I remember going to see Goldeneye at the cinema with my dad when I was 7 years old. The film was rated 12 so I wasn't allowed to have a ticket. My dad bought us tickets for Babe the Sheep Pig instead, and then we just snuck in to see Goldeneye. I genuinely felt like I was Bond for a moment, going to see Bond.

@@sambrainard3487 - Well said.
I feel like it’s unfair to call Dr. No “vanilla” because it was literally THE first Bond film, that’s just me though.
Scenes like the “you’ve had your six” the bikini girl, and just the coolness of Connery in the role makes it top tier for me.
Agreed. I appreciate how Dr. No is more grounded and less campy tbh. It can be enjoyed as a standard spy thriller and doesn't over-rely on gimmicks.
But that's what he means. "Dr No" is a good film, but it is because it sets up the elements of what makes a good Bond movie, but doesn't really experiment with the formula a lot, like films such as "The World is Not Enough" does
@@maniaccop3403 Huh? It's the first film. Literally every single thing in it is an experiment with the formula! It's incalculably more experimental that TWINE. Also it's full of iconic moments not just in the history of Bond films but in the history of cinema.
I believe, that "Dr No" should be cut a lot of slack, because the studio was just experimenting, with whether or not there was a signifigant audience for a James Bond film, so there wasn't much money or effort behind it. It was pretty much thought of as a "B" movie, as it was being made. After it was a hit, a little more money and effort was put into the next one, "From Russia with Love", so it was better, but they were still cautious with thier money and effort, just in case, "Dr No" was a fluke. Remember, in the early 1960's, many thought, that movies in general, were on their way out, because of the rising popularity of television, so it was a difficult time to attract investors. James Bond, as a franchise having proven itself with the first two movies, hit stride with "Goldfinger".
Too bad, that Sean Connery lost interest and didn't do "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", then it would have been awesome. George Lazenby did okay and seemed to be catching on to acting, at times in that movie, so he may have grown into the role, if he continued, but of course, that was his only Bond film.
Man, I still wish that Connery had taken up the offer to play the groundskeeper in Skyfall. It would've been such a perfect sendoff. Well, flaw that makes the masterpiece....
that really happened?
@@Soundbraid I believe so, yes. If you watch it again it's very easy to see Connery in the role.
@@JoeEnglandShow I was picturing him in the role as well when watching the movie for the first time
A cool idea I had world be too have the old Bond actor do a cameo to the new Bond actors in the movies. So Connery could have done it for Lasenbee but then Connery came back but he could have done it for More then more for Dalton then Dalton for Brosnan then Brosnan for Craig
Connery did the From Russia with Love game. Like Brosnan it was a great send off even if they didn't get a proper final film.
I always feel so bad for Brosnan. The ideal casting for Bond and generally just given absolute crap (Goldeneye notwithstanding)
Brosnan was one of my favourites.
I'd say the whole Franchise since View to a Kill. Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies were fine. The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day started out well. Then just fell apart.

Take Thunderball, remove Barry's score, Adam's sets, Moore's cinematography, the classy 60s fashions, Fiona Volpe, the sense of a real, lush location, and finally any sense of plausibility whatsoever, and replace it with the aesthetics of a low-budget Italian film from the 70s, cheap ugly video game references, and gadgets straight out of Get Smart. Personally I would put Casino Royale at the top. The story is fantastic and believable enough not to feel too over the top, the poker scenes are incredibly tense and the action scenes are so well shot, it still holds up brilliantly 15 years later. The little head tilts to classic James Bond tropes throughout the film like Bonds quip about not caring if the martini is shaken or stirred, Bond winning the keys to Aston Martin DB5 and finally the classic one liner, followed by the main score at the very end, served to satisfy older fans while breathing new life into the franchise, grounding it and delivering one of the greatest Bonds we’ve ever had.
Yep 100% agree
Amen to your comment! I feel exactly the same way!
Casino Royale is the ultimate Bond film.
Having almost seen only the Craig movies (in the couple of weeks before No Time to Die came out) i really enjoyed both Quantum of Solace and Spectre. I feel like both were very entertaining films that served developing Bond's arc. Especially for Spectre, i think it's a very well put together movie.

