Hey I may love vanguard. But at least it beats Aliens trying to take over two planets, evil deities, the characters from the cards taking over people's bodies and psychic future telling abilities.
Not saying I didn't like these things. But it was a more realistic take on vanguard while they use they're imaginations to fight.

This scene will still shock me, it caught me off guard on how nice it looked and even now, I am still amazed on how it looks, just amazing.
Card game animes generally have very stiff animation because they have to follow the plays the characters make of "attack that other monster otherwise stand there not moving at all", the previous Vanguard seasons were very guilty of this a lot of the time.
OverDress taking this different direction of having the monsters fight not necessarily following the game plays allows for better fight scenes.

It is a card game anime, setup in a way where you can follow it even if you don't understand the game.
It’s a card game anime but so far 2 out of 3 episodes have ended with big flashy shonen fights like this one. I have no idea why it looks so good now but I am here for it
@@oceandragoon3099 It mainly comes down to this type of animation is a massive improvement from previous seasons. Card game animes tend to run into the problem that for the show to follow the actual plays of the game, the monsters need to mostly just stand there motionless until they attack another monster who itself is also motionless, which results in very stiff animation. We could see this from as early as the first Yugioh anime and the Vanguard animes were very guilty of this problem.
This style they're going for with the new series has the monsters fighting shonen style, they don't quite follow the actual plays the characters are making but it allows for better looking fights than "Barely moving dragon shoots a laser at a monster that was just standing there doing nothing".

@@karlarboleda8773 not needed to understand what's going on overDress, as it doesn't have any connection story-wise to any of the previous series. You can start with this, though the game isn't really explained but there's a tutorial on the official Vanguard CZcams channel if you wish to understand the game

@@simbap1435 For context, the show is a card game anime so it usually starts with the characters playing the game regularly, then it transitions to a fight scene between the monsters the players are using.
That's why the scene beings with two guys becoming monsters fighting then it ends with the monsters vanishing and returning to just the two guys after the game ended.

Welcome to Overdress, the fourth era of Vanguard. Where deck numbers can be as crazy as possible and the range of interesting decks is great from the start at 10 different archetypes and only two felt subpar.
Perhaps because the animation is done by Kinema Citrus (Rising of the Shield Hero, Made in Abyss) and the character design is done by CLAMP (Code Geass (character design), Chobits and Cardcaptor Sakura (creator))

Most episodes focus on the characters rather than the game. Most episodes aren't like this but there is more of this.

Basically the episodes show the characters playing normally with the cards then then transitions to a scene of the monsters in the cards fighting each other anime-fight style.
