    The cliche that styles make fights is George Foreman-Joe Frazier in I and II. Foreman’s height and reach advantage was a major factor. That was not the case with 6’3” 215-pound Muhammad Ali for Frazier. It was for Foreman as Frazier is easily pushed off by Foreman. Frazier could not get inside or even connect with his signature left hook. I was just watching II at Nassau Coliseum and Frazier connected with his left hook against Foreman. Someone else here noted Foreman walked right through the left hook in II. Frazier never came close to stunning or hurting Foreman. But he showed his championship heart and determination. That's ridiculous, Joe was a hard hitting champion that dominated the division for years. He beat the shit out of Ali in the first fight. He just met up with a style he was not meant for in Foreman. Foreman hit too hard for a guy who was a take one to give one type of counter puncher. While he definitely did better that anyone who fought Ali prior to 1977, his career was a great one. This analysis is amateurish at best and void of any credibility. Ali would say otherwise as he was able to dominate Foreman, but never dominated Frazier. That was why he acknowledged him as the best fighter ever ( of course, with the exception of himself).

      Joe always fought like that. Always. And in fighting like that he was a come forward fighter, so I have no idea what you mean. In the first fight he came towards Foreman, did he not? He also did it with the same style, you called "looking down". In the second fight he tried something different. Frazier tried fighting on the outside, and this time trying to outbox George from there, countering, and at times infighting. But Frazier still got hit, until he Foreman caught him with a good one, hurt him, and then ended things
      Boxing is not as easy as it may look. And sometimes you could be beating a fighter the whole fight, and get caught, and stopped (even though you're the better fighter, technically, you still got caught, and stopped, by them).

      @chrischichester7823 Před rokem

      It’s because Foreman and Ali are radically different boxers and that is why the great Joe Frazier had radically different fights with each. It’s not about ‘anger’ but the ability to adjust to the fight and fighter. James Douglas was the first opponent to adjust to Mike Tyson in a way that totally baffled the champion to the point where he was hit with combinations no previous fighter landed. The inability of Tyson to adjust to the movement, combinations and jabs from Douglas is why he was knocked out in the 10th round. Tyson displayed tremendous heart and courage in trying to beat the count and he didn’t because he was taking a beating throughout the fight.

      George changed trainers after that fight. His trainer had been Dick Sadler. Ali said that he'd only do a 2nd fight if Foreman had Sadler in his (George's) corner. That's a strange request. And George said that Sadler had kept telling him to get after Ali, almost like Sadler *wanted* George to get gassed out and lose. So something fishy may have been going on with Sadler. I don't even think Sadler was that great. George barely ever used his jab, which was actually really good. Almost as good as Holmes jab, but with twice the power.

      I disagree. Let's face it Foreman was just too big, too strong, and used a bull vs matador technique to confuse Frazier at first.
      This is very well shown in their first fight. Then when Frazier couldn't get through like he wanted in other fights with others, Big George began working off that, and began bombing him. After Foreman began hurting Frazier, Foreman took over from there, and just over powered his man from there in.
      2nd fight Frazier realized Foreman was too big and strong so he tried to mix things up a bit, and began fighting on the outside and some times inside, instead of just infighting. Frazier wasn't looking at that bad. He was doing a heck of a lot better than he did in their fight. But big George, if anything is always determined to stay on you until he gets you. And he still caught Frazier, and put him away.

      Big George and Ali were just two different just two different fighters. Ali of 1970 was not the same fighter he was during the early to latter part of that decade, because of his 3 year suspension, on top of it.
      That Ali in my opinion would have out boxed Frazier pretty easily, and would have taken far far less punches.
      Foreman was just too big and strong for Frazier, no matter what. Frazier's style (a come to fighter) just made things easy for the bigger, harder punching Foreman. And notice how accurate Foreman's punches were in the first fight with Frazier, who made things easy for the bigger, taller man.