World is not Enough is definitely underrated. Pierce is perfect, Elektra is electric, Christmas Jones is a bond holiday of her own. It was Desmond Llewelyn's last film (sadly) before they gave John Cleese a try. Valentine (Robbie Coltrane) adds an extra dynamic to the film. And the plot isn't as crazy as some of the earlier films. The theme song is pretty good too. I give it 8/10.
they didnt give john cleese a try desmond tragically died in a car crash in 1999 when they released twino.
Yes!!! I agree it’s one of my most favourites

Goldeneye is elite. The score is actually fitting. A cold war undertone. That it hasn't ended and Bond has to stop it. The plot itself is outstanding and it would be the best writing if the promotional material didn't fudge it up by saying Sean Bean was a supporting actor. Should have made it as Alec Trevelyan played by Sean Bean at the end of the score.
@Starscream91 Makes it obvious right from the beginning that he was Janus.
Starscream91 Inductive reasoning.
@Starscream91 Compare the opening credits vs the opening credits of The Usual Suspects.
Enrique Comas the Goldeneye trailer gave the 006/Janus spoiler. One of the worst trailers ever. Great movie though.
"Goledneye" would be in the top three for me, if David Arnold had done the score. As it stands, I detest the score and so the movie ranks in the lower part of the top ten.
You missed the best James Bond movie ever.
Ian Fleming's finest.

Hi ho chitty chitty bang bang chitty chitty bang bang I love you
Best Bond girl name... "Truly Scrumptious". I'm guessing the actual Bond girl name would be "Truly Scrumptious-Legs"
Featuring Auric Goldfinger and Q
The movie is definitely more a Roald Dahl movie than an Ian Fleming movie.
I really like License to Kill, it feels like Bond while still being different. Plus, its very underrated.
I will never understand the obsession with Skyfall. It has been a while since I have seen it, so maybe I need to give it another shake, but the only thing I remember agreeing on or really enjoying was the cinematography. I will sing it's praises there. The lighting and framing of scenes at the end in Scotland are really great. Otherwise, I just find it alright.
I think after viewing my own opinion and revisiting the movies I think why Goldeneye is so high up is it is able to balance fun and seriousness. I think Skyfall is too dour and Bond should be fun or it is at it's best when it's fun. It does not need to devolve to silliness or camp which can be fun in it's own right, but Goldeneye works so well because it knows WHEN to be serious and when to enjoy itself. Also though other than the opening car scene music, which kind has grown on me, the music is great in Goldeneye, the end showdown theme between Alek and James gets me every time.
It's impossible for me to separate my enjoyment of goldeneye the movie from the video game.
Is everyone who played the video game just blinded by nostalgia or is the movie itself actually good?
Overall I don't understand such obsession over Craig's tenure. Sure he was great but none of his moments really stand out to me.
I don't understand its stature as a near top Bond film either. It's middling at best. Sure, great villain performance, but poor pacing, convoluted plot and "Home Alone" ending bring it down.
I love it
I'm in a strange place where I think Quantum of Solace is better than Skyfall and Casino Royale... but then none of them are in my top 10...
Licence to Kill is my number 1 favorite Bond Film, it honestly deserves a lot more love and support
no it doesn't
watched it last night! reminds me of pablo Escobar vibes
License to Kill was the first movie I watched in a surround sound theater. It has been my favorite since then. Most fans hated it, but it has moved up in the eyes of most fans in recent years
Brad Bruhn oh real, my first bond was 🤔🤔🤔probs tomorrow never dies which is dreadful 😂 who’s your fav bond ?
I really don't have a favorite Bond...I have a least favorite, George Lazenby hahahaha. I really thought Connery was a great Bond to open the Cinematic Series with. Moore added more of a lighter take on the character. Dalton's take was criticized for years, but has come to be more revered due to Craig's take. I really thought Brosnan really did a great job of taking aspects of Connery, Moore and Dalton. Craig is more of an anti-hero.
Why doe everyone hate the Goldeneye soundtrack? It's so forboeding and raises the suspense! I guess that doesn't make it very fun per se, but it's still masterful in my opinion and perfectly sets the tone of the film.
Have you heard the music during the scene near the beginning with Bond Racing Xenia? It's terrible.
I like the moodier bits, but it does not always compliment the action.
I like it too. I think Eric Serra did a wonderful job.
@@BooshmanLee I think that's the only one that's kind of weird. It sounds more like it could've been for a car racing game.

