  • After reasearhing how to install a UHF radio and second battery into a Isuzu 2022 MUX, I couldn't find any information on how to get the DC and UHF radio coaxial cables through the firewall, I searched forums and CZcams, there are many that show fitting to a DMax but not an MUX specifically so I decided to do a brief video on my installation, hopefully it will be a good guide and give you some ideas.
I reasearched all the parts for the second battery installation and decided to use the Itechworld equipment as it seems to be comprehensive and a good price.
I also decided to install the Victron SmarShunt 500A/50mv and the Victron Connect app, this will give me the state of charge of the battery, the capacity left, the current drain and charge voltage.
For the UHF radio I chose the GME 330C radio, mainly for its compact size. The antenna is AE4018BK1 for its flexibility and cheapness of any failure in the antenna itself, I also chose for the 2.2dBi antenna the AE4002 again for its flexibily and ease of replacement.
Here are the links to all the equipment.

Thanks for the info...ignition connection and firewall. Bought a 2023 base model white mux last christmas. Also seriously thought about an Itech setup like ours but have decided to go down the Itech portable Gofurther box with 120aH bluetooth battery path. Hope it is all working for you. Plan to have my done in the next 2 months.

Thanks for your comments, your planned setup looks useful, my setup is working well with the fridge, I also have iTechworld 200W solar blanket, the DC-DC charger, hub and battery all worked flawlessly, I never turned the fridge off over a 4 week trip. the battery never went below 83% charge.

How did you get it through the firewall. Did you get someone else to do it? Having looked it is so difficult to access

I put the cable through the firewall myself, as in the video you can use a straightened coat hanger and push it through the grommet from inside the car and out into the engine bay, then tape your cables to the wire in the engine bay and pull through into the car, if the cables are too wide you may need to cut the grommet slightly as I did, when pushing the wire through, be careful of the wires in the loom, I sealed the grommet with sikaflex, hope this helps.

I could not see how to access the inside grommet. Seemed to confined?

Yes it is a bit tight in there, first remove the kick panel on the left where passengers feet are, pull out the gloves box, pull back the carpet, then you will need to pull back the carpet backing around the cable loom, it is tight but accessible, just need to be persistent, also if you take photos or video you can then look at them to get a better idea
