Facts. I said recently and stand by it:
You could have rebooted WCW with Bischoff producing, Russo, Sullivan, Raven and Heyman writing creative, Jim Ross doing talent acquisition, Scott Hall and Jake Roberts helping with character development and you still weren't going to turn WCW around.
Wrestling was peaked and tapped out, the market was oversaturated by 1999 and there was nowhere to go but down for several years.
WCW wasn't doomed until Jamie Kellner (on behalf of AOL Time Warner) decided it was in March 2001. At that time they were getting higher ratings than what Raw and Dynamite are today in 2023. The now renamed Warner Bros Discovery admitted their mistake when they put AEW on TNT & TBS.

For me, as a mark for the Outsiders, my favorite part of this ppv in 99 was them jumping Goldberg in the entrance aisle. Scott hadn't been on tv in like 6 months or so and seeing the band back together got me so hyped, I could overlook a lot of bad about WCW at the time.

WCW's PPVs are worth talking for three hours about. On the other hand, you could cover WWE's modern PPVs in about 3 minutes (did I just hear myself say 3 minutes??). Make that 3 seconds. "Cena/Lesnar/Roman wins again. The end."

I hated that Bischoff joined Russo on TV. I wanted Russo and Bischoff to be the power struggle. 1 face, 1 heel. I hated that all the young guys were heels and all the old guys were babyfaces. I hated that Hogan’s yellow and red was taken away and he was put in a black shirt and black jeans. I hated that Flair wrestled in trousers and a t-shirt. And I was so excited to see where WCW went with Bischoff and Russo running creative. I loved WCW. I miss it so much. I also miss how much better WWE was when WCW were chasing their arses.
Yes it was stupid. Would made more sense when Bischoff were on the Legends side. Why should Bischoff hate his own boys suddenly? And yes the young guys had to be the faces. But with Russo as a face? Nooooo haha. That’s not possible. I never liked Russo as an on screen figure. Eric was great as the heel boss. He did it before Vince McMahon did it and the slimey Easy E persona was so much fun. But Russo on screen was just a wannabe cool and angry loud idiot. Just screaming and f-words.

But that wasn’t mainstream. Yeah, Eric Bischoff was just great. As an Executive Producer and Creative Head for WCW, and as an onscreen heel corrupt boss. Always loved Bischoff. For real and as a character. The only person to ever beat Vince McMahon at his own game. I can’t understand why WCW ever let him go. And I can’t understand why WWE wouldn’t want him on their creative. I know I would.