Calvin is exactly right as to why the Bond films have survived to the present day, they're self-contained stories (or at least used to be).
Related note: I really don't like how fans (and now the series creators!) have tried building a Zelda Timeline for 007. I get it, formally dressed gadget wielding heroes in self-contained highly formulaic adventures (and sold a shitload of Nintendo 64s), but come on.
How you can tell someone is a dedicated Bond fan: They can watch Die Another Day more than once in their lives. Ugh...
Also glad he's concluded that Spectre is crap. It was such a disappointment, after having a great villain in Javier Bardem only for them to completely waste Christoph Waltz.
I found it boring as hell, kind of like watching those tech demos for TV's at appliance stores.
It put me to sleep in the movies.
I find the last 3 Brosnan's films lack the quality of Goldeneye but was, up until Casino Royale, probably the best debut performance from a new actor to play Bond. Die Another Day is low on my list. Brosnan had crap scripts but I prefer the harder edge Bond movies so Casino Royale is my favourite.
I’ve seen it MANY times. Only later did I start realising why it’s not great.
Spectre retroactively ruins the plots of the previous three Craig films which is why I don’t like it at all.

I’m glad there’s a Bond super fan/ critic that loves Brosnan. He’s incredible and I love those movies so much. He IS Bond for me.
I think Dalton is closer to the books' Bond, and I love him but the Brosnan films have the perfect balance of fun, action and grit. They are the ones I rewatch if I fancy a quick Bond moment.
Agreed, Brosnan has nailed the balance from Dalton's serious Bond with Moore's kooky Bond. His reaction in Tomorrow Never Dies with the inflatable tires is my absolute fave.
@@terryf6696 I think Brosnan has the look and plays bond with alot of range from serious to fun and cool. I agree with most of this except that any Brosnan movies were mediocre. As I said, to me they are the most rewatchable. They got the perfect balance of everything that makes a bond. I even rewatch Die Another Day with childish glee, quite regularly. But maybe I'm just weird 😆

I just wached the living daylights and I must say Dalton is my favorite bond he was great in the action and believable becase he did most of the stunts by him self also in the emotional scenes you can feel his pain sadness and anger for revenge. He was the most prepared to play bond by reading all the novels into bringing the caracter back to a serious and coldblooded agent after Moore's campiness he really brought back that side of the caracter.Really pity he did only 2 movies I would've love to see more bond movies with him.

I appreciate the time and effort you put into this list. That being said, I fundamentally disagree with the numbering of almost every film on this list. However, that’s the beauty of such a long running franchise. It has had its ups and downs, but everyone loves it for different reasons and that’s why 007 is a mainstay!

