More than worrying about the sun ruining the seats you should be worrying about all the tat your potentially damaging the back seat with. Stop using this beautiful car as a shed! Get it all out, feed the leather and cover it with soft blankets until you have a more permanent solution sorted out. Great to see some progress with the car 👍
The Oil gauge going to full reading means something is not earthed properly and is earthing through the gauge. . I'd say the cluster earth connection is either disconnected or dirty.

I’m under no illusion that no body would agree, personally I would take the lump out of the car, get a full top and bottom rebuild, junk the EFI and put twin SU’s on it. Replace the loom with a new one, before launching more cash at tidying it up. From a cynical old man who arrives at my opinions based on experience 😃😃😃😃😃
You’ve decided the engine needs a top and bottom end rebuild without you or anybody else hearing it run, don’t understand efi, there’s a reason every car manufacturer moved to efi , not sure you have any experience really 😂

I have a North American Stag with the warning buzzer. It is decidedly not cool. Disconnect it NOW. You have had all the fun you'll ever have with it. If you don't it will drive you nuts from here on.😊
You will have to remove that ignition key assembly and remove the back of the broken switch, it's easier than you might think, it should be held in by one, or two tiny machine screws, which are accessible from the sides
Happy days !! Never messed with firm injection but if the car had fuel injection from factory then really it’s got to stay. Hopefully you can get everything working for it to run off the pump 👍
I used to know this car well before Reg owned it. Sadly it isn't an original Nada P6 but converted from a standard 1971 3500. It was transformed in the late 1980s
@@classic_britain OK sorry Sheldon but I knew something about this car had been changed. It was a long time ago and my memory fails me occasionally.😢 Best of luck with it anyway, she's a stunning car
Hi Sheldon, for a buzzer for keys, doors, seatbelts etc. check if a n.a. version MGB seat belt buzzer would fit because moss motors us has those . Possibly also used on US eBay
If you can't get the whole rear bumper bracket get one made up instead you are slowing getting there with the electrics thanks to David's help and keep doing bits and you will get there if you don't go bankrupt before then owning any classic car costs a lot of money and time you want to get rid of the efi injection it will be nothing but trouble but it's your choice good luck with it
If I remember right, Furious Driving shows how he overcame the red light issue. He uses a green LED. I used to run full red rears on a Harley and never had issues ( changed for mot test )
Hi Sheldon. Have you checked you've got the correct ECU for the engine, or even any ECU at all ? I've not heard you mention it as a possible non start/run cause, and they're easily spiked by any electrical shorts or wrong wiring. It should be a flat box about 5x5x1 inches, with a large multi pin plug. See if you can find it. On the 4x4's, they're usually in the cabin/ under the drivers seat area, so it could be on a long cable on the engine loom, mounted well away from the P6 engine bay. There are a few ECU variants, depending on the year and type of injection system. The engine will fire up with fuel poured in, but nothing on the engine will work properly if it's ECU is faulty or missing. The EFi fuel pump is similar to a carburettor SD1, but bigger/ more pressure, and needs a regulated flow. They need to be completely submerged in fuel at all times, or they will run hot, and then the rubber vane pump sticks. They'll only pump fuel when correctly polarity connected. You can easily free a sticking one by running WD40 through as you power it both ways on a 12V battery a few times.
The fuel injector cleaner you used is crap . Forte is much better, I have tried most on the market and Forte is the best I have found . 34 years. experience . Nice car BTW 😎
If the EFI on that is anything like the Bosch Jetronic of the era that got fitted to VW, Porsche, Saab, and Volvo cars - it's unreliable and will continue to give you grief after every time you get it running.
I work on Djet all the time and it's really reliable , considering some of the systems I touch are 50+ years old . Theres a very good site for Djet owners where all of the info ever needed can be found.
Rover used genuine Connolly leather for the seats from the factory for P6 and P5 models. Surprisingly even Toyota did for the original RAV4 upto year 2000 !

Those are festoon bulbs holders for lighting not fuses behind the elec window switches & air con control cover

Yes that would definitely be easier

David is a real hero, wiring can be such a PITA. When I do wiring, I have the same look on my face as Dave!
Hahaha yes indeed we are going to take all the EFI more hassle then it's worth!
I would day they are bulbs behind the heater panel not fuses
Yep your right
I would keep the efi if the factory put it on i’d keep it
No that's not factory
Yes, I agree
That is a festoon bulb I reckon

Very special car needs to be in a garage in the dry. Cars are expensive wate till you pass ur test.
what does he not have a driving licence? not passed his test?
That ignition switch is basically the same design as Land Rover and Triumph, other than the way the cables are connected
David is a logical legend! Whatever happened to John who used to help you ?
Hi shelden have you taken your test now? Great content by the way 👍
Great news as it appears the engine is mechanically sound.
Don't get a red rear indicator it won't comply with UK regulations and car is on the road in the UK now

Get a Malpassi fuel regulator, the only one that really works, plus a low pressure fuel pump.
Noted thanks!
He has bought the correct fuel pump for the system, what are you on about?
The two " fuses " are actually festoon bulbs
And yet more comments bite the dust.

Yep realised after I filmed it lol
Do you have a pair of clear indicator lenses. If a NADA or copy it needs them on.
