Nice big chungus. It fills a unique slot of giant beast man pretty well. The art in the back of the book of the Warseeker vs Hydra has me fantasizing over an Epic Encounters skirmish game. SFG are like 1 pdf ruleset away from these products running double duty as rpg encounters and war game factions.
They could easily do it. The boxes make great warbands, and it would be really cool to pit an orc clan against a gnoll pack, or a goblin tribe against kobolds.
God knows I would Love to put this Big Nasty in my Desert Campaign! It would definitely be the Capstone to the Finale of it. I have some big Idea I can toy with on how the Creation of this Living War Machine could be Made!
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Do you think they will ever put gnolls or lizardmen into the new heroquest game? Or do you think they wouldn't fit? maybe they will have a fun little game mechantic, like some sort of pack attack or something. That would be pretty neat :D
It's a tricky situation, because a lot of people don't want HeroQuest to lean too far into D&D. There have already been complaints of that nature about the warlock and wandering monk. Furthermore, Avalon Hill have said that isn't the direction they want to take the game. However, I don't see why they couldn't have generic dog men and generic lizard men. Just like I don't see why they couldn't do generic rat men. To a certain degree though, the enemies are all supposed to be Zargon's minions. I like the idea of keeping the focus more on dread minions and greenskins as the bulk of his forces, with occasional outliers, like when he convinces the ogre horde to cause trouble that will benefit him.
Yeah, it's a 100mm base, so this guy doesn't sit in a room on the board, he IS the room. The gnolls, I think, could be used for some fun homebrew ideas for HeroQuest, but utilising this chap in any kind of meaningful way is probably outside the realms of possibility.
Such a shame that both products have a number of mistakes/errors, especially with the price points of each. The presentation is stunning though so feel to me to be even bigger own goals. Great coverage, you just need to crack out the beer and get your mates over for a D&D session to put them to the test..... 😉
Yes, it's a shame. Fortunately, they aren't major issues, and overall the presentation is lovely. As you say though, it seems strange to have errors slip through when such care was taken in the overall presentation. The back of the Gnoll Pack box spells the word "miniatures" incorrectly!
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring wow, I didn't realise that!! Tyey should offer you a free pack per release to run your eyes over for quality check prior to production. Free sets for you, fresh pair of eyes and no brand damaging errors for them.......
I used to be an editor in another life and it's a bit of a thankless task. It's definitely a good idea to get fresh eyes to look at something, because after so long working on a text you really do start to see what you expect to see and not what's actually there. I think that may be something Steamforged didn't do here.
It's quite pricey. I've seen it for under £45 online, and other places may stock it for less than that. However, it is a large, pre-assembled miniature and you are getting tokens, a map, and a pretty in-depth book too. When compared to something like a large miniature from GW (and I appreciate that's not a 1-to-1 comparison for various reasons), it's not so bad. Still, at the price point I think you need to know you are going to get a decent amount of usage in your games to justify it.
Crimey! He's a big lad. Would love to see you paint him up.
He ate all the Weetabix, for sure. I'm not sure about painting him at the moment.
Nice mini! Just picked up RoSD from Firestorm Games yesterday and bought the Gnolls for that so this will be a great Sergeant!
Thanks for watching. Epic Encounters Savannah of the Gnoll Pack is a great set for Rangers of Shadow Deep.
Excellent overview of the box contents. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring right? A giant dragon turtle with crab people vs a lich on her bone throne with skeletons would be wild.

It's a suitably intimidating final foe.
Great video.. thanks for the detailed review!
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked it. I have more epic encounters on the channel next week.
Love these Stesmforged sets. Ive got the Arena Of The Undead Horde and Tower of The Lich Queen boss amd they are also spectacular.
They are great. I reviewed that Lich Queen on the channel last year.
Yay! Giant Dogman!
I'm not sure he's a good boy, though.

Fimirs are basically one-eyed lizardfolk.

That map is pretty dope also
It's an interesting layout. Climbing onto the buildings to fight this gigantic creature is pretty cinematic.
Gnarly! Could be a 54mm mini too
cool.
Said no aspiring hero ever, when this thing turned up.
Wow that's a big model
It's really huge.
Bloody hell! That won't fit on the HeroQuest board... Must be tough to paper train something of that size..!

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring hmmm... Unless we use him on some of those new maps you reviewed earlier..! 😼
He could sit on the top of that tower in the corner, like a Bloodborne boss.

For the Algorithm!! 🤖👌

sfg should bring on abnb for proofing/consultation.