You are OUT OF YOUR MIND about From Russia With Love. Thats one of the top 5 Bond films ever!!!!! The Train fight is the best and most realistic hand to hand battle of all time
I honestly have no idea what he's smoking.
The whole train scene is my favorite Bond scene from all the movies.
Sound design in there is brutal. That scene represents how you don't need tons of fx to create real feelings on movies.
He literally said he enjoyed all the train stuff. But the scenes on the Orient Express don't salvage the rest of the film, which , outside of some good performances that leave an impression, is ultimately a poorly-paced film that takes too long to get from one bit to the next. There's plenty of redeeming things about it, but ever since I watched it, I felt that same sort of disappointment that Calvin feels, where it's simply not as good a film as people make it out to be. I mean, let's not hide from the reality of it: It was *deliberately* designed to be more Hitchkockian, so much so that it's absolutely impossible not to notice it... but if I wanted to watch a Hitchkockian espionage thriller, then North by Northwest is objectively the better film in that regard by a large margin.
FRwL's biggest problem is that Terence Young didn't do his own thing with it. Had he done so, I think FRwL could've turned out to be the film everyone likes to say it is. Still adore Matt Munro's theme, though.

Very true, Gary! As is evident by my own list being quite different to how it was when I did another list years ago. So much can depend on the frame of mind and how your days has been, what you're in the mood for etc.

