your investment with preventative measures.
An old world shoe repairman will have advice. They have little patch levelers that could be used.
Maybe inside, maybe outside. Make it removable, moisture resistant and washable. Don’t mess up your investment, try things that can be used that don’t leave a residue.
Make a pattern or template. Old worn shoe…get good pictures, slice the shoe to make a pathology report.
We need to get the deadwood out of Congress. We need manufacturers to make form fitting shoes. Legislate a requirement.
They won’t do it on their own, obviously. Why are manufacturers ignoring this market? 3D printing is available. Make them do it.
In my county……builders will do a certain number of affordable units…or they don’t build. It’s required.
Shoe manufacturers are not meeting us halfway. Billions of dollars in injuries because shoes don’t compensate for the users gait. Injuries and deaths.
Yet it’s possible to buy everything from rain slickers to Halloween costumes for the family dog.
With the Biden plan, there’s money for small business. Computer chips will be made here.
That bad spot on your shoe should be put to work…innovate the way to modify.
We need to get mad. Being heartbroken from the frustration hasn’t worked for me.

Looking at the comments…we can’t find shoes because they don’t make 'em because people won’t pay that much.
Make Medicare cover…they’ll fall all over themselves…😂😂😂😂😂
