Bring this series back already!
He's a a great character. He's a legend and an icon but he still considers himself a student. That's dope!
Thudrumble humble
Makes a nice change to see someone not being over the top into themselves, even tho Q has earned a bit of cockyness, if he so desired!
The love for music keeps him young.
QBert is one cool ass dude. Humble & very funny.
Thanks Qbert for showing mad love to the OLD SKOOL - Marley Marl and U.T.F.O. a lot of the younger DJ's sleep on the Founding Fathers of Hip-Hop. I am Soooooo glad that i was born in 1971 and came up with it all. If i was born 10, 20 years ago I would be PISSED!
DJ Qbert has an awesome philosophy on DJing and learning from the different forms of music and translating that to DJing. Also, massive BIGUP for the Marley Marl mention! People just don't know!
That Marley Marl song he was referring to was 'He Cuts So Fresh'. It was a track on the 'Uptown's Kickin' It' album compilation. Dropped in '87 I believe...
Listened to DJ Qbert for the first time the other day while stoned lol, really blew my mind away. Seams like he's got it down to some sort of science, its just unreal!
Check out his old wave twisters cd and videos too!
One of the greats. Respect.
Stopped counting at 30,000 records... lol...wow, qbert is such a cool guy, & wicked down to earth, great personality. This video was great man, really cool to see qberts collections, & see how the master lives, & how he gets down...... Respex, Big Upz, & Mad Love to the Skratch DJs..... 👍👊💪🙏😎🔥💯
More than half of those are throw away records.
Camel Bobsled Race was my introduction to Qbert years ago. Turntablism of the highest order and still a favorite.
The nicest person ever. He showed me how to beat juggle back in the 90's!
And he’s a solid person on top of the skill set. He’s such a good dude he flew across th country to play the bday party for one of his old school boys from the Rock Steady crew like a few years back. Dude is my perfect combination of knowledge and skills. Mad props.
DjQbert Putting me on to Tribal knowledge.
Wavetwisters was on heavy repeat sophomore year of high school. This dude really shaped my come uppins.
I have it on VHS :)
I heard wavestwisters really late at night I 1999on the radio .I was blown away .then I heard their was a movie to go along with it .I saw the world premiere at ucla.🤯
This dude is deep
Thats Ninjaman, A late 90's Jamaican Dancehall Dj (Jamaican for rapper) and next to that record Qbert pulled out was "The Very Best of Eek-A-Mouse"
The Marley Marl record he is trying to remember is called ´He cuts so Fresh´.
the gigantor theme is insane
Qbert just dropped a Golden Nugget for every DJ to pick up on." ah this this stuff is really fresh!" was on a record by Fab Five Freddy that many DJ samples throughout history. he also mentioned Kraftwerk who played a major roll in the eighties hip hop era.
Every dj knows where ahhh and fresh came from
Lots of LOL with this video! Q is the REAL DEAL!!! I've gotta cop one of those Psycho City hats......first time I ever saw Q was there when his band in the late 80's was shooting a video. I was blessed to be able to see him and the Skratch Picklez on and off over the years.....always an inspirational and mind blowing experience!!!
Saw him at a rave in LA in 2000. Amazing.
He is Filipino.. What people dont know Filipinos contributed American music especially hiphop...

I am not a collector as such ,so I was surprised that I have about one third of the records he featured.
I need to start skratching again. Q-Bert is such an inspiration!
The entire Breaktionary series by Qbert is on my Channel if anyone is interested. Insane funk breaks!

He definitely has many gifts, not just musical:)
Great interview , qbert is a hero among many!
straight up the master and mix master mike saw him live amazing.
I think I got a crush on you DJ Qbert! hahaha! Your talent and humor just struck me! Hip hop hooray! :D
spotted the Casio RZ-1 ...which was my first drum machine.. used those 4 little sample pads to sample hits and made a couple of tracks using that machine. Loved the little Accent button too for adding a bit a real feel as they weren't touch sensitive pads. also noticed a little Zoom st224 sampler (poor mans SP1200) great for making gritty beats
Your a funny man !! Like it :)
Q is the best!
Dope I am going to put this in my daily vlog!
The Marley Marl track that Qbert mentioned is "He Cuts So Fresh" by Marley Marl, which as far as I know is only a single, and not on any of Marley's albums.
DJ Qbert is an awesome DJ.
-DJ Ricky Rick
what a good guy :)
Holy shit that rocksteady picture disc is worth shit loads of cash and its rare as hell....
04:03 Shout out to PBS/KQED Channel 9. Legit some of the illest stuff to a kid who didn't have cable. You'd see everything from Sesame Street, to a full symphony performance, to Dr. Who or a Huey Newton documentary...

Love the OS Gemeos Mural!
30,000 records. Yea, really minimal. :) Great episode.
my uncle owned a record store back in the eighties. I used to spend all of my time there after school playing records. there was this one record called the black hole which was also a movie that had some great sound effect on it. this is pre Star Trek and Star Wars great memories
Do you know the complete references of this record ?
+Hoodie Man the name of the movie It's called THE BLACK HOLE the movie came out in 1979 with a sound effect soundtrack to it. it had a lot of great sci-fi and futuristic sound effects to it. little did they know the future would be quiet. but if it's just sound effects you're looking for there are plenty of sound effects CDs on the market today. just search sound effect. I hope this help you in your quest.
The teacher tells them to bring a Christmas record, and his friend brings Trans Europe express 😂
q is the man

they should really bring back crate diggers!!!!!
No they shouldn't. They only interview famous people in which half of them lie. I know people that will smoke these wack collections. Gene Ammons isn't a library either
Nice!!
Love you Qbert
R.I.P. Blowfly!
6:28 dope flow! ^__^
hey... i got that red Blowfly - Zodiac Signs record!!!
I think record collectors are good for the environment as they keep a lot of vinyl that would normally end up in landfills.
Music Power most of the vinyl I buy, cost me a shit load. I always see so many crap records in the dollar bins or thrift stores.
amazingabby25 Yea, I bought a Janet Jackson record for a dollar and it sells for about 25
amazingabby25 when I go on discogs ans shop for vinyl I just find the cheapest one see what condition its in and buy it
@@bitinback2825 i do exactly the same mate
I’ve pulled over 10 library records outta thrift stores over the years. KPM, DeWolfe, a Canadian company the name escapes me.. lots of dope shit.
Just gotta know when the new batch of records hits the floor and have patience.
Good one
Get this man to the moon!!! #dearMoon
Qbert is great :)
legend
The Hendrix of the turntables!!!
@11:35 just a quick FYI The track Q is referring to IS by Marley Marl but it is not on that album. It's called Marley Marl Scratch (Feat. MC SHAN) (1985 NIA Recs.) If you are a true turntablist and you HAVE the Dirt Style BATTLE BREAKS, you will hear the classic samples...."break it down", "can we hear your funky fresh scratchin' again" etc. ps.....Waddup Q' , been a while my man, holla at cha boy! JC/ SOUNDQUEST ENT.
Qbert is one of the best a hip hop god
5.33 is in the box.
I really love the idea of finding an old vinyl that no one wants, the dregs of the dollar bin and finding a little piece of it, making it into something new and beautiful.
he iz the coolest guy around..by far.
Dope studio
great video
Saw Qbert from the front row in 98. He looked exactly the same as in this video so how come I don't still look the same as well. Fucking cheat codes, man