Favorite Bond one-liner is from You Only Live Twice:
Femme Fatale : I've got you now.
Bond : Well enjoy yourself.
Calvin, it's about time: we need a new ranking including "No time to die".
Goldfinger is Iconic especially with the beginning.
I agree that Moonraker isn't the best film, but it is one of my guilty pleasures. I've always enjoyed it.
I'd argue "guilty pleasure" is just a nice way to say it's a really great james bond movie that has a lot of technical issues and has to be first viewed from the lens of a 12 year old boy. in that respect the opinion of film critics is irrelevant and it can stand alone as an enjoyable "bond goes to space and saves the world" movie.
@@rwgeach Yeah, that's a great way to put it
"Diamonds Are Forever" is my guilty pleasure.
Once I accepted Moonraker's sci-fi plot it actually rose substantially in my ranking.
I disagree with your list...but i respect it for the arguments...good work !
Well, he takes his time to present his arguments so is hard to be angry with him, besides he is doing it from a very personal standpoint which is neat. Is like talking about your favorite songs, it really depends on your mood.
I disagree too but he has good arguments.
Literally watched this and didn't think that either GoldenEye or Skyfall would be in the top 10 even though they both are my favorite 007 films. So happy that someone else agrees with me. GoldenEye is my childhood favorite but what Sam Mendes did for Skyfall was perfecting James Bond finally... and my personal favorite Bond villain. The ending where they are at the mansion in Scotland and the sun goes down will live in my nightmares. Beautifully
A couple of years ago, I sat by myself and suddenly realised that License to Kill is my favourite Bond film. It used to be Casino Royale, and I still love that film very much and think it's a stellar piece of cinema, but License is just the film I could always watch, know also bit for bit, quote a lot of the time etc.
29:57 - 31:31 - Proof that "The World is Not Enough" is really good and seriously underrated:)
24:56 - 26:38 - Proof that "Tomorrow Never Dies" is really good and seriously underrated:)
Two great movies, especially in hindsight now that the Craig era has sent the franchise down the gutter.
@@sebastianfitzptraick7395 agreed pierce is my second favorite bond. And I think die another day Is his only one that’s not great. But even that movie I can’t help but enjoying just for pierce performance as James Bond.
Pierce is the best. Even Die Another Day is great, despite the low ranking here. Craig is playing a different character altogether, his films have little to do with James Bond.
both are complete and utter garbage
@@tonybanks1035 In your opinion.
It's funny. This very video, combined with the realisation that there's a Bond reviewer who not only shares my love for GoldenEye and my disdain for Spectre, but is also able to watch the first two Connery movies without nostalgia goggles, is what got my back into the Bond franchise. And now that I've spent the last months watching the entire series twice (first in chronilogical order, then in opposite order of my preliminary ranking), I'm thinking you're being too harsh on Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Maybe I'm getting old.
Anyway, here's the ranking I came up with:
1. GoldenEye
2. Casino Royale
3. Goldfinger
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
5. Licence to Kill
6. Tomorrow Never Dies
7. You Only Live Twice
8. The Spy Who Loved Me
9. Skyfall
10. From Russia With Love
11. Octopussy
12. The Living Daylights
13. The Man With The Golden Gun
14. Live And Let Die
15. Dr. No
16. Quantum of Solace
17. The World Is Not Enough
18. For Your Eyes Only
19. Thunderball
20. Die Another Day
21. A View to a Kill
22. Moonraker
23. Diamonds Are Forever
24. Spectre
My gym has a movie theater with cardio machines in it and they were playing Skyfall and I was so invested in it that I ended up doing 1400 calories worth of cardio. 😆 Great film
I did not expect Skyfall to be number 1 on this guy's list
To put spectre before the 1960’s casino Royale is a joke
Erika Tabbouch Yes, that was harsh!
But Spectre is the worst official Bond film for sure.
Maybe but to be fair, the more I think about it, the more I fucking hate Spectre. I feel that Blofeld does not belong in modern Day bond and should remain a relic of the Cold War Bond films. Everything in Spectre seems so forced. In Quantum the shaky cam and the editing really fucked the action scenes quite a bit but in Spectre its the absolute opposite. The action scenes feel incredibly boring because they are way too polished, glossy and clean. I mean the italian car chase scene was incredibly boring... Nothing eventfull happens, I dont even remember anything of that scene. And there are way too many callbacks and what not. And I hate the fact that Craig has two of the absolute best bond movies and two of the worst. But coming back to it, Spectre is pretty darn bad. Yes the cinematography is impeccable but the stakes are not really all that thrilling when it almost completely negates the entire point of the previous three films. It felt really forced and neither Craig nor Waltz feels compelling. Waltz actually sucks ass in this film and we are talking about Christopher Waltz here... Blofeld should have been absolutely perfect for him but in the end it was pretty meh. I wasnt a fan of the whole "Welcome to my Underground Lair" feel as well. It feels soooooo fucking out of place and dated in 2015. Still is today, even more probably. I hope Bond 25 makes up for it cause honestly I seriously disliked Spectre and I actually in hindsight agree with the fact that its the worse on this list.
they got us on the run with guns and knives were fighting for out lives have no fear bond is here the music beginning titles and maybe a few bits but casino royale is freaking terrible
I agree, Die Another Day should also not have been in front of it. I understand Spectre was not a good film but it was ranked very very low
Pierce Brosnan is my favourite Bond, he's so confident and cool and kicks major arse in the action scenes.
I could watch him machine gun bad guys all day.
Im one of those people who think he should have done another one. I read he was supposed to do another one but his contract was cut short for really bullshit reasons. It was known recently that Brosnan had been plain and simply fired for no reason on a phone call. Brosnan really wanted to go out with a bang and I think many fans wanted that too even though as to the point of Die Another Day the series was at an all time low. But I truly think Brosnan deserved way better.
My fav as well. Very true Necro. Totally agree.
shame on u
He is the most well elegant and well-rounded of the bunch for sure. He is the ideal bond, too bad he was so unfairly ruined and tossed aside.
@@necroplastful True, DAD is not a good movie, but it was Brosnan's highest grossing Bond movie.
I'm in my first rewatch on most of the movies and I honestly think From Russia with Love is one of my favourites. Definitely my favorite Connery film.
I used to hate it, now it’s too 5 :)
My favorite of his, no question
Agreed. From Russia with Love is easily top 5 and it's one of the most faithful films when compared to the novels. To rank "The World is not Enough" at # 5 shows this clown is not serious... excuse the oxymoron.

