Here's how we give our girls a hair-cut, using hand (Blade) Shears. The shearing tool can be found at www.watsonmultishears.co.nz/sh... The shearing video I recommend can be found at www.ruralroutevideos.ca
You are such a pro. So gentle and careful. I like that you don't shave all the way down to the skin to protect them from bug bites. So smart. Keep the videos coming.
It’s amazing how calm she is. So relaxing. I’m trying to figure out if I want to use scissors or clippers. I’m only going to have 3 sheep, the reason I don’t like clippers is because I haven’t seen one with a guard on it. I’ve groomed dogs before but never sheep and I’m so afraid I’d cut them with clippers.
I know this video is a couple of years old however this is the first time I've seen a sheep shorn with manual shears and not the electric ones. Very interesting and the sheep looked great!
I'm not quite sure how I got to this video (lots of video surfing on CZcams) , but I really enjoyed it. Very sweet and well made. I feel like I'm on a lil field trip in my living room ☺️ thanks!
Thank you! It's the first time I visit your channel and I really like it. To be honest one of my eyes was on the sheep and the other in your cat offering the belly 😍
Thanks for this video. I'm thinking about getting a few sheep and your manual sheers look much more my speed than the motorized ones. Quieter, gentler, maybe. Less daunting. I don't see myself ever having more than a half dozen or so. I could also see myself wanting a break for my back's sake part way through. Great encouragement!
Hi, can I ask please, had she had fleece on her tummy would you have started there rather than the leg or would you always start with her leg? Thank you
Hi Richard ! long time no chat ! Yes they work perfectly, still love them! and we have had many people ask where to get them so we point them to your website. I hope we have helped you generate a few sales !
@@solarbrianyvonne Pleased to hear that they are going strong, I have come to understand more about the blades edge retention now that there are a lot of shears dotted around the world. If the wool is clean and has not dirt and dust, the edge can last for up to 200 sheep, here in New Zealand we get quite a bit of dust blowing from the mountains so we only get around 20. How long do they last for you guys?
Yes ! you are dealing with animals that like to kick and a sharp instrument that can cut, shearing does require some fitness to manage the animals and keep them and yourself safe, I do become tired after a couple of them so I usually take a break and start again the next day.
@@solarbrianyvonne what do they pay you per pound if it’s not too much to ask? I have a small flock of sheep and I haven’t decided what to do with their wool

looking after the animals is a great job, and you learn from them too.

So neat seeing you using our shears with ease, should be able to shear half your sheep before sharpening again
Good to know ! This is a great tool for shearing our sheep, well made and if anyone is looking for a shearing tool, I highly recommend it.

Hi Cindy
Thank you for your kind words, for just a few animals hand shearing this way is easy and inexpensive.
Wish you all the best .
Look at those shears! Best in the biz!
Agreed !
How did you get the sheep to be so calm? Mine would probably resist and run away
we handle them allot , and we feed each sheep 1 hand full of oats each day... this way they want to hang around with us :-) oats is like candy to them
Now I know how to shear Lucy
Bring Lucy over and we will give her the Salon treatment. manicure, hair cut and purple highlights.
Hi, can I ask please, had she had fleece on her tummy would you have started there rather than the leg or would you always start with her leg? Thank you
yes I would have , she just happened to have her tummy fairly clean
@@solarbrianyvonne thank you!
the idea that shearing hurts them is so funny to me. she's literally asleep 😅
totally , its just a hair cut... but there are always a few people who get their panties in a bunch and have to complain . lol
