Woah, nice one, Player2! It's really cool to see you revisiting songs that you've previously remixed, and this is a great selection for the weekend leading up to Halloween! I love Mad Monster Mansion's theme, and this is a really groovy and driving rendition - like a dance party at the mansion!
The instrumentation is so good here, and I like the use of various instruments that you'd expect to hear in Rare games, like the staccato strings, various mallets, and of course that mean barry sax! And I just _love_ that clarinet at 1:07 - it's the perfect choice for that arpeggiated part. Also, I'm not sure if it's a music box, but that delicate sound at 0:36 sounds just like the one heard often throughout Banjo-Kazooie (even in the File Select theme, when Banjo is sleeping), and it's awesome that you were able to replicate that iconic sound so closely. But then in tandem with real orchestral instruments, you've got these hard electro synths which really heat things up and add a lot of bite to the mix. It's honestly so impressive the way you're able to meld the two types of sound styles so seamlessly in this eclectic arrangement!
Your SFX usage are off-the-charts here, and it must have taken loads of time and effort to select, time, and process the different sound effects throughout. The way they're used so frequently and rhythmically makes them feel like an inherent part of the song, and certain sound clips really brought a smile to my face, like Mumbo's exclamation at 1:34, or the growl at 2:51... was that from the game? And the way it corresponds to that monster breaking through the portrait was perfect. Not gonna lie, that made me jump a bit the first time. 😅
I really enjoy the variety of transitional techniques you've utilized here, alongside a variety of percussive rhythms. Those hyper-charged risers build some great tension leading up to the drops, like at 1:14, 2:01, and 2:47, and that wind-down sound effect at 2:57 is one of my favorites that you've ever used. The way you make use of different building and releasing techniques is genuinely impressive, and it makes the music sound like there's always a surprise waiting just a few measures ahead! And of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the superb drum work here. The beats have infectiously catchy rhythms, and I admire how you're able to have the percussive elements drop out at certain points while still keeping the rhythmic drive intact. One thing I always worry in my music is that the momentum will be lost if I have the drums drop out for a period of time, but your music is helping me to see how much of an impact it can make when executed well!
Seeing the gameplay of Banjo-Kazooie always gets me feeling nostalgic, and I was happy to see some footage of inside the church alongside the different areas of Mad Monster Mansion. One thing I always loved about the Motzand mission is how the organ notes you played almost always resonated with the main melody, which made me feel like I was actually doing something clever in the game - huge props to the programmers and sound designers for that fun and empowering detail! But reminiscing aside, I always enjoy seeing the new effects you implement into each video, like the "TV test screen" transition at 1:20 - definitely a throwback to the era when this game first debuted!

I’ve never actually played Banjo-Kazoie but I’ve listened to the soundtrack plenty of times and this is one of my favorite tunes. You just made it even better and spookier, I love it!

I have! I remixed this back in 2018; and, to my surprise, was still under 2,000 views hahaha! So it did not do very well - hopefully now I have better SEO & reach with this one - though, I know most holiday themed remixes don't get that much traction!