After rewatching them all this November, here's my ranking.
1.) Casino Royale
2.) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3.) GoldenEye
4.) Licence to Kill
5.) Goldfinger
6.) From Russia with Love
7.) The Spy Who Loved Me
8.) Skyfall
9.) The Living Daylights
10.) The World Is Not Enough
Definitely agree with the top two!
GoldenEye is a little low. Other than that, nice list
Casino royale at 1... 😬
What you said about Spectre and Quantum's continuity made me realize how well Fleming maintained continuity. Events in each story have a lasting effect on Bond but each adventure is still its own adventure. Even when dealing with SMERSH and SPECTRE each book's tale stands on their own.
Sure the Craig continuity was just handled horribly but goes to show that the movies shouldn't focus on hardcore continuity, and if they want to do that they need to plan ahead. When I see the ending of CR I don't picture "Can't wait for Bond to continue hunting Quantum", I think "This adventure set up Bond for future stories".
Hated this ranking, loved the video. Fortunately people do not agree on everything and your comments was a nice new point of view that deviates so massively from mine!
Hit us with that list!
It's nice to see that Goldeneye finally is almost on top in a ranking. Usually it is high ranked, but here it is finally in a deserved place. It's such a great movie. Brosman as Bond, the post Sowjet plot, Sean Bean, Xenia is nothing but amazing, the Russian General, the scenes and the song from Tina Turner. It's just perfect🥰
Daniel Craig will always be my favorite Bond, even the heavy flaws Quantum and Spectre suffer, I still think Craig puts on his best performance and it is amazing, the new personality he has brought to Bond made me love him instantly, Casino Royale will also always be my favorite in the series.
Quantum took place during a writer's strike, so Craig rewrote it mostly himself. That's why it was so short compared to others.
For me Craig was never a Bond i see him more as a better Jason Bourne he had nothing of 007 just brawls. Brosnan Moore Connery Top 3 Bond
@@itachiuchiha7728 Yeah I agree, I love Casino Royale and Spectre but nothing about them feels particularly Bond-y. They feel like more of a soft reboot than a continuation of the series, while Moore and Brosnan both leaned into the lineage of 007.
Full credit for World is Not Enough. Great movie and severely underappreciated. I get Denise Richards was miscast but apart from that it is fantastic.
Clicked immediately because I NEED to see where Licence to Kill ranks with Calvin after he’s matured & his tastes have changed in the last few years.
Still not number one. He'll be ready one day.
My favorite Bond film is License to Kill, and that has not changed since it was released. Really think Dalton knocked it out of the park, the vengeance plot helped justify bringing an intensity to the role that I think had always been missing compared to the character from the books. That is Bond to me!
Same here! Although I didn't quite get to enjoy it upon release as I would have been around.. four years old 😄 But it has always remained my favourite ever since I first watched it.
At this point, Bond has resigned for personal vendetta so many times it would almost be more surprising if he actually stayed on her majesty's secret service for the entirety of No Time To Die.
Yes I agree!!!! It’s one of my most favourite Bond films ever. It’s just fabulous
I love the music in Goldeneye. I understand why people are off put by how different it is to other films, but no soundtrack gives me goosebumps like Goldeneye’s soundtrack.
My all-time favourite has not changed: “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” I saw this in New York City during the 1969 Christmas holidays, at the age of thirteen. George Lazenby not only was a refreshing change, breathing new life into the character, but remains my favourite Bond. Connery did a sleepwalk through two films, then returned looking like Lazenby’s father! (I’m happy he took that break.) But we went from ”OHMSS” to a succession of crap, not getting the Bond mojo back until “For Your Eyes Only.” Then, another run of mediocrity until “Licence To Kill.” Whatever career difficulties Lazenby endured, it may be a good thing that he didn’t stick around for what followed.
I can accept the OHMSS is great but how tf was lazemby good
The Spy Who Loved Me was good. So was Octopussy. I have to watch License To Kill in its entirety to judge it, but I loved The Living Daylights.
@@danielorr352 Basically, by the fact that he was the most physically fit, the most self-confident, and possessed the ability to play the character almost by instinct. (Of course, having Peter Hunt as director was a great help!) Yes, better than Connery or Moore could do. He fit Ian Fleming’s conception of Bond better than anyone else.
@@mercuryrising2424 I hope you’ll watch “Licence To Kill,” and then tell us what you think. It is different, showing a James Bond more human, more down-to-earth, who has to choose his loyalty to his best friend over his loyalty to M and the Secret Service. Timothy Dalton is at his best! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
I can't remember any of Quantum of Solace.
I vaguely remember that someone drank motor oil in it. That's all i remember.
Tried 2 watch it 3 or 4 times. Like the Lawrence Welk show. Sleep overtook me. I agree with Never Say Never again. Thunderball names etc.
You should remember the opening scene, one of the best and maybe the only one linked to the ending of the previous movie
I adore the opera scene in Bregenz and that's about it.
Kat Welham it’s bad
The Living Daylights is placed way too low, it makes the top ten of Bond movies for me.
Honestly, if you trim 15 minutes off the unnecessary final action sequence, it is probably top 4.
It has recently become my very favorite Bond movie. It's not the best (I'd say OHMSS or CR is the best) but I just personally love it. Favorite soundtrack, favorite Bond, and some admittedly boring yet interesting villains.
Certainly more than Licence To Kill. It’s a pretty awesome movie that’s held up well in general, aside from obvious things like Bond siding with the Arabs who splintered into the Taliban later. Many scenes look surprisingly modern and seem like they were shot yesterday. Licence To Kill is too much of a relic of it’s era. It’s like a TV movie of some police procedural like Magnum PI mixed with a violent action movie like Death Wish and Die Hard starring James Bond and friends loaded up with all the late 80s tropes like ninjas, forced love triangles, waterskiing and roadhouse fights.
@@marcod4538 Very good point. Apart from the plane scene which is great, alot of the Afghan stuff was a bit boring.
This might get people stirred but living daylights is number 2
so glad to hear your re eval of “Casino Royale” directed by Martin Campbell- completely agree about his directing skill, the Daniel Craig Eva Green chemistry and the emotional story working exceedingly well. Also agree about “Spectre” being terrible but not QOS which is an excellent epilogue to “Casino Royale” thx 👏🏼⭐️