I remember me and my dad watched this Pay-Per-View when I was 18 years old back in 1999... unfortunately and fortunately we had the illegal black box, so we can watch any Pay-Per-Views, for free or any pro wrestling Pay-Per-View for free until 2004, but my dad was at risk of jail time if he got caught but we never did...Thank God.
I remember being hyped for this Halloween Havoc because I wanted to see Sid Vicious vs Goldberg...and remember seeing how bloody it was...back then we didn't care about spot fest, Flips everywhere, kicking out finishers...we like seeing two believable realistic big men go toe to toe... remember pre-social media or CZcams or camera phones, so people didn't critique it or analyze it so much until social media came along...back then we still watched and enjoyed it... nowadays you have to meny marks with podcast acting like Dave Meltzer minions and critiquing and analyzing the shit out of every match....Pro wrestling lost its edge and it's fun... because these marks really spoiled it for us, to meny are never satisfied, they all follow the same hate train, and they all are biased, all are expecting to much, and we once loved it for what it was... nobody cared about who did what to whom in the backstage area, or who got released, or who said what...pro wrestlers still had a mystique about them.
We didn't know anything about there personal lives, Kayfabe was still alive...they weren't being scrutinized like now ...they can take a shit and Sean Ross Sapp and Dave Meltzer, and WhatCulture, Cultoholic, Solomonster, pro wrestling unlimited, all these podcasts ect...all them Pro wrestling nerd podcast endlessly speak about it... it's like they follow the same shit and don't have there own identity or thought process.
They like you now and they will attack you later ...they were once kissing AEW's ass for years, now they criticize them and, now they love WWE...Before they went after WWE relentlessly, and said vile things about them, and praised AEW relentlessly, that's when I was thinking hmmm? there all on AEW pay roll...now it has switched a little...but mark my words, WWE does one thing wrong, they All don't like, ...it's WWE hate train here we come, and hash tag this ane hash tag that, and they become SJW's...they will follow eachother and say the same shit over and over endlessly...they're fickle like the marks watching...I say all because their alll on this crusade to say the same headlines and same shit...to attack one promotion and one wrestler...there is a reason Seth Rollins and Damien Priest are hesitant to do interviews and be fake to these peoples faces because they feel these people will turn on them and the company at any time and right now they are praising them...they know the fakery...they have this crazy cult...we must make Japanese and indie darling's into martyrs.
You can't be surprised and shocked anymore like you used to because of the spoilers they put out ...for once I don't wanna know who got released and who is going where ...let us be surprised to see someone make there debut or return.
You literally have to unsubscribe to all them pro wrestling podcasts, and anything related to pro wrestling on your phone, and watch pro wrestling like you did in 1998-1999, to joy it again, and I will tell you it works you feel like a teenager again and you can joy it without the mark fest opinions.
I liked pro wrestling in late 90s because it was fun ASF! We didn't have the toxic tribalism back them, wcw and WWE fans alike would watch together...back then we watched for different reasons...we were Causel fans.
We watched for the spectical, the theme songs, the hot chicks, and hardcore aspect, the long term storytelling, odd and interesting characters...we never cared who was a great wrestler from Japan or the indies...just because you had 500 five star matches doesn't mean the bigger masses/Causel fans will connect with them because it takes way more to be a pro wrestling star.
I just think social media...The CZcams pro wrestling world has taken the fun out of it.
The only thing I Watch are 83 weeks with Eric Bischoff, Mick Foley podcast, Kevin Nash podcast, and Bruce Pritchard podcast and that's it for nostalgia reason.
I have to say pro wrestling is better to watch with no pro wrestling podcast interference, no biased opinions, no Debbie downers, no spoilers, no who is going where, you feel like a Causel watcher again and you really are surprised and shocked again.
Wrestling would be fun to watch with out all the Pro wrestling podcast distractions...they act like WWE, AEW, TNA, NWA have to obey what they say and only appease there delusional bookings.
It was a exciting fun time to watch pro wrestling back in 1996-2001...we didn't care who did what and who botched what, who fucked up, and how long the match was...we didn't use wrestling terms or slang back then...that was still said amongst the pro wrestlers only.
Back then 30 million viewers watched pro wrestling and Causel fans watched...none wrestling fans watched because they were invested in the storytelling.
Now it's only fun again when you watch for yourself and don't let the pro wrestling side of social media scew your mind and radicalize you in to thinking Will Ospreay or Kenny Omega is the best thing since Slice bread ...when they are not! and not caring about some fake biased 5 star review...the only opinions that matter are the fans...all of them from all walks of Life...when they are invested, and on the edge of there seats, and a long term storyline wraps them in and casual fans start watching and you're selling out arenas everywhere...that's a 5 star and putting butts in seats, and selling out merchandise, you are more recognizable and even known to Sentinelese tribes, breaking Pay-Per-View buyrates..and fans are on there feet, and you have all walks of Life, Causel fans, none pro wrestling fans, know who you are then you are a real star ⭐and you are known mainstream....That's a 5 star, their fans loving the matches, people invested in a long term storyline that will culminate into a good match, people will cheer regardless of how good it is because those wrestlers are over, and and they've been invested for months & years in a storyline... that's a 5 star to them...so basically Dave Meltzer opinion has no real barring on business and pro wrestling success, and people can careless about his silly biased 5 star reviews only marks suck up to that shit not normal fans or Causel audience, lapsed fans, and new fans, which are the bigger and wider masses....they are the real needle mover's.
Nothing will ever come close to the 1980's big boom period, and late 90's era...nothing. it was such a special time, that I wish young kids today could've experienced.

Glad Bischoff said what he said about the whole heels/baby faces paradigm. I've always thought that the idea that "villains and heroes" don't matter any more was ridiculous. As Bischoff says, no other form of entertainment or storyline is like that.

Eric said there is no successful form of entertainment that doesn't have anyagonists and protagonists. What about exotic dancers? What about DJs? What about funny cat videos? Those are just a few examples.

If DDP thought of this promo on his own, then he should never have been allowed near a mike again. If Russo wrote this for him he should have taken a flame to that script and walked out. Good God that was one of the cringiest things I've ever heard, wrestling or otherwise.

Right, Eric. Russo as an on screen figure was awful. This wannabe cool loud guy just screaming the f-word the whole time. No substance behind the Charakter. Your character Easy E had a story. Easy E liked money and power and he liked to abuse his power to get his boys over. But what was Russos character? What was his motivation? He was suddenly there as the boss. There was some story …. Mjf was about to eclipse Kenny’s reign so Kenny wanted a shot at stopping that from occurring and came up short in an AEW title classic that surprisingly ended clean. The build was extremely short no argument there but there was absolutely a story.

Doubt you’ll see this but tell guy evans he owes a long overdue phone call. He hasn’t responded anytime I tried reaching out. His son went to school with my son in pre kindergarten and i was helping them out by watching his son for a few days so they were able to get ready to move to Florida from here in Brooklyn. He leaves here and he forgets the little people along the way. Very upsetting.

The honest truth? I think they all know it, just no one wants to admit it: Pro Wrestling was peaking by fall of 1999, WWF was white hot and couldn't get any hotter, the market was oversaturated with pro wrestling and there was nowhere else to go but down.
No one was turning WCW around anytime soon and it was going to be stuck on the downhill for several years. WCW could probably have leveled out and eventually had a slight bounce back but there likely never would have been this turn around and huge boom for a 3rd time.
