Kramer- try getting used carpet from your local carpet stores. Cut it into long strips about 3 feet wide then roll it up and tie it with twine or whatever rope you have. It’s totally free and the carpet/pad does a great job. You can easily pull out arrows. It lasts a long time. It can get rained on or snowed on and it doesn’t change or get soggy. They go together really fast and simple. You can Spray paint a bulls eye and boom. I made five of these for my back yard. And they work great.

I made a cardboard filled target with inside layers oriented perpendicular to the arrow flight as you did in this video. My arrows were difficult to remove. Remade it with the cardboard oriented in the same direction as the flight. Packed them tightly edge to edge, top to bottom. Stops my arrows nicely and is easy to pull them out. Takes more time to cut the cardboard into wide strips but worth the time/effort. Thanks for your great channel and help. Using your guidance, I made my first bow (hickory self bow). It shoots great. FUN!

I used a cardboard box stuffed with plastic shipping bags... you know either we'r all throw then away or have a ton shoved somewhere. I asked a couple friends and with what I had and what I was given I was able to fill roughly a 20x20x6 inch box at about 15 yards my 65#bow shots through about another 3-6 inches. I really like this idea and I think I'll make one this spring/ summer I think I'll use canvas with a couple layers of cardboard in the inside then fill between with the shopping bags again.

Oh good, I have a bow coming in a few days (and a few weeks later the arrows sadly. Sucks to have to wait but I can't go anywhere right now.) I was looking to see if you had any ideas other than cardboard because that's all I could think of and I didn't think it'd work. But seeing this I'm much more confidant in my idea now :D

Even better. Work safety stores sell old clothes cleaned, cut and compressed into 20x20x10 inches bricks for a fiver (as rugs for oil spills, etc). They're ready to use archery targets up to 80 lbs.

I always use plastic grocery bags. Just keep stuffing them in until they get hard. Plastic house wrap and plastic boat storage wrap also works. Don't have to worry about the weather.

I used to buy packages of pizza boxes for target. They where cheap, come right packet and had the right dimensions and could hold my 35lb bow arrows without issues. :)

Cardboard box stuffed with old clothes. It stops very well but the arrows pull out super easy.

try using poly fill trad bows of 55 lbs. and the more and tighter you the heavier the bow it will take. That's what I use for target stuffing you can get it really cheap at yard sales (stuff animals)
Your great at what you do keep it up brother.

Although the target i made wasn't as cheap, it works really well. I have a cardboard box 30"x30" and 11" wide. 3 pieces of carpet and 6 or 7 cans of spray foam. Basically box, foam, carpet, foam, carpet, foam, carpet, foam and box. Kinda tricky getting the layers of foam even and no air pockets but not too bad. Put a shoulder strap on the top corners and it's really easy to carry and weights half what store bought. Target will stop arrows from a compound bow and bolts from a crossbow as well

At 1st I was thinking, fill a medium sized kitchen trashcan with phone books.
Then I thought, use a cardboard box, put all sizes of books in it, and pack it tight.
Are books too dense? My practice tips are 5/16 100 grain steel.
The compound bow is an old Game Getter Reflex.

If you’ll go down to Home Depot, get a roll of attic insulation, I don’t know, wall insulation, the kind, usually pink, in two foot wide rolls, and four or more inches thick. I stuffed it in a tow sack, about the size of a pig. Stopped my arrows just fine, and easy to pull out, two fingers easy. Make several and scatter them around in different angles, it makes a pretty good bunch of different angles to shoot