Thank you SO MUCH, Laura! Really appreciate this! The Bond fandom is certainly a more lowkey one than the like of Star Wars or such but given that we’re all fans of a super spy, maybe that’s appropriate... Haha, thanks very much again :)
I agree!!!!! Calvin always brightens my day
Skyfall was the first Bond movie I ever watched, with my family never really being big fans of Bond and it absolutely caused me interest in the further series
Same here
im happy for George lazemby that he gets credit
The living daylights should be way higher! One of the best James Bond soundtracks and Dalton did a great job as James Bond.
Octopussy is my favorite Bond film, no shame! I even love "All time High" , the knife twins Mischka and Grischa have that badass theme every time they come after somebody
Joey Cage, I absolutely love it, Moore is my No2 Bond behind Brosnan!
@@pr-tj5by agree! Bronson 1 Moore 2
Your awesome! Cant agree more!
It’s fun and certainly much better than NSNA but it sits between 15 and 19 in my rankings. The plot is too convoluted and they inserted too much comedy for a movie that would’ve been more suited to being more serious. I’d certainly take it over every Brosnan movie after Goldeneye and Licence To Kill anyday.
Octopussy is Moore's best for me. Which doesn't say that much. The Moore films are all quite bad for me but Octopussy is somewhat enjoyable.
I am shocked that From Russia with Love is so low. Shocked, i tell you! It's definitely in my top two or three! Love it so much. But, Hitch directing a Bond film? What an intriguing thought...
Basically from Russia with love. That's Hitchcock all over
Totally agree jm Casey this for me is Sean's best and along with Roger were my favourites.
I agree; it’s my favourite Bond Film
FRWL is the best James Bond spy movie to date. Comes in at #2 on my list.
Skyfall is just great, The theme song by Adele is amazing aswell imo
Why don’t people like the world is not enough? When he kills the girl and then dives off the tower to get in a submarine was an absolute classic James Bond moment.
Sean Connery......the PERFECT Bond
Roger Moore.......the COMEDIAN Bond
Timothy Dalton...the SERIOUS Bond
Pierce Brosnan....the COLD Bond
Daniel Craig.........the BRUTAL Bond
Ted Pow
George Lazenby.......the WOODEN Bond
Call me crazy but I’d actually switch Brosnan and Connery’s roles.
Also Lazenby is DEFINITELY the WOODEN bond.
Connery: Quintessential Bond
Lazenby: Sensitive Bond
Moore: Comedian Bond
Dalton: Intense Bond
Brosnan: Balanced Bond
Craig: Reckless Bond
Lazenby could have grown with the role. Made all the Roger Moore films with more physicality...could have been a way better run of films. Tho The Spy Who Love me is one if the best bond films. Moore killed that one.
Brosnan was the SUAVE Bond.

Great tiers, Innes! Looks like we have a few similarities. Also nice to see YOLT so high on another list! It's a fantastic movie.
Calvin - Bond Reviewer thanks! YOLT was one of the first Bond films I saw (grew up in the gap between Brosnan and Craig) so there’s probably a fair degree of nostalgia involved, and it helps that it’s got the best soundtrack in the series (imo) too haha. When I think about it properly though there’s no Bond film that I enjoy as much as YOLT and I think enjoyment is the most important thing for this series. That’s why although Spectre does a lot of things fairly well it’s at the bottom, because that Bond/Blofeld brothers development just frustrates and disappoints me so much that I get no enjoyment out of that film anymore.
Totally with you on YOLT having the best soundtrack, I love it too! It's probably my most enjoyable Bond rewatch too. I find it very fun to quote from too 😊

Dude thank you! I FINALLY got caught up by watching Spectre tonight. Didn't know too much about it and man was I REALLY let down. I went on youtube to see if anyone else disliked it as much as I did. Great list!
Ngl I like every bond film, and for some unknown reason die another day has a soft spot. Probably nostalgia
Part of what makes Skyfall so good is that the bad guy wins and it really hurt to see him win. That gut punch and the return to form at the end was spectacular.
That doesn't make it good. The villian is miserably awful, and his plot is among the most ridiculously convoluted in the series. The cinematography was spectacular, but that is all.
That's not the reason why it's good. The reason it's good is because the movie was nicely scripted.
@@TheGore1021 I loved the part of the script where Silva was climbing the ladder, but he also had a remote explosive planted under the underground train, and just as Bond was coming for him, Silva dropped a train that happened to be passing overhead right in front of Bond! Pretty amazing planning. Really gives the viewer a sense of wonder that few movies are able to accomplish, like: I wonder how any of this makes any sense in the world that this film has established.
@@jon4715 Isn't that most James Bond movies?
@@user-yv4mm6bx3c I don't think so. Most Bond movies, and certainly most successful action movies, establish rules that the plot adheres to in order to create stakes. In Skyfall, things just happen as a matter of convenience without any establishment of possibility. What in Skyfall would lead us to believe that the tube train falling out of the ceiling at just that moment seems at all plausible? Nothing, and that lack of plausibility in Skyfall's established world is what really hurts the movie in hindsight or on closer inspection.
As far as Bond being against Melina getting revenge on Kristatoes in FYEO, Bond is a stone cold killer who shows no remorse when he kills and feels no pity (he wouldn't be good at his job if he did), he knew that Melina didn't have the mind set that he did and it would turn her into a person just like him if she avenged her parents (he was trying to save her from becoming an emotionless killer like himself). It's kind of similar to the dynamic between Bruce and Dick Grayson in Batman Forever.
"That damn winking fish" LOL
